Astrophyllite would like you to know that YOU'RE ALWAYS WELCOME AT OUR HOUSE. Negaverse: Lt. AstrophylliteName: Gemma Kit Hudson Nicknames: Some people mispronounce her name with a hard G - does that count? Age: 15 Birthday: August 10th Sign: Leo Blood Type: B- Fav. Food: Marshmallows, squid, bubble-tea. She's a texture person and really loves anything chewy. Hated Food: Raw bell peppers, berries with tiny seeds, asparagus, okra. (Okra especially. It's like someone combined bell peppers and asparagus into one!) School: St. Magdalena's (Her file cites shoplifting, poor grades, and suspected but unconfirmed narcotics abuse. With her father living out of town and her mother in and out of psychiatric care, a boarding school is Gemma's best shot, and since she's not up to Crystal standards, St. Mags is her only option.) Hobbies:Clap your hands if you believe in fairies- Gemma believes in the supernatural and refuses to hear it any other way. She is deeply spiritual and superstitious, a lover of folklore, and quick to put faith in ideas with little to no supporting evidence. Also, Gemma daydreams so much that it's a pastime. She can be constantly found staring out the window or just zoning out, imagining fantastic journeys to far away lands and just sort of being a space case. Surprisingly, Gemma enjoys the religious aspects of life at St. Mag's, although her actual understanding of theology is pretty scant - mostly she just likes stories about saints, martyrs, and miracles. I drew you a picture- Gemma thinks her forays into exotic fantasy worlds ought to be recorded. She's not much for spelling, so writing them down is sort of out of the picture, but she loves to draw: elaborate scenes of far away lands, detailed facial studies of elves and fairies, repeating tessellating patterns, or just random shapes. Her notebooks are about 90% doodles and 10% incoherent jottings about the civil war, pythagorean theorem, or Hamlet. And then sometimes the two combine and you get a sketch of John Wilkes Booth riding a unicorn. it's not stealing, it's borrowing with no intention of returning it- Gemma's a compulsive kleptomaniac and almost anything she picks up to fiddle with will eventually find its way into her pockets. Pens, paperclips, trinkets, small toys, jewelry - if it catches Gemma's eye, it'll probably be gone before you realize she's noticed it. When confronted about her behavior, Gemma is reluctant to return stolen objects, claiming that she felt drawn to them and there must have been a reason for why she picked them up. I don't think softball's a boring sport- Gemma plays left fielder for the St. Magdalena's Intramural fast-pitch softball team. She started because she had to take a P.E. elective, and kept at it because she thought it was fun, even though she's more likely to be caught cloud-watching than catching balls. She's a mean hitter even if she is likely to get lost somewhere between second and third base and can also double as a pitcher in a pinch (and quite a good one, too). However, she sometimes forgets that softball throws are underhanded and has a tendency to bean opposing players, which keeps her from playing the position full-time. Gemstone: Peridot Virtues:Creative- Gemma excels at coming up with outlandish and bizarre solutions for everyday problems. Her way of washing dishes might not be the most practical, but it is a lot of fun, and she was definitely that one girl who decided that strapping washcloths to her feet was an easy and entertaining alternative to mopping. Her creativity is also expressed in her approach to schoolwork, like the time she wrote a fifteen-page comic book about Queen Elizabeth I fighting martians to explain the Spanish Armada. Gemma is always good for brightening up a boring task or making a slow afternoon go quicker by making up a game to play or a story to tell. Others admire Gemma for her ability to make the best of any situation, no matter how dismal it may seem going into it. Obedient- Gemma doesn't complain. She rolls with the punches and is generally happy to do whatever you tell her to do. If you point Gemma in the right direction and tell her to do something, she'll do it. If you're enthusiastic, Gemma will be enthusiastic, even if she has no idea what's going on, what you're talking about, or even what day of the week it is. She follows orders and instructions almost unquestioningly and respects authority: most of her disciplinary problems at school are due to passive rather than active rule-breaking and short of anything that threatens serious injury, she's happy to take commands. Easily amused- All it takes to keep Gemma entertained is an interesting doohickey, a couple blades of grass, or a particularly compelling-looking cloud. She takes pleasure in the small things in life and is seldom bored. The smallest ray of sunshine can brighten her day, and rather than get serious situations get her down, she simply focuses on something happier. So your dog died, you lost your homework, and your ring was stolen? She's awfully sorry for you but look, the cherry blossoms are in bloom and doesn't that just beat all? (She probably stole your ring.) Optimistic- Gemma always looks on the bright side of life. She is unfazed by other peoples opinions or unkind words, and marches confidently to the beat of her own drummer. The small stuff seldom causes her to sweat - in fact, neither does the large stuff. Gemma has declared her personal bubble to be a stress-free zone, and she encourages those she comes in contact with to feel likewise: what's done is done, what's past is past, and what will be... will be. Fix what you can and get on with your life. There's no room in Gemma's world to worry about things that are solidly out of her hands: life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. She takes each day as it comes and is always looking ahead rather than dwelling on past wrongs. Flaws: Cloudcuckoolander- Gemma's a total space cadet. She's off in her own little world like 80% of the time, usually coming back only when someone tries to directly engage her in conversation. She also has a tendency to not pay attention to where she's going, resulting in some truly memorable tumbles, falls, and general moments of flailing in panic for the nearest stationary object. People she grabs onto for balance will more often than not wind up on the floor as well. Disorganized- She had it right here! Or was it there? Oh no, she's lost it again. Be it last night's homework or her goldfish, Gemma has only a hazy grasp at best on where all her things are. You told her to bring a black pen, and she's brought red pencils, and her english textbook, because she couldn't find her science journals, and she was up really late last night doing her homework because she couldn't find her laptop in her bedroom clutter until ten PM. She's also in class barefoot because she couldn't find her shoes... This girl would seriously lose her own head if it wasn't attached. Non-empathetic- Gemma doesn't really get people and can be rather callous. She doesn't pay attention to other people's feelings and can say things to unintentionally hurt her friends. She generally doesn't think about other people's emotions when making plans or taking action. She didn't consider that you might have really liked your model horse where it was - it was pretty and she wanted it. This general disregard for the feelings and well-being of other makes her come off as aloof and occasionally dispassionate. Dumb- Gemma's not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. In fact, some people might say she's all but burnt out. She's obedient and polite and imaginative, but at the cost of actual smarts - She really doesn't know any better. Her creativity should never be mistaken for actual cleverness - she's too lacking in subtlety and intelligence to come up with tricks and traps, and is, in general, quite blunt with her intentions. She's bad at lying, and she's just as bad at catching people in a lie. Subtlety goes way over her head, just like complex math problems, facts about geography, and the spelling of onomatopoeia. Challenge: "I don't know, let's ask the spirits!" After leveling up: "I've got a crystal-clear vision of your doom!" Weapon (for Negaverse)Lieutenant Weapon: An ouija board! Astrophyllite sometimes uses it for its proper purpose in her down time, but when it comes to battle she basically uses it as a club. Captain Weapon: A basic rounded morning star club. Preferably made of some kind of translucent material, like a crystal ball. General Weapon: A fancier morning star with spikes. Uniform: Colors: charcoal gray and firebrickStyle: A classic high-necked negaverse jacket, cut with a bit of a flare to the bottom half and falling to mid thigh like a dress, worn over knee-length leggings and a pair of high tops. Some inspirations: The girl on the left, This coat, Or maybe this. Should start out plain and then get more crazy patterned panels as she levels up! (Obviously these are for upgrades.)

Why she joined the negaverse:Although she isn't too bright, Gemma does have some qualities that make her a good soldier. She takes commands well, following orders in a manner akin to a heat-seaking missile: tell her where to go and let her loose, and she'll keep going until her target stops moving. Her lack of empathy means she has no moral qualms over draining people's energy or otherwise injuring them, while her inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality adds to her malleability. Astrophyllite has been lead to believe that the senshi are the front of an alien invasion, and the negaverse is the only thing standing between the Earth and a full on War of the Worlds scenario. Physical Description:Hair: Long, falling to about mid-back. Baby-fine and strawberry blonde, uncombed and tangled. Lots of random sticky-uppy bits and choppy layers. Eyes: Enormous, perpetually surprised looking, vividly orange. Face: Slim, pointed chin, button nose. Enormous ears. High cheekbones. Big teeth. Think of a young Shelley Duvall. Body: Beanstalk tall and gangly. About 5'10", with a tendency to gawk. Pale skinned, slightly sallow/unhealthy looking. Fashion: Very easygoing and casual. Slip on shoes that don't take much thought, too-big shirts, jeans or shorts. Not very girly-girl, except for in her taste for anklets, bracelets, and rings, which she will wear constantly and too many of. No matter what she's wearing, though, she will usually look pretty disheveled. One has a distinct sense that most of her clothing is purchased second-hand. Family:Father: Christopher Hudson (37) Gemma's parents are divorced and her dad lives in Boston with his new wife and their two small children. He is a tall, lean man who works in the finance department of a large software company, and typically only sees his eldest daughter a few times a year. The last time Gemma heard from him was her birthday, although he does usually make an effort to invite her up around Christmas. Gemma's middle name, "Kit," is a diminutive of Christopher. Mother: Carol Dubicki (34) Gemma's mother has been her primary caretaker since her parents' divorce seven years ago. Carol is a short, slightly overweight woman with a frazzled demeanor, a tendency to stress, and a predisposition to nervous breakdowns. She has checked herself into a psychiatric ward twice in the last five years, but when she isn't working herself into a tizzy manages to hold down a steady job as a high school librarian. Stepmother: Beatrice Hudson (32) Christopher's second wife and Gemma's stepmother. Beatrice is a bit of a yuppie who collects "tribal" art and has redecorated her brownstone at least six times in as many years. She works as a curator at a small, trendy art gallery in Boston. Gemma is not close with her. Half-Siblings: Ethan (5) and Gabriella (3) Hudson Christopher and Beatrice's two young children. Gemma hardly knows them, but thinks they're pretty spiffy because they seem willing enough to believe anything she says.

Lol old profile. Negaverse: Lt. Astrophyllite
Name: Gemma Kit Hudson
Nicknames: Some people mispronounce her name with a hard G - does that count?
Age: 15
Birthday: August 10th
Sign: Leo
Blood Type: B-
Fav. Food: Marshmallows, squid, bubble-tea. She's a texture person and really loves anything chewy.
Hated Food: Raw bell peppers, berries with tiny seeds, asparagus, okra. (Okra especially. It's like someone combined bell peppers and asparagus into one!)
School: Crystal Academy sophomore
Hobbies:
I drew you a picture- Gemma is a graphomaniac to at least some degree. She draws, not because she is particularly good at it or even particularly enjoys it, but because she hasn't really got anything better to do and she's fidgety otherwise. She'd rather scribble faces and trees and birds and stars than drum her fingers on the desk all day long.
Clap your hands if you believe in fairies- Gemma believes in the supernatural and refuses to hear it any other way. She is deeply spiritual and superstitious, a lover of folklore, and quick to put faith in ideas with little to no supporting evidence.
It's okay, they know me here- Gemma daydreams so much that it's a pastime. She can be constantly found staring out the window or just zoning out, imagining fantastic journeys to far away lands and just sort of being a space case.
I couldn't sleep, so I went for a walk- Gemma is a horrible insomniac who wanders all over campus/all over the city in the middle of the night. She'll go for days at a time without sleeping, and then drift off in the middle of class and totally miss the lesson.
I don't think softball's a boring sport- Gemma plays left fielder for the Crystal Academy Intramural softball team. She is more likely to be caught cloud-watching than catching balls. She's a mean hitter, though, even if she is likely to get lost somewhere between second and third base. She can also double as a pitcher in a pinch, but sometimes forgets that softball throws are underhanded.
Gemstone: Peridot
Virtues:
Creative- Gemma excels at thinking outside the box and coming up with unorthodox solutions to everyday conundrums. Her way of washing dishes might not be the most practical, but it is choreographed and a lot of fun to watch. And she was definitely that one girl who decided that strapping washcloths to her feet was a fun and easy alternative to mopping.
Complacent- Gemma doesn't complain. She rolls with the punches and is generally happy to do whatever you tell her to do. If you point Gemma in the right direction and tell her to do something, she'll do it. (Provided she doesn't get distracted or lost along the way.) If you're enthusiastic, Gemma will be enthusiastic, even if she has no idea what's going on, what you're talking about, or even what day of the week it is.
Easily amused- All it takes to keep Gemma entertained is an interesting doohickey, a couple blades of grass, or a particularly compelling-looking cloud. She takes pleasure in the small things in life and is seldom bored.
Oblivious- Ignorance is bliss, in which case Gemma is overjoyed. She remains pleasantly unaware of her flaws or what others may think about her. In her fantasy world, she's a magical princess who fights alien terrorists and makes the earth safe for humans like me and you but mostly her. She never worries too hard about anything, even though her grades are just barely passing, her friends are slowly but surely growing tired of her antics, and her guidance counselor thinks she's perpetually stoned. For Gemma, life is just plain groovy.
Flaws:
Cloudcuckoolander- Gemma's a total space cadet. She's off in her own little world like 80% of the time, usually coming back only long enough to interject that she has no idea what's going on and demand someone explain the last five minutes to her.
Be it last nights homework or her puppy, Gemma has only a hazy grasp at best on where all her things are. You told her to bring black pen, and she's brought red pencils, and her english textbook, because she couldn't find her science journals, and she was up really late last night doing her homework because she couldn't find her laptop in her bedroom clutter until ten PM. She's also in class barefoot because she couldn't find her shoes... This girl would seriously lose her own head if it wasn't attached.
Non-empathetic- Gemma doesn't really get people and can be a bit callous. She doesn't pay attention to other people's feelings and can say things to unintentionally hurt her friends. She generally doesn't consider other people's emotions when making plans or taking action. This general disregard for the feelings and well-being of other makes her come off as aloof and occasionally dispassionate.
Delusional- Gemma can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. She thinks her nightly outings as Astrophyllite are all just a game, and if you told her that humans landed on the moon in 1969, she'd ask if they found out what kind of cheese it is. Her grasp on cause and effect is hazy at best, particularly when it comes to her own actions, and once she's put faith into a conspiracy theory or mistaken belief, it's very difficult to convince her otherwise.
Challenge: "I don't know, let's ask the spirits!"
Weapon (for Negaverse) Ouija board! She whacks people over the head with it, mostly. Later it evolves into three small crystal scrying balls that she generally just chucks at people, baseball style, or else gets distracted and tries to juggle. At general stage she wields a crystalline morning star.
Uniform: Colors: charcoal gray and firebrick Style: A classic high-necked negaverse jacket, cut with a bit of a flare to the bottom half and falling to mid thigh like a dress, worn over knee-length leggings and a pair of high tops. (Something like this for the general shape: http://desigual.com/#/woman/16/ )

You should replace Clumsy with something else, or at least reword and rename it, since the form is about personality traits and not physical shortcomings. Present what about her personality allows her to be clumsy, instead of talking about her feats of clumsiness.

I have two major questions and one minor that sort of link into each other.
1. Alright, so she believes in the supernatural and spends most of her time fantasizing, off among the clouds or wandering the streets at night. So what's in her head? What does she think about this whole time? You mentioned that she's making up fantastic journeys to lands far away; is she always the center of attention in her fantasies, or does she think about yielding to stronger personalities and following them around?
2. What's her self-image like? Is she aware that her behavior is unorthodox? Does she feel at all guilty about always being out of it, or does she challenge people when they question her? Does she think of herself more as the person she is in her daydreams, or as the spacy kid?
3. I'm assuming she has bad grades? To what extent is she aware of this? How much does she care?

Glad to be of service! My best friend, actually, was quite the cloudcuckoolander in elementary school (and to a certain extent beyond)--she was convinced she had nightly adventures as Raccoon Lady and claimed to be from Mars. Now that she's straightened out a bit, she's a really terrific writer.
She always had an interesting relationship with her problems--partly her imaginative play was a way of escaping from her inability to function in a classroom setting, a way of giving her daily life worth and meaning, since she was stuck being the one who couldn't leave her desk without getting lost. So I was interested to see what Gemma's take on her situation was.

Hey!
I think what you really need to think about here is why Gemma would be recruited to the Negaverse. Like. She is so dopey and unfocused that she really wouldn't seem to be someone who would be reliable in a battle situation, and she doesn't particularly have any strategic impulses, so why is she corrupted instead of just energy-sucked and left for dead?
...hope this helps?
otherwise, all looks well!

Hey Silverah--I've only done a couple of character crits. in the past, but I hope this helps in some way.
Most of the traits are well-thought out and make sense to me--I like the weapon choices and the flaws particularly, although I think "Dumb" doesn't quite cover the difficulty in differentiating between reality and fiction. That seems like a higher cognitive problem, but I'm not expert.
Looking at Gemma's virtues, though, and I'm a little puzzled. Creative and Easily Amused I can see, but Complacent and Oblivious seem more like flaws than virtues. (To me, Oblivious and Cloudcukoolander don't seem very different at all, for example, even though you have one as a virtue and the other as a flaw.) Maybe those aspects make her work well in the hierarchy of the Negaverse and that's what makes them virtues? But if so that doesn't mean its personal virtues. As of now, though, they seem more detrimental to her.

derpy chii, at your service 8D /shot first of all- that muppets thing made me LAUGH OUT LOUD. ohmg. i never knew it was that morbid xDDD;; /shot
anyways o 3o; i think the school is a really good choice for her xD i love that you keyed her horbbies and what not into it = u=
hobbies;
i have to wonder why draw if theres nothing else to do?; or even if there really is nothing left to do. couldnt she bring like ... cards to school ? read a book under the table ? i have to think that logically, no one just draws for no reason. maybe that's just my thinking though. i'm a "there's a reason for everything" sort of person xD
i like the fantasy thing; it explains why she has the ouja board in the first place and what not. nice touches <3
any reason she likes softball and joined it ? seems kind of random considering the rest of her profile. i realize you did it to match the weapon, but it doesnt really fit in with the whole supernatural derpy-ness xD perhaps a parent forced her ? maybe she joined because a friend did ? the spirits told her ?
also, give back my ring >:U ! /shot easily amused is cute <3
as for her complacency, doesn't this sort of ... backfire? i mean, if she does WHATEVER someone says, she could get into some seriously trouble. i think what you're looking for is more obedient than complacent. and doesn't everyone have a point where they say "enough is enough, i dont want to do what you say anymore!" ? and what about bullying; that must happen a lot because of her lackey-likeness. expand a bit is all id say xD
i also hesitate to say that perhaps her daydream-wonderlandness will perhaps lead to some bad RP? if she's only coming into the conversation to say "what happened," how is she supposed to interact with someone? especially since apparently she's non-empathetic. while it works really well for your character, i dont know how much people will like RP-ing with her if shes quite so spacey and dettached. maybe give her a little warmth ? your choice
also, while i think the idea of an ouja board thing is cute, i dont really get your second and third stage. to me, ouja board, scrying balls, and morning star dont really ... relate. i get the ouja board and scrying balls but ... i dont know- to me it doesnt really "evolve" and transcend during stages. perhaps its just me- could you explain it ? xD
hope it helped love <3

rubs hands together, ok lets give this a shot and try and find things other people haven't already pointed out sweatdrop
first off in the i drew you a picture, you say she gets fidgety and twitchy and needs something to do, but in clap your hands you say she's dreamy and spacey. if she likes daydreaming so much, wouldn't she do that when she has nothing else to do, instead of draw? (seeing as she doesn't really enjoy drawing)
uh, complacent and oblivious also do seem to come off as flaws. they may work for gemma, but for people who interact with her, they might end up being aggrivating at the best and infuriating at the worst. virtues are things that other characters admire and view as positive parts of your character, and i really can't imagine anyone going, for example, "I love Gemma! She's soo oblivious, she never pays attention to a word I say!"
repeating the whole 'weapons seem disconnected' thing, because the first two ... occult ok, but the third is a sudden jump to medieval weaponry, and i'm pretty sure smashing people with a morning star is a different action from beaning them with a board or throwing globes at them.
i love how derpy she is though, good luck X)
