Where the mountain and forest meet, there is a single spring. It is large enough to hold several people comfortably with room to spare for a child wanting a soothing swim. There are little animals that enjoy the steam and heat emitted here, so one has little fear of a beast disrupting their moment of relaxing and, for some, rehabilitation. The elderly find this the literal hot spot to sit and enjoy peace, but any age is welcome to these waters. The temperature is enough to sooth most to sleep, but it is not recommended to take a nap for obvious reasons. What exactly is heating the water is unknown, for the mountain has never been known to be anything but a mountain – well. Any geologist may be able to give a proper explanation, but the local legends would take blame to the shrine before the hot spring. Here, we give worship to the Fire Fairy and all it's past followers.

Alfric let out a soft yawn as he arrived at the spring carring a small bag to store his belongings as well as some drinky-drinky and a book with him as well. Upon arrival, a grin plays across his lips as he glances about, feeling the heat that radiated from the spring. He remembered hearing from some people that this was a nice place to relax and it certainly looked like it was. Setting the small bag down near the edge, he promptly stripped himself down until he was completely naked. He folded up his clothes and placed them into the bag before slowly sliding himself into the heated water, a soft sigh expelling from the man. He allowed his back to lean against the edge, his eye closing for a moment or two. He then moved a hand to get the small sake bottle he had in his bag, getting himself a drink before taking the book. The man now relaxes while reading. He made a mental note to bring his sister up here the next time he visits, the water and the tranqui air was quite nice and soothing to the young man.

That had been a hard long day for Yoakim. The mine had proven itself more difficult than usual. While it was often full of different ores and minerals, this it, it was praticly empty. He had been mining since the early morning, even before the sun had raise and yet, he had about a pound of coal on himself and that was it. Now, he was dirty, sweaty, tense and angry. Sure, he could have made his way down to the the house and taken a shower or something, but that usually included having to deal with people afterward, which, he had to admit, he wasn’t in the mood for. Well, he wouldn’t mind his grandmother… or someone quite like Ellie. However, there was no one he would have enough self control to not kill Kade, or Ellie’s sister Blair where he to interacted with them. Yeah, he was in the kind of a mood. That was why, he had thought of the hot spring. It was a nice relaxing place up in the middle of the nature. What was there not to like about it? Furthermore, it was quiet. He threw his bag on the floor and started to remove his shirt when he notice that the monkey in the hot spring was… well, was not a monkey. ”Oh…. I didn’t... I didn't expect someone to be here…” He told the Not-Monkey with his shirt still half on.

Alfric's emerald iris glanced over the pages of the book as he quietly read and downed the sake he had brought with him, there was nothing like a piping hot hotspring with a good read and a good drink. That was for damn sure. He didn't even notice any footsteps as he had been a bit engrossed in the book but he did hear a voice. Glancing up from the book, he saw a man who was apparently going to get in until he saw Alfric. He kind of wished that was a cute, topless girl but, eh. He didn't mind sharing the spring with another man, he wasn't gay but he was also comfortable with his sexuality. "Hey. hop in, I don't mind." He said with a light smile. He hasn't seen this man before...oooh, potential customer may be? "I'm Alfric by the way, Alfric Sinclair, what's yer name?"

Yoakim stared at the man for a second before deciding that he might just as well get it. Sure, he wasn’t alone like he had hoped, but at least the man seemed relatively… well, let’s say he wasn’t the kind to squeal and jumped around and crossdress… Although… was that an eye patch? Wasn’t the woman running the bar also with an eye patch? No, no. Get that thought out of your hear. It must just be a coincidence that two people on this island both have eye patch. Yoakim took a deap breath to calm himself and continued to strip down just like the man had done before him. As soon as he was naked, he went inside the hotspring, sliding down until water was over his head, then sat back up, water dripping from his hair. ”I’m Yoakim. Yoakim Leblanc…. He chuckled a bit when a realization came upon him. ”Ah.. I just thought –We both have French Surnames! We should be best friends!-… God, I hangout too much with a certain hairdresser…. “ He shook is laughing a bit at himself. ”Please, don’t mind me… I’ve been… Well, let’s say that there might be a bit more energy in my life right now than I wish for… Are you new here? I’ve never seen you before.”

Alfric glanced away as the man fully undressed. He didn't mind being naked in a hotspring with another man but he didn't really care to see the other's junk. He waited until the man was submerged to return his attention to him. He then placed a marker in the book and set the book where he kept his bag, grabbing the bottle of sake and taking a drink of it. Mm.
Hearing the other speak, his eye trailed to him, nodding some and offering him a drink as well but in a small glass he had brought with him. Alfric wasn't afraid of germs, he just couldn't afford to fall ill, especially when his sister can easily catch what he may have. Not that the other looked like he had been ill or anything, Alfric just didn't want to take any chances. "Yoakim Leblanc ya say? It's a pleasure." He spoke with a nod, his voice having a heavy country accent. He lets out a chuckle as the man points out that their surnames are french then tells him that they should be best friends. Alfric wasn't sure about the best part since he just met the guy but he wouldn't mind making friends with him. "Nah, it's fine. I wouldn't mind it if we became friends, I could use a few of 'em. But yeah, I'm new. Moved in not so long ago with my lil' sister. I own the bakery, ya should stop by." They needed more business. "An' tell yer friends too. I make the best pastries in the world." Someone is modest, isn't he? "What 'bout you? What do ya do?"

Yoakim took the small glass the man was offering him thanking him with a nod of his head. . It wasn’t Gin, but who was he to refuse alcohol? He took a sip out of it, letting the usual burning, but oh, so refreshing taste flow downs his throat. ”Oh… I was just kidding about that best friend part… It’s just something that Kade would have said… I guess he’s sort of rubbing off me…” He said, not at all realizing that the chances were high that the man had no clue who Kade was. What he realized instead, was that he had just been very rude. Damn social interactions! He blinked twice coughing to clean his throat. ”I… I mean... Uh… Not that I wouldn’t like to be friends with you… God knows I’m in need of male friends… It’s just…. I... uh, you know. I don’t want to sound pushy or anything. He looked down and sighs once more. Oh was he supposed to act right now? The best course of action seemed to be to simply disregard what had just happen and act as if everything was normal. ”Are you… Are you trying to use me as your living publicity advertisement? He laugh a bit. Not that that he minded or anything. It was just more amusing than anything else. ”It’s a small town. You are bound to making everyone here your customer if they ever feel like eating a pastry. I own and run the Smithy. Although… I have to say it’s more of a jewellery shop right now… I do tend to get… uh… carried away, when I make Jewellery.”

After the offered glass was taken, he allowed his hand to slide into the water as he listened to the other speak, furrowing a brow. Seems he knows that Kade guy. He didn't know much about Kade nor did he speak to him when the boy came into his bakery but he seemed like an alright fellow. Well, a bit more than alright since he was gay; that part for him seeming overly fond of his sister. He wondered if this dude was gay too. Not that he'd freak and run away, it was just a thought. "Yeah, that Kade is a lively one. Stopped by the bakery. I didn't speak with him, he was mostly talking with Karina, my sister. He seems to like her a lot, her hair too." He couldn't blame the man, his sister was as cute as a button.
Alfric chuckled when the boy tried to correct himself when it came to the friend comment. "I know whatcha mean, no worries." He was pretty easygoing.
On the public advertisement issue, he laughed again. Was he? May be. Alfric just figured that if he tells people to tell their friends, word would travel fast and perhaps they'd get a bit more business. "May be." He confessed with a grin, now listening as the other male spoke of what he did. Blacksmith? Alfric almost went that route as a child but he liked baking more. "Is that so. Well, I might just have ta stop by then. My sister likes jewelry." And he wore a stud in his ear.

Yoakim couldn’t help but to raise an eyebrow at that. The man knew the hairdresser? Well… that was Kade. He would make sure every new soul in town would learn who he was. He went to laugh a bit more, shaking his head before talking another sip of his glass. ”Consider yourself lucky if you didn’t talk to him more than that on the first occasion. When we met, he jumped out from nowhere screaming like he always does and grabbed me saying God know what…” He took a moment of silence remembering that event. He still wasn’t sure what his own feeling where on it. ”He surprised me so much that I thought he was a wild animal trying to maul me or something…. I ended up punching him in the face by surprise.” Sure, it had turned out for the best between them as they were now sort of dating. He had learnt to appreciate the boy even though his owns feeling lied elsewhere. He looked back at Alfric, figuring he had stared at his glass for a bit too long. He now had a smile on his face, unlike his usual bored expression. He was getting more relaxed and in a better mood than he had been ten minutes ago. ”Well, if you come to the store, I’ll have to go to yours. It would only be fair. I’ll even give you a discount just because I feel like it!” And because he had to get rid of all that stuff as soon as possible. He wasn’t selling nearly half of the things he made. Not that they weren’t of quality or anything. Just that he made far much more than the town needed.

Alfric couldn't help but laugh, he didn't think Kade was that random. The boy should be so lucky he didn't pull that on Alfric, he probably would have done more than punch him in the face from being startled like that. The older man didn't do so well with random people coming out of no where, screaming, and jumping on him. Someone did that once, he broke their arm...on accident of course. They scared him so badly that he acted out of reflex. He did feel bad about of course but, the dude shouldn't have snuck up on him like that. Though, after that, no one ever wanted to. But, he has tried to control that, especially after he accidentally backhanded his sister when she unintentionally startled him.
His head shakes.
"Sounds like he's a wild one but he seems nice from what I saw." And the latter was all that really mattered. He wouldn't mind at all becoming friends with Kade. He smiles a bit upon Yoakim's suggestion. "Sounds like a plan, man. A discount sounds awesome." Not that he really needed it. "Tell ya what, with you bein' so generous, I'll send some fresh pastries yer way, fer free. Like, a thank you. What kind are yer favorite?"

Nice? Yeah, Kade was nice. He was probably the nicest person of all the island. That boy was unable to hold a grudge or be mean or anything. Sure, his cheerful personality was a bit annoying but you would get used to it. If you could look pass that, he was the kind of person that was really easy to become friend with. He took a moment to think about it all. For some reason, he felt like he should spend a little more time with the boy soon. He was feeling all depress because of the cooking contest and loosing customers. He took a mental note on taking the boy out to change his mind... what had happen to the antisocial blacksmith? Since he had moved to the island, he had actually started to care about people... it felt... weird, strange.
The man smiled at the offer of free food. He didn't really care if it was pastries or a steak. Food was food and free food was even better! With the quantity he ate, having a reserve of food had always been Gladice's main worries. He could eat a whole week grocery in only one day, after all. "Oh, you shouldn't... bah, who am I kidding? Send me anything, really. I'll eat it whatever it is... but uh... if you have anything with grapes...? Yeah... I like grapes..." He smiled some more while looking back down inside his now empty glass. Grapes... he never knew why exactly, but he just loved their taste. He even went up to mix grape juice with any alcoholic drink he would make. They were just that good!

Alfric let out a laugh as the other said he shouldn't but then revealed how he really felt on the subject of free pasteries. No one could resist free food, hell, even Alfric loved free food. As they say, everything tastes better when it's free...food-wise anyway. His hand lifted to rub his chin for a moment as he listened to the man speak about what he wanted. Anything? Anything with grapes? There was plenty the baker could make with grapes in it. He personally didn't care for grapes or pasteries with grapes as the main fruit but of Yoakim wanted that, he had no problem with it. His job was to please the customers after all, he'd even make something he absolutely detested; comes with the business. Anyway. "Anythin' with grapes, ya got it."
His gaze falls to the glass in the man's hand, seeing it empty. Taking the sake bottle, he leaned a bit to pour the other some more of the delicious drink before pouring some for himself and drinking it all. "It's so nice here, ain't it? Perfect place for a nice bottle of booze and a good read, am I right or am I right?" He grins. "I heard it's also good fer the body, to relax in a spring. Is that true?"

Well, wasn’t today a great day? Not only had he found someone to talk to who wasn’t jumping around and screaming like most people he tended to meet, but Yoakim was also getting free grape-tasking pastries and alcohol! Life was good, life was good… It was so hard to find grape flavoured things other than juice. He should make a complain at the mayor or something about that. If he could export panther, wallaby and pandas to the island, surely he could bring a grape tree! Would grapes even grow in this climate? Bah, he would look it up later. For now, he was too busy drinking that alcohol that was recently put into his glass. ”Eh! Anywhere is good for a good bottle of booze!” Laught the blacksmith, taking another sip from his glass. “Yeah, it’s nice… I usually come here after working in the mine. It’s relaxing and usually no one bothers you… Unless you’re a baker, it seems” He grinned on that. He had thought about it, and this was actually the first time he had seen someone at the hotspring when it hadn’t been planned. ”I dunno how good it is for the body, I’m no doctor, but it sure feels great. Better than a bath or something like that. Folktales say it’s because of the Fire Fairy….” He then pointed toward the small shrine that was near the edge. It had been dressed there to give worship to the fairies in ancient times. ”Also a tradition to pay your respect to it before leaving the spring.”

Why Usagi was here she wasn't quite sure. She had just been wandering around and she had stumbled upon the hot springs. "How relaxing," she thought aloud. There was no way she was getting in there though, that would mean she would have to get naked. There could be creepy perverts out there and that was not a risk she wanted to take.
