I was taking a look at someone's work the other day and I discovered this. Whenever people write description they develop an overwhelming urge to list. List features, list adjectives, list clothes etc. Not that this is an especially bad thing, but it can get to the point where every word forms some kind of list. I want to see whether we can break the habit.

Note: This is more a challenge than a contest, and although there will be a winner, there won't be prizes - unless somebody would like to donate some.

So, onto the criteria.

Writing type: A description.
Subject: A description of a person from the view of someone else.
Length: No shorter than one hundred words, no longer than one thousand. Come on people, a description, not a novel.
Prize: Since I don't want to charge money for entering and I'm pretty dirt poor at the moment there isn't really one.
Due date: 1st of February, 12 midnight. wink

My criteria (aka, what you will be judged on): No lists. This is to see whether it is possible to get an accurate picture of somebody with out listing characteristics. It doesn't necessarily have to be about their physical appearance but that would help a bit. Try to include emotions, similes, metaphors and ever (gasp) a small storyline. Be creative and go where the mood takes you. This is supposed to be fun, so enjoy yourselves.

After the contest is over, I'll put up a poll for people to vote for the winner.
