"Is he-?"
"He's fine, miss. Save for a nicked artery, he's mostly unharmed as we managed to repair that before he completely bled out. However, he'll have to spend a few days here and return in a week to have the stitches removed," the doctor quietly explained to Shadai, glancing in at the teen seemingly unconscious but stable in the room next to him. It had been a long day fixing him, given his genetics and whatnot.
"Oh thank god. I was so worried when..." Shadai shook her head and glanced at the hospital doors. Whether or not Noel liked it or heard, she had managed to get a hold of Edes and explain the whole situation although probably too frantically to understand. Why would Cody want to kill himself?
"Yanno Shadai, I'm beginning to think this wasn't some sort of stupid attempt at suicide. He aimed for a place that wouldn't leave any sort of lasting damage and seemed to have planned all this out," Ary muttered, crossing her arms irritably.

It all seemed so familiar.. Everything.. From the phone call.. To the rushing from place to place, to finding himself infront of a building he was in only a few days before. It all seemed so familiar to him. Only this time.. Mixed feeling was in his heart.
Before, it hadn't been Shadai who had called him to come, no, it had been the boy himself. But now.. What was going on? Edes found himself asking that same question over and over recently, to which he had yet to find an answer. Did he even want to see that boy again..? Of COURSE he did... That boy.. He was his everything..
By now, he found himself in front of the two who took care of that boy, breathing heavily, dripping wet from sweat.
"W-where... Is he..? Where Is Cody..?"
Once told, he slowly opened the door, looking in...

Shadai smiled at the boy, nearly giving him a hug for simply showing up and being there only to stop herself upon seeing how... sweaty he was. "He's in the room. I think he's sleeping," she muttered, nodding towards the door before returning to her conversation with the white-haired woman.
Cody lay peacefully on the sterile white bed, a massive bandage wrapped around his middle. It was almost as if he was asleep, until his hand twitched and his eyelids slid partially open. "Edes? That you?" he muttered, voice calm and drowsy and completely different to what it had been previously. Any hint of insanity or darkness had fled, leaving him far more stable mentally than before.
For a while, anyways.

"...." Edes completely entered the room, shutting it silently behind him. This.. Didn't seem right.
"What the hell did you do..?" A soft whisper came from his lips, as he pressed his back against the door. He didn't bother to get any closer. After the last time.. And the time before that.. He had no trust for the other boy whatsoever.
"What were you thinking? ... You know what? That doesn't matter, nothing matters. You're alive, and apparently, well enough to talk, so I'll be taking my leave. That's all I wanted to know." His heart was aching so badly for the other.. But.. His father did say that he couldn't have anything to do with Cody.. And he.. He did value that relationship with his father more than with Cody....
No. No that was a lie right there. He couldn't tell the other, not after what he did. Edes simply turned around, taking a hold of the doorknob.

Cody's eyes widened as Edes turned to leave after simply entering to see him. "No! Wait! Please just listen!" he gasped, wincing as he suddenly sat up and realized he couldn't really. With a soft groan, the teen slowly moved to lay back while trying hard not to black out as the room swirled before him. He couldn't let Edes leave!
"Ugh... You ask what I did and... It was stupid and I don't know what possessed me to do it," he muttered, a sort of monotone developing within his voice as he spoke. "You ask what I was thinking and I cannot answer for I had none. I barely remember what's happened these past few weeks or months or whenever April was," he continued mournfully, rubbing his eyes tiredly. His body throbbed violently with pain, spreading to the far reaches of his limbs. He could feel it in his FINGERNAILS practically. Guess he wasn't going to be moving again anytime soon...

"You can't remember? You CAN'T REMEMBER! Don't feed me that crap, Cody." Edes more than readily snapped at the other, his hand pulling away from the door to point accusingly at the other boy. "You remember being with your 'gang', you remember me stealing your book, right? You know what you did. And.. I won't stand for it anymore."
His hand fell to his side, as he fought back tears. Cody had truely hurt him. Before, he used to always be there.. But now.. Now it was as if he didn't even exist to the other boy!
"All that matters to you is your stupid gang. You.. You didn't even bother to come see me at the hospital. You didn't even come to see me when I was stuck in Jail because I wouldn't tell them what YOU did. I kept.. I kept praying to myself 'Please.. Cody, please come.. I came for you didn't I.. I was there.. I held you the whole night.. You'll come for me, right..?'" At this point, Edes' voice was cracking, and his eyes were slowly dripping tears. He turned his gaze back to Cody.
"Do you KNOW what it's like to be left ALONE in that cold cage? do you KNOW what it's like to be left without anything at all..? I don't want this anymore, Cody.. I.. I can't take this.."

Cody flinched and cast his gaze to the floor, unwilling to meet the boy's gaze as he essentially explained all that had happened. He couldn't remember any of it and yet, something told him he had done it. But why? Why would he?
"I do know... You may not think so but I do and I'm sorry but neither mother nor your dad would let me go," he muttered with a sigh. "I sorry. Believe me or not, I don't care. I know I'm sorry for whatever I've put you through. I tried calling, I really did, but no one ever answered. I guess I did this so we could finally talk," he continued, tearing up a little as well.
"I... If you don't want anything t-t-to do with me, then go. You won't ever see me again I can promise you that," Cody added, rubbing the bruises around his wrists from when the guards at the prison and hospital had "kindly" threw him out. If Edes never wanted to see him again, the boy was pretty sure there were numerous ways of accomplishing that whether it be by going to jail or eradicating himself from the face of the planet entirely.

"Cody.." He could feel a headache coming on right now as his body told him to be angry, though his mind just could not process that. He, instead, moved to Cody's side, sighing a bit, and taking a seat beside him, moving so that his wings were pressed up tightly against him.
"Cody.. Listen to me.. Do.. Do you still love me..? After all this.. What would you rather choose.. Me, or your gang? I know it seems like an ultimatum, and you know what? It is. I'm giving you a choice now."
A soft, slender hand reached up to touch the greed and patience spawn's cheek, tracing over his lips very gently, in a loving manner.
"I love you with everything I have.. But.. I'd rather distance myself from you, than see you get hurt again.. Does that makes sense?"

Cody stared at the teen as he sat next to him, feeling as if he was looking at movie rather than his life. He felt more like he was watching his own body move to slowly sit upright, pausing as Edes' hand traced across his face with a soft and gentle touch. It was so weird, for he could and yet could not feel it at the same time... Like a ghost of a memory.
"I... I've never stopped loving you. I would give up everything for you and yes, it does," he muttered softly, then frowned thoughtfully for a moment. "I know I've probably done stupid things these past... I dunno how long but I'm sorry," he added, taking the sloth spawn's hand in his. "Whatever gang you speak of, consider it forgotten and given up. Does that satisfy you?"

Those words.. The words Cody spoke.. So long he had wished to hear them again.. It felt like the sweetest ambrosia that he could have ever tasted... It satisfied ever fiber of his being, causing intensely euphoric emotions to travel from the tip of his head, all the way down to the far edges of his wings.
".... Yes. It does. Don't ever forget what you promised me here.. If you do.. Then there won't be a tomorrow for us.. No happily ever after for us... Understand..?" With that being said, he leaned in and placed his lips softly against the others, smiling and holding him close, but tenderly, so as to not hurt him any further.

Cody froze for the briefest moment as those soft lips descended upon his before happily pulling the teen closer as they kissed. "Don't worry, I'll never forget that promise. Not in a million years," he murmured, nuzzling the boy's cheek gently. How he had longed for that gentle touch for what seemed like ages. Ages that he had been frozen in time unable to hear, feel, see, smell, taste, or think. That is, till he woke up in the sterile white hospital room accused of so many things...
"Isn't today your birthday, Edes?" Cody asked randomly, moving a little to make room for the boy to rest with him on the hospital bed. He flinched slightly as twinges of pain flared from the wound as it moved ever so slightly despite the many layers of gauze that nearly made it impossible to move and-wait, were there restraints on his ankles under the white blanket?
What in the world was going on?

Shifting around a few times, he finally found himself comfortable against his love's side, their hands intertwined, just like the first time...
"My birthday... That was back in May... Maybe you should take a rest for a while.. You're a bit out of it.." Pulling away from Cody, he placed both of his hands onto the other's chest, pushing him back and tucking him gently.
"Just rest for now, alright?"

Cody frowned. Wait... it wasn't May anymore? Damn was he behind. "Really? I... Probably should..." he muttered, slowly sliding back into a laying position to stare up at the ceiling as Edes tucked him in. How much had he missed then?
"What month is it anyways?" he muttered sleepily, exhaustion finally settling in. All that drama had really taken a toll on him.

"It's September... Cody, you need to sleep.. You must be really out of it.." He leaned over the bed and turned off the light."And.. And I need to get back home before my dad finds out I left the house.. I was on punishment after the police brought me home.."
At this, Edes let out a slightly forced laugh. All this crap, all this strife and pain Cody caused.. And He still loved him. What the heck was wrong with him. Somehow he couldn't bring himself to leave the other alone. He grew up loving Cody. He grew up dreaming about them being together..
He supposed that just stuck in his head..

Cody just nodded, weary with just the simple knowledge of how much he had really missed out on. "Four months... Ugh... I'm glad you came, then, Edes. I hope your dad doesn't find out, then. I'd hate to have all that happen to you after... all this," he muttered, stifling a yawn.
"Bye. I seriously hope we can see each other again despite all this stuff I've apparently done," he added softly, offering the boy a soft wave. A true companion... It was a wonder the spawn wasn't part patience with how much he's dealt with and still stayed with him.
