Cam strolled leisurely through the forest. She was searching for a specific place, one she'd found only once before. The forest was a patch-work of thick trees with thinned out spots. Meadows were rare.
It was a meadow Cam had stumbled upon and was looking for again. It had been a beautiful thing. Not a perfect circle, and the edge was hard to pick out due to the random trees that thinned out to form the border. Ferns carpeted the ground, with bright flowers poking through. It would be nice to find it again.

Meade laid in the middle of her meadow on her back, her purple underbelly absorbing the warmth of the sun. The colorful vixen hummed tunelessly to herself as she swished her tail through the ferns and flowers that surrounded her. It was a beautiful day and Meade was determined to enjoy every last minute of it. What better way to enjoy a day than relaxing in her meadow?
Meadows were important in Meade's family. Her mommies had met and re-met in a meadow. One of her sisters had met her mate in that same meadow. Meade herself was named after that meadow. But this one was different. This one wasn't her mommies or her sisters. This meadow was special because this meadow was hers. It was her favorite get away.
Cam stopped to take a quick break. She peered at all the trees around her. Close to the forest edge she knew all the trees quite well from constant wanderings. Here in the deeper parts of the forest they were mere acquantinces.
She was concentrating on an ash tree when a faint song reached her ears. Not bird song, it was a steady hum rather than a trill or tweet. There wasn't a tune behind it, just some creature humming for the sake of it. Curious, Cam twitched her ears and headed off in the direction the song seemed to be coming from.
Her guess paid off in more ways than she had thought, as the humming grew louder and the trees began to thin. If she was correct, the meadow was over here. Cam sped up a little. There! Sunlight spilled on the ground and turned it a rich emerald with bright jewels of color dotting the ground. The meadow!
