It was hot, of course, and like any hot day, Farrah took to hiding at the watering hole. Any cooler day would find her tending to her father's younger children, her half-siblings, but today it was just too hot, and her Mamas had taken to them, so she saw little need to stick around and simply be there for the sake of being there. She snuck off on her own as soon as she'd seen the opportunity, skipping out on her sisters so she could relax. Treading to the watering hole was long and tiring, mostly due to the lack of sleep she'd been getting as of late.

She was concerned, moreso then usual, and it was no wonder. She was still with her father, Vizier Faiz. She should have been given away weeks ago, when she was still a youthful and beautiful adolescent. Now, an adult, she was firmly beginning to believe that she would never join a harem of a male worthy of her father's approval.

The first glimpse of water pushed her out of her thoughts, and she focused instead of walking right into the pool and dropping down into it, sighing at the relief of cold water on her pelt. She rolled a few times, and then pulled herself out, and flopped over to the shade of the tree. There, now, she closed her eyes, smiling, and relaxed beneath the sun and shade and the cool feeling of water sinking into her fur.

Ah, peace.

Aziz'Din was proud of his family, the large and extensive family that was that of the Sultan's kin, but really, sometimes there were just too many people. He wanted a big family when he was older, a good advantage to any pad! but he wasn't sure if he would have that many cubs at any one time.

The young juvenile was out walking, heading towards the watering hole due to the hot weather. Perhaps he could take a swim, if no one was around, or just lay by the edge with his paws in the water. That was always a relaxing pastime. He sighed as he walked, his paws hitting the hot dirt with heavy thuds. He wasn't trying to hide his approach.

He blinked at the sight of a familiarly coloured figure by the bank of the watering hole. Oh .He knew that coat. He hadn't spent much time around them, as much as he should have he supposed but he recognised family.

"Hello Cousin," he called out calmly, as he approach.

Peace, it seemed, was short lived.

Farrah barely bit back groaning in displeasure at being disrupted. Like Aziz, she appreciated her large family. She thrived within the contained chaos; she stood out in her own way, but it felt good to be a part of something so all-emcompassing as a large family. But on certain ocassions, especially today, she had looked forward to having some peace. It was nothing against Aziz, personally. She saw far too little of her Uncle's cubs. But she had just wanted to be alone.

Nonetheless, Farrah was a stickler for proper conduct, and she would not be so low as to treat Aziz'Din like a pest simply because she was in a morose mood today. That was hardly fair.

The lioness pushed herself up onto her rump, sitting upright so she could address Aziz not from the ground, but respectfully. She turned to greet her cousin without getting up, smiling lightly. "Hello, Pesar Aziz." She greeted warmly, chiding herself for thinking ill of having to talk to Aziz. He was a sweet cub, if nothing else; she was just being bitter over her situation in life.

Aziz'Din didn't think that she might want to be left alone. Afterall, who wouldn't want to talk to him? But he was a little uncertain as he approached her, sensing that perhaps she wasn't feeling all that social towards others today, though her warm greeting set aside some of his doubts.

"How are you fairing today, Farrah?" He asked, knowing he perhaps should have referred to her as 'banu Farrah' but they were family, so perhaps they could remove the formalities of the moment. He moved to sit beside on her, though not close enough to crowd her, still a few feet away. He was close enough to talk to her though, and gave her a small smile.

Farrah smiled as Aziz sat beside her, straightening up a little. She shouldn't have given off the idea that she wanted to be alone. Really, he was family, and while she certainly saw enough of her brothers and sisters she rarely saw her Uncle, the Sultan, or her cousins. It was a rare gift to see Aziz'Din without having her sisters along.

"I'm well, Aziz, thank you." She nodded as she spoke, thoughtful in choosing her words. "The weather is a little hot for my tastes, but that's what shade is for, hm?" She smiled at him. "How are you? I haven't seen you in a while, you've grown." She recalled seeing him for but a brief second as a cub, but hadn't gotten the chance to talk before she had to go chasing off after one of her younger siblings.

He smiled a little, pleased at the response he had gotten from his cousin. He didn't like thinking she would not wish to talk to him, after all they were family. He nodded a little. "The weather is a tad hot, I was heading to the water to see if I could cool down when I saw you," he admitted and smiled. "But other than the weather, I'm fairing well."

He shifted a little, puffing out his chest a bit at her comment of him growing. He was excited to be growing older. He was more than a little excited to be a Pad, and that would only happen when he was older. "Still have a fair bit to grow still, but I'm getting there," he said, with a slight laugh. "How are your mothers?" He asked, politely. He didn't see much of his extended family, there was too many immediate family to take up his attention. He did regret it, he enjoyed knowing his other family.

"It is." She agreed, snorting a little at the weather in general. It always seemed to be too hot for Farrah's taste. Given her dark fur, the sun was mostly unforgiving as it beat down on her. She much preferred early in the day, or closer to sunset, when the sun overhead wasn't so brutal. "You grow used to it, I suppose." She said as an afterthought, nodding to herself. "I'm glad to hear it." She was always glad for good news, especially regarding her family.

She smiled when Aziz puffed out, a small laugh bubbling forth before she could stop it. "You are." She nodded, smiling. "Soon, you'll be out on your quest to find a proper banu and become a true Pad." It was a bittersweet ocassion, sending out the youth of their pride, but one that was necessary. Farrah had accepted that when her Ilyas had gone, and he'd come back just fine.

"My mothers are well." She nodded, smiling. "As are my sisters." All of them, she thought to herself. She was looking forward to getting out of her father's den. Already, she and Ilyas spoke idly of her coming to stay with him for a spell. She hoped Faiz would agree. Though she loved her family, she missed the quiet when it was just her and her littermates.

"How are yours?" She asked after a moment of thought. "And your father, how is he? I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Uncle Aali in some time." She would have to make a point of it eventually, but Farrah liked to keep herself busy.

Aziz'Din withheld a grin at the thought of going out on his Quest and finding a banu. He was excited at the prospect, and more than a little eager to move from Pesar to Pad finally. “Yes, that is coming up soon, I think. Brothers and I are almost old enough.” He was practicing his hunting more often, and other survival skills as well, in preparation for the coming occasion.

He smiled at her. “I am glad to hear that your mothers and sisters are well.” He didn't get to spend as much time with those family members then he would have hoped. He made a mental note to himself to seek out some of his cousins again soon, just to check in on them and see how they were doing.

My mothers are well as well, and my sisters are growing like weeds,” he remarked, amusedly, “healthy weeds, though.” He nodded his head at her comment. “Father has been rather busy, since some many cubs have arrived in the pride and there are a lot of members now. He is well though, simply busy.” He smiled a little. He didn't get as much time with his father as he wanted, but he still saw him regularly, which was what mattered in the end.

"Almost," she agreed with a nod. "You must be excited." She knew Ilyas had been, when he left. All of the males typically were; though it broke their mothers hearts to leave. "I'll be happy to meet the banu you bring back with you." She doubted that Aziz would fail on his quest. It seemed few, if any, males ever did, though they were often away for a long time.

She perked up as he spoke of his sisters, and laughed quietly. "Cubs have a way of doing that." She said with a small smirk. She'd seen enough cubs grow to adulthood in her short time to know all too well that it was like one day to the next, and then they were grown and in harems of their own. As he spoke of Aali, she couldn't help but feel a familiar tug in her chest.

She remembered what it was like, not seeing her own father as much as she wanted because he was far too busy with the pride. It was a proud sort of pain. She was proud of her heritage, of her father's place in the pride, but it certainly wasn't easy. "Things will change." She said after a minute, nodding a little. "My father was busy when I was young, too. He still is, even now." She smiled. "It is just the way things are." She couldn't imagine how busy Aali would be, given his rank of Sultan. If Viziers were as busy as Faiz had been, she could hardly imagine Aali being home any longer than he had to be before the pride called him away. For a brief instant, she felt a pang of pity for Aziz, but dismissed it. Having the Sultan as your father was an honor, even if it meant it was difficult.

Aziz noded his head, his gracefulness falling away slightly to reveal the cub-like eagerness he displayed for the quest he would undergo. "I am. Very much so," he admitted to her, smiling. "And I shall be sure to bring her by to meet you, Cousin, once we have settled back into the pride." He wanted whatever banu he had to meet a lot of his family, since they were such a huge force in the pride, she would need to know and understand them.

He nodded at her comments of cubs, before looking down at his paws as she spoke of fathers. He adored his father, and looked up to him, but he wished he could spend more time with him. He knew Farrah would understand, seeing as her father was a Vizier, though not as busy as the Sultan was. "Your father and mine have very important jobs, I can understand that," he said firmly, nodding. He could have added 'but I still want to see him', but he did not. He would not disrespect his father by saying he should not do his job just to spend time with his son. Aziz saw him often, just not always one on one like he wanted.

Farrah nodded with a smile. "Good." She said, smirking a little. "We can't approve of her if you hide her away, now can we?" She teased lightly, smirking. No doubt the banu would be appreciated and made welcome in the family; Farrah was proud that her family was easy to blend into. Banus had been welcomed with open paws for as long as she could remember, whether they were born into the family or brought from the roguelands.

She smirked a little knowingly; Farrah knew all too well what went unsaid. She felt it herself on more than one ocassion. "It gets easier." She offered. "Or, rather, it gets easier to accept. Not easier to live with." There were things she would have loved to say to Faiz, things she would have wanted answers to when she was younger from her father, that had gone unsaid. It wasn't at the fault of anyone; merely time had passed, and she grew up, and Faiz was a busy Vizier. Life had a way of doing that, moving on. Farrah had accepted it.

She glanced at the water, and straightened up a little, smirking. "Have you met anyone in the pride who keeps your interest, Cousin?" She asked curiously, looking at him with an innocent grin. In her spare time, Farrah liked to try and figure out who was inevitably going to end up in whose harem. Especially within her family. She wanted to see all of her brothers and sisters and cousins happy, and entertained the notion that they would all have, or belong to, full and thriving harems. Like she would, one day.

Aziz looked amused at his cousin's teasing and nodded, thinking that perhaps he would have a family get-together to introduce his new banu to the family or something, or perhaps make her meet them one on one. Hmm. He was getting ahead of himself. He first needed to grow up and find the girl, then he could bring her home to the family.

He looked surprised at her comment and nodded. "I'm glad to hear that," he admitted. "I mean, I know why just...yeah, sometimes..." he trailed off. He loved his father, and his family, but he would have loved being able to spend more time with his father than he did. The downside of having so many cubs, he supposed.

His ears drooped a little at his cousin's invasive question and felt his cheeks heat. "That's none of your business, Farrah!" he whined back. Of course there was a girl who caught his attention. She was fascinating, after all, but he hadn't told her that yet and he hadn't even gone to her dad to ask for her and there was so much to do. What if someone else got her before he did? He looked nervous now. Perhaps he should hurry and get in contact with her father, or maybe his father.

She nodded, ears flattening a little as she thought back to her own childhood. The thoughts were quickly banished with the tone of her whining cousin. Farrah grinned wide enough to split her face. "You know, that in and of itself is practically a yes." She teased, grinning.

"Does your Father know?" She asked, ears perking. "Or your mothers?" Curiousity was one of Farrah's primary traits. She was, at the worst of times, just plain nosy. Especially in a pride such as theirs, where mating was practically a status symbol. "What is she called?"

Of course, she couldn't make Aziz answer. And she certainly wouldn't blame him. The few males she'd met as a child had been conveniently hidden behind half-truths and distractions for fear of getting in trouble. She was nearly certain it was different for males, but perhaps the feelings of having to hide a meeting were the same regardless of gender. "I won't tell, if you haven't made your intentions clear." She offered, smiling innocently.

Aziz shot her an unamused look, realising he had actually given himself away with his own refusal. Wonderful, his ears drooped self-consciously and he glanced away stubbornly.

"No!" he blurted out, when she asked of his parents knowing. "I haven't even told her father yet," he admitted lamely. He was going too slow, he knew, she could be scooped up at any point and that made him very paranoid. What if she was getting arranged at this moment?

At his cousin's question of her name, he looked surprised. He contemplated giving her a fake name, but at her reassurance that she wouldn't tell if he hadn't made his attentions clear, since meetings between unclaimed banu and pads were usually closely monitored, which their meetings had not been, he relaxed slightly. "Hazina," he mumbled, selfconsciously. "She is one of Pad Kame'bufuu's daughters, one of the best - if not the best - young banu in the pride at the moment." He said firmly. "She's not perfect yet, but she can be moulded, I'm sure. She's got a good base to work on." To be the best pad in the pride, he needed the best Banu - and Hazina was definitely the one with the most promise.

Suddenly, he realised that he really shouldn't be talking of a female that was not his own, and even though the one he spoke with was his cousin, it was still concerning.

"I should go," he said abruptly. "I don't want my family to worry. Good day, Banu Farrah!" He shot her a small smile, because, well, they were family but he had already said too much.

He moved quickly away from the female, cursing his own wayward heart for making him speak of Hazina as if she was his own. Foolish!
