User Image It was a cool and foggy morning. The wind blew the grass and leaves in the trees. It was getting colder and colder each morning warning the wild life that winter was close behind. Keith had been traveling for a long wile now. He had made his way through the mountains and thick forests. He had always had no problem traveling but now that winter was close... it was a whole different experience. He found it harder to start his journeys in the early morning and because of winter coming food was getting harder to find. He sighed as he padded along the cool ground.
"This does not bode well..." He stopped as he watched two little mice scurry along the ground. His ears twitched and he looked up into the sky. "The clouds are growing darker..." It was likely it was going to rain soon. He glanced back at the mice who were long gone out of sight. "Hurry home little ones... it looks like a strong storm coming..."

Cam was taking one of her many strolls through the forest. The weather felt restless to her, which in turn made her restless. The sky was turning a shade of gray to rival the stones of the castle ruins that housed her tribe. The air had a bit to it; the coming rain would be freezing! Not so cold to be snow, but still uncomfortable with no shelter.

Still, Cam was enjoying herself. For a fox with warm, earth tones, she had a great love for cold winds that rustled around in her fur. She paused to enjoy a particularly nice breeze, then paused again; it carried more than a chill.

There was a strange male in Caledonia lands. He was quite close too, almost within sight. Cam's tail swished behind her in thought. Caledonia was a peaceful tribe and welcomed travelers, and Altair would probably welcome the male to shelter in their home until the storm left. On the other hand, the male could be hostile. Cam was no fighter.

She stood there, still debating. Maybe she'd be able to judge his reaction to her presence from a distance, and run back to the castle ruins if she had to.

Making his way through the trees he couldn't help but notice that a few feet in front of him were some tracks. Keith stopped for a moment and titled his head to the side as he looked at them. From a distance they didn't look big enough to be that of an enemy so he figured it would be safe to take a closer look. Upon a closer look he could tell they were that of another fox... and not just any ordinary fox... these came from a female and judging by how fresh they were she just passed though here. He glanced back up at the sky's. She could be in trouble if she didn't know about the storm... or have shelter. He looked in the direction of the tracks and decided it couldn't hurt to check to see if she was ok.

Cam had decided to continue her stroll as though everything was normal. Even if the male was somewhere in the forest it didn't mean he was nearby. It was a strong wind, and in the cold air smells could travel great distances.

Which was all well and good in theory, until she rounded one of the forests specimens of huge pine tree and found herself almost nose-to-nose with the male. Back-tracking her path was apparently not wise.

Cam backed up a step, and another. She tilted her head ever so slightly and cast her gaze over the male. He had a handsome coat, with riveting shades of blue offset by black. The lighter blue that formed the curving patterns on his front leg and back also seemed to outlight limb definitions. His eyes were sapphires to her jade.

Cam stood still, watching the male for his reaction. Most weren't dangerous, but it would be her luck to be far from home, and alone, the one time she encountered one.

Keith didn't even flinch when he found himself face to face with the female he could only assume was the one who made the tracks. He blinked as he took in her sight, and boy was she a sight. He had never seen a female with a coat such as hers. The flowers that danced across her fur in the wind were beautiful and he could tell she wouldn't have a problem blending into the forest. He finally found his words.
"My apologies..." He smiled. "I didn't mean to scare you..." He looked in the direction of the tracks he was following. "I was following these tracks..." he then glanced at her paws and could tell by her paws that she had been the one to make them. "It would seem they belong to you." He looked up at her again. "I just wish to inform you that a storm is coming... If you have someplace close you could go until it passes you should do so quickly..." he glanced to the sky. "It looks to be a nasty one..."

Cam blinked, then her body relaxed. "It's quite alright. It's simply rare to see another fox in this area. Most aren't used to the ocean storms or mountain winters."

She looked up at the sky. The clouds have turned a nastier shade of gray, and looked thicker. The wind was softened by the trees, but still strong. The castle was in open ground, and not exactly around the bend; the storm would more than likely hit just as she made it out of the safety of the trees.

Cam shook her head and moved back, a little deeper in the forest. "I have a place, but it is too far away to make it in time. The best solution would be to venture further in the forest, where the trees are thickest, and attempt to find shelter. There are some very big trees whoes roots would suffice, I think."

He nodded his head in agreement.
"Yes... I myself really aren't that use to them..." He followed her gaze to the sky. "I've been traveling for some time now... but I have never seen a place quite like this." he looked back at her. "Its a beautiful place."

He watched her head back into the forest. So far she had been the only fox he had met this far out in his journey and to tell the truth he would enjoy the company of another fox. For some reason he felt a sense of comfort being around her. He quickly followed her.
"That sounds like a good Idea. The further into the trees the better it should be. My... My name is Keith... whats yours?"

"My name is Chamomile, but call me Cam. It's less of a mouthful." Cam picked her away around a fallen tree. It was little more than a rotting log now, hardly big enough for shelter and not quite strong enough. Even as she walked she was able to take in the sights.

"Yes, it really is. We're at a meeting point, where forests, mountains, rolling plain, and ocean meet. It might account for some of our more bizarre weather."

Cam took a moment, in the brief silence, for introspection. She found that she felt very content at the moment, enjoying the company as she moved deeper into the forest for shelter. She felt happier than she would have been had she been alone. Cam's life was a paradox like that; always wandering alone, but happy with company.

"What sort of lands do you come from?"

"Chamomile..." He smiled at the mention of her name. It had a good ring to it. "What a wonderful name." He chuckled. "Allot more fun to say then Keith." It was true. He always thought his name sounded so plain. He looked up at her at the mention of a nick name. "If that is what you wish. Cam it is then."

He followed her jumping on top of the fallen log then around. Why he didn't just go around he didn't know. Maybe he was just trying to show off to her. He jumped down then continued on his way following her.
"I see. Well that certainly sounds like its the cause for some bizarre weather." The next few moments went silent between them and the only the sounds of the high winds and nature could be heard. The silence was broken by Cam first. "Lands? Oh... well..." He sighed. "To tell the truth I don't recall... I've been all over... Im more of a wondering fox. I don't really stay in one place." He smiled at her. "I've been looking for a home... some where I can settle down but so far.... I haven't really found a place."

Cam opened her mouth to speak but before she would say anything a brilliant flash of light followed immediately by a banging that sounded as loud as an avalanche interrupted her. She squeaked a little. Living so close to the ocean, Cam was used to storms. She even loved listening to the sound of heavy rain. Thunder and lightning, though, were things she preferred at a distance.

Cam realized she had frozen in place. She ordered her muscles to unlock and keep moving. They had just started to reach denser forest, and now the hunt was on to find something that offered suitable shelter in case of downpour.

She swallowed, attempting to bring moisture back to her dry mouth so she could speak. "We offer a little bit of all terrains around here, so most wanderers enjoy it. Caledonia even provides a place to stay for those who simply want to pass though, as long as their friendly. Oh dear!" Another peal of thunder sounded above them. The brown female had to fight the impulse to dive under a clump of bushes.

((*stares* I had no idea Cam was afraid of thunder and lightning before this post. It's kinda funny XD ))

Keith looked up into the sky as the flash of light sailed through the sky. Lighting... and soon after that thunder came. It was getting rather dangerous now. He had hoped that they would have been able to find shelter by now. He figured that with the lightning and thunder already there the rain would not be fat behind.
"This is a bad sign... we need to find shelter as soon as we can..." He took his eyes off the sky's to look over at Cam. She seemed to have stopped. "Cam... are you alright?" He was concerned about the little vixen considering she had just stopped in her tracks. "Caledonia? Is that a Tribe your from?"

He then realized at that moment why she had stopped. It was the sound of the thunder and flash of the lighting. The pore female was afraid of the thunder and lightning and here she was out in the open of it. He trotted over to her and stood next to her.
"You do not need to be afraid... I'm here with you..." He looked at her with soft eyes. "You don't need to be afraid... I'm sure we will find shelter soon and it will all be over." He looked up. "As a mater of fact... I think I see a cave we can hide in until the storm passes."

Cam took comfort in Keith's presence, something warmth against the hard knot of fear in her throat. She had to try several times before she could speak. "You must think me silly, an adult my age still afaid of thunderstorms." Her laugh was a bit shaky.

She looked in the direction Keith was peering, making out what might possibly have been a cave. It certainly wasn't a tree. She commanded her jelly legs to move forward towards shelter; they could collapse afterwards.

"Of course not." He smiled down at her. "Its perfectly natural. Everyone is afraid of something wether it be something big or small. I myself are afraid of bodies of water." Once she was able to move again he stayed by her side. "Though thunderstorms are frightening so I do not blame you for being frightened."

He glanced at her to make sure she was still ok. She seemed to be having a little trouble walking but he didn't mind. As long as they made it to the cave safely. Thats all he cared about.
"Almost there."

Keith was correct. Soon both foxes were undernearth the shelter. It wasn't a proper cave, more like several boulders that had fallen from the mountain ages ago. All Cam cared about was that it had walls, a ceiling, and was higher than the forest floor in case of flooding.

Getting up to the cave had been an interesting ordeal. There was less time in the intervals between lightning strikes, and the stregnth Cam had willed into her legs to get her this far failed her. Keith had to help her up pretty much the entire way.

They weren't under long before the sky opened up around them. Even in the thick forest it wasn't going to take long for the water to soak through the canopy and start pouring down on anyone unfortunate enough to be outside.

Keith looked up as the sky began to pour down rain. It was a good thing they were able to make it to the cave other wise they would both most likely be soaked by now. That would have been bad for them considering the wind that was also out there. They would have easily gotten a cold in no time.

He took a moment to look around the small cave. It wasn't a proper shelter but it would have to do for the moment.
"Well I would have to say luck is on our side today." He looked down at her his tail wagging. "Its not a proper shelter but it will hold." He looked out into the forest. "At least till the storm has passed." He looked back to her. "How are you doing?"
