User Image The cubs born during and just after the war had started to grow up and as a consequence Aruná was no longer among the youngest cubs in the Minder groups. As those older than her started to learn their new tasks in the community she had plenty of younger cubs to torture... ahem... play with.

She didn't plan to be mean when she started out, but more often than not she played too roughly and the smaller cub ended up crying to the Minders. Bah! Weaklings... After yet another scolding to "play nice" she started to wish that she was old enough to go with the hunters. If a prey beast cried because she didn't use her "gentle paws" it meant that she did the job right. But when she told that to the Minder the only answer was to give Aruná a cuff over the head and another lecture before she was finally left alone.

To pass the time, and to keep out of sight from the nosy Minders, she started stalking imaginary prey in a some taller grass not too far from the minder dens. Sneaking up on things would be a valuable skill later, she imagined, and she did her best to stay out of sight and disturb the grass as little as possible as she stalked.

Purple pelt shined under the weak light of the pride, the usual mist providing entertaining coverage as the male prowled about. His long tail sweeping, the one named Quia peered left and right in his moment of freedom to wander about. He had taken care of his duties and training for the moment, and so was eager to make the most of whatever spare time he was given. Heh, too bad he hadn't a clue where to begin.

Passing a cluster of dens curiously, it was here that Quia took perch on a slight boulder. Red eyes narrowed as he glimpsed the few pride members pacing about. A few even looked up at his presence presence with a frown before continuing on with their tasks. To them, he was just that pesky youth being nosy again. But no matter, as the boy could almost show pride in having any attention at all.

Scoffing to himself, he tilted his head as he sniffed a few lions off to the side. A quick glance at the hideous green markings alerted him of their status, and he nearly smirked. Oh how he'd love to tease them one day, if he ever got the chance without being caught.

Arunás head popped up from the tall grass in a way that was more comical than stealthy. No minders were in sight so she seemed to be off the hook for now. One of them would probably investigate if she stayed away for too long, but she was pretty sure she had the time window figured out by now. With a bit of luck no one would come looking for a good long while. Some minders seemed to have a sixth sense, or possibly the help of tattling spirits, and they always managed to show up when she was in the middle of something fun and incriminating.

Perhaps it would be good to try to find something fun to do that the minders wouldn't get ll worked up over... But what fun was that? While considering activitites that were fun and approved by the minders her eyes fell on a older lion. Not adult, but almost adult from the way she saw it. Old at any rate... She wondered what he was doing standing on a rock like that. Perhaps practicing whatever he was going to do as an adult? Days like this she could not wait to grow up and become a great hunter.
