Ellie was sick of the questions. She was sick of this feeling of confusion as well. The E.R. had so many questions about the injury that the teenage girl walked in with. She claimed it was a thug wannabe who stabbed her with a crappy little knife. The guy didn't even know how to shank someone properly, the dumb idiot.

In all honesty, it would have made Ellie feel better if that was really what happened.

Her parents both got on her case when they picked her up from the E.R. Sure, they were grateful she came across an idiot, but they also got on her case because they knew she had obviously provoked it. Even Dad, who was usually on her side even told her maybe she should be walking places so often anymore. The city wasn't safe.

Her injury no longer hurt, but it still had to remain bandaged up for a while. Why the hell her parents seemed to think this was a big deal really seemed to stir up all forms of rage in the blonde! Instead of being an obedient daughter, Ellie had snuck out.

She ran and ran and ran until she just felt like she was about to burst before stopping under a tree in the park. She stood there, leaning over herself, panting as she attempted to catch her breath, and in all honesty, catch up with her own raging emotions running through her mind.

Why can't they trust me?!

Her eyes rather suddenly shot up from the ground she was staring at and looked around hurriedly, as if trying to see if things were safe. When convinced she was alone, she henshined up. Feathers loomed about her for moments before fading.

No longer was she Ellie Spectre. She was Sailor Iris. It did not mean her emotions had faded with the change. She turned sharply and kicked the tree before pulling something out.

"Hey Metis... meet up with me at Meadowview's soccer field. We're going to train."

With a touch of the button, she hung up before Metis could even question what was going down.

Before she could question it her butt!

Metis bit her lip, brow slightly furrowed as she leapt from building to building. By cutting off the conversation so short, Iris had given the brunette more than enough time to question what spurred this sudden training session. And by not giving any form of explanation, she'd supplied plenty of time for Metis to arrive at hundreds of most likely incorrect conclusions.

Green and copper waves glided around her as she moved rather freely through the air and across the empty, "reflective" surfaces that were man-made structures. Every now and again as she walked around as a civilian, the mental images of a world lit by life energy would fit itself into her mind, a faux sight of the world around her as she envisioned it. The echos of sound from her cane tapping, tongue clicking, feet pounding, set up a spacial rendering all its own - a fact she was more and more becoming aware of without her magical sight. Still even now she could hear how her footsteps echoed differently depending on her surroundings, a fact then stabilized by what she was "seeing."

It would have put an awed smile on her face if not for the rush of the current situation.

Medowview rose into view, the soccer field soon behind it. The mass of green waves surrounded her as she hopped down from atop the school building, making her way cautiously to the field. "Iris," she called, calm as she could, "I'm here." The muffled sounds of her boots on the grass made her supress the wince of how redundant it was to say that. Surely though it was better than a barrage of "What's wrong?" or "Are you okay?" because that clearly worked oh so well last time they'd spoken.

Sailor Iris didn't spend much time lingering and ran to the soccer field. It was much easier in this form to run and not get exhausted. It took much less effort and she still ran faster than she could when she was merely Ellie Spectre. By the time her teammate arrived, the yellow-suited senshi was standing there with her arms crossed. She was waiting.

It was a smart move for Sailor Metis to avoid the dreaded (and more than likely, OBVIOUS question). It always amazed the blonde with how mousy her teammate seemed. It was like the girl could never stand a chance fighting.

That was going to change.

Uncrossing her arms, the taller girl walked forward with a swagger that seemed to read that she was serious and meant business. "Yeah... ya are..." She nodded her head and drew closer until she was pretty much in Metis' face. The Senshi of Rainbows' face was serious, but had an underlying anger to it.

"Yer gonna show me everythin' ya can do. No powers. What ya can do wit' yer hands and yer feet." The taller girl held her hands out to her sides. "I ain't gonna be blockin'... so hit me with yer best shot, Metis." The strange thing was, it was very obvious that Iris meant exactly what she had said.

Her head moved slightly as she took in Iris' form, eyes moving on habit to check for any obvious signs of distress. Beyond, you know, the rather serious - and angry - aura that permeated the area. Metis' brow was going to become stuck in its furrowed state at this rate. She could see no reason behind the sudden session, never mind hadn't the slightest idea what had the blonde in such a... a temper? Was that even the proper term right now?

Still, she kept her mouth shut once the other began to speak, keeping her ground even when the bubble of personal space was popped. Hands at her side lax, breathing regular, only her expression highlighted her confusion and faint unease of the moment. This neither increased nor decreased at the somewhat odd request, but considering this was for training... Metis gave a silent nod, puzzled nonetheless.

"Very well then..." She knew only so much. Anything she did know easily paled in comparison to Iris' abilities. But that was why she was here, to learn. This in mind, she took a few small steps back, took a breath, clenched her fists, and just as she'd done in their first training session, sent a roundhouse kick right to Iris' side. It was a start. If Iris really wanted to see what she could do, then it was a start.

At times, the way Metis carried herself about bugged Sailor Iris. She just seemed so mousy at times, and when compared to her own strong personality, it had a tendency to grate upon her nerves. The blind girl seemed to hesitate slightly, but before the blonde could bark out the command to get on with it, the black suited senshi of the pair finally got to it.

As the girl backed up, the more senior-ranking senshi just folded up her arms against her chest and waited. It wasn't a long wait, which was a good thing considering Iris' mood. Metis rushed in, then kicked. As promised, Iris did not block or try to really defend herself. She felt the softer section of her body get beat in, pain naturally surging through her nerves. For all she felt, the only noise that would escape her was a grunt.

Taking in a deep breath, Iris then let out a chuckle before telling Metis "Keep goin'..."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 04, 2011 11:33 pm

In her mind, Metis wasn't being mousy so much as polite. She was not someone to barge in with her opinion, but rather wait till someone else was done speaking before getting her turn to talk. Though she did have her limits before even her temper flared up, it wasn't especially common.

She just wasn't the rough fighter type Iris was, simple as that.

Which was why even getting a grunt out of the far more seasoned fighter made it actually worth it to her. Her foot back on the ground, fists still raised, she couldn't help but smile a little at Iris' prompting. "Just getting started." This time, she twisted around the opposite direction, landing another kick to Iris' other side. Her leg slid down as she continued to move forward, momentum pushing her on, and her fist was sent directly to the other senshi's jaw just as her boot hit the ground again to keep her from - hopefully - toppling over. The other fist thrust out to connect to her stomach, something it didn't have to move far to do, considering how close her previous moves brought her.

Metis might not have been fully sure of what she was doing, but she certainly hoped all the random fights and previous lesson from Iris had done something to improve her fighting ability.

Though she took everything her partner dished, the most Metis would receive were grunts. Very notably, whenever she hit one of Iris' sides or stomach, the tomboy made such noises. The hits to the face did not receive any sort of vocalization to acknowledge it.

Before any more punches or kicks could be made, the eternal senshi said quite plainly what she had observed. "Your attacks are predictable and calculated. Ain't gonna win ya any fights." The brunette had been using the simple "1-2" strategy of hitting, and after maybe 2 or 3 hits, her opponent would eventually catch wind and know which side of the body to look at.

"However, ya seem t'know th'vital areas t'hit... which is also pretty damned good..." One hand signaled for her to keep bringing it on, but with a slight warning upon her breath. "Now... I block..."
PostPosted: Sat May 14, 2011 2:07 pm

She couldn't stop the small pout at hearing it was predictable, but really, should she be so shocked? Especially since she even had to admit to herself she'd started falling into "routines" with any training she tried doing on her own while out on patrols. Her jaw hardened as she pondered how to best then go about making things unpredictable...

It didn't occur to her that that could just bring the opposite effect. Note the calculated portion of what Iris said, Metis~

Did cheer her up a bit to hear she had something right at least. "Vital areas alone won't win fights then, I take it?" Well, apparently not, if Iris was doing nothing more than grunting at it. Strength? Speed? What was actually needed to win a fist fight?

She nodded silently though when Iris bid her to keep going, raising a brow slightly to the addition of blocking. Well in that case... her fist went right for Iris' face, while one of her legs aimed to knock out the blonde's beneath her. Idea behind it? An attempted distraction while she tried to trip her. Not that she had any idea how actually effective it would be...

"No," was about all the blonde could say before the action started up again. The black gloved fist went flying towards her face, and predictably the higher ranking senshi swung her own gloved hand to prevent the hit from connecting. Even the sheer force of her block could have easily been mistaken for a hit. Though Sailor Iris had taken the bait which Metis had offered her, something seemed a bit off with what happened next.

The brunette's kick connected with the side of the other senshi's leg, but she did not tumble down so easily. In fact, the senshi was still standing there as firmly as before. Her opponent's sweep had not been complete enough to actually make it fully around and force the blonde down to the ground. In all honesty, all this was doing was forcing forward the fact that Sailor Iris definitely was far more experienced in the fighting than her partner. If it weren't for the fact she had promised to only block, the taller one probably would have been able to dodge that kick. However, dodging was avoiding the problem, while blocking was actively defending against the problem.

Sailor Iris didn't say a word. Instead, her golden eyes looked to the blind green ones in a way that read "Keep going."

Yes there was a wince at the force of Iris' block, but Metis at least had the nerve and smarts to just keep it at that and not let herself have a further reaction to it. You get hurt in a fight, suck it up and deal with it. Or, at least, she was sure that's what her combat trainer would say.

She could have cried in dismay about not knocking Iris off balance at all though. Mentally, she made a stubborn note to ask what exactly she did wrong later.

Instead, she kept on sending out the punches as she brought her foot back underneath her to support herself and put more of her weight behind the hits. Though she was unable to see in perfect clarity the other girl's gaze meeting hers, Metis was able to get the silent message through body language and silence alone. She tried punching away the fist that had just blocked her, sending an upper cut towards Iris' gut. Did she especially know what she was doing? Nope. But it didn't hurt to try different things and see if anything worked.

For the more seasoned of the senshi, it was growing increasingly obvious that Metis was growing more and more desperate to get an effective hit in. The hits that came at her had much more force than those first two in this particular bout. A fist seemed to try and shoo away her blocking hand, and though there was a bit of give, the arm still remained up firmly. The upper cut was a change from the routine, and though Iris had moved to block it, Metis managed to sneak her fist into the her opponent's gut. In her own defense, she let out a loud grunt so she could tighten up her muscles behind that punching hand ever so slightly.

Iris didn't shift to move or anything. Instead, she grunted out something for Metis to keep in mind. "Take advantage of proximity when ya can... or yer competition is gonna do it for ya..."
PostPosted: Sun May 22, 2011 10:50 pm

She wasn't desperate! Well, okay, maybe a little... Er. At least this was only training? Though at this point, she wasn't too keen on seeing how she faired in a real battle. Although, in a real battle, her opponent would also be stumbling around blind for a few moments at least...

Pale green eyes stared in Iris' direction for a moment, brow wrinkled. Point for at least getting a hit, but how was she supposed to 'take advantage of proximity'? Head-butts wouldn't work here - Iris was too tall for that. A rather random idea hit, one she decided to try. Two fingers went right for Iris' eyes. "Like that?" She couldn't stop the note of confusion from lining her words, sadly.

"Good!"

Despite the word that escaped her lips, an elbow shot up and managed to knock her opponent's hand away from its target. Before Metis had time to react, she then grabbed the wrist she smacked away and twisted it behind her almost like doing some sort of fancy dance move.

The yellow suited senshi panted slightly. Her anger had died down with these efforts, and now she was ready to end it before her partner got injured.

"Ya did good..." With that, she let the brunette go with a stern "Now I know ya got questions... so ask'em before I get goin'..."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 03, 2011 3:53 pm

The sudden end to the "fight" startled her, letting out a little yelp in shock at having her arm twisted around. Not that it was painful, per say, just more shock value than anything else. It was only curiosity that Metis stared at her teammate in, breathing a bit heavy after all that.

A little smile wiggled its way onto her face, happy to have acted right when it came to using proximity. Fighting might not have been her forte, but she supposed it wasn't super complex once you realized the logic of what would hurt, and what wouldn't. Or just acted on instinct rather than actually thought about it, hm....

Turning to face Iris again, she thought for a moment about her possible questions. Certainly had a few. "I guess first is... what did I do wrong when I tried knocking you off balance?" She thought she did it right, but seeing as the taller senshi had remained perfectly vertical... "Second... how are you not... predictable, in a fight?" She frowned a little now, still not sure how to move away from the apparently typical moves one would expect in a fight. "Does it simply come with experience or..?" If anyone would know that, she was quite confident it would be Iris.

The taller one stood to her full height and seemed to smile at her teammate. It was as if she was trying to match the smile on Metis' face. If anything, Iris momentarily felt quite a bit prouder of the brunette than she suspected she would. However, she didn't let that overly sweet smile remain on her face for long.

When the questions were out in the open, Iris wiped the expression off of her face and replaced it with one that was more neutral. It was an expression to take seriously. "Yer sweep wasn't extended enough. Ya gotta keep yer opponent's size in mind, and where as, yer thought in makin' me go down was good... ya didn't adjust yer kick to compensate fer th'fact I am bigger than ya."

The second question was not nearly as easy as the first. "Predictability. Ya did better in the second half. Ya didn't stick into a pattern which could be seen pretty quickly. It's hard t'do at times... but ya should honestly be makin' yer hits based off of th'fight itself. Sometimes it's easier t'stick into a pattern, but then yer givin' yer opponent a lot of information. Break a pattern at an unexpected moment and it will give ya an advantage. However, it's better to not have a pattern at all." A hand went to ruffle her own hair along the back of her head. "It really does jus' come with experience if ya ask me... I mean, ya see th'signs if ya fight enough." She shrugged her shoulders lamely.

"Ya did a good job though... ya might be able t'not get yer a** handed t'ya by some Negaverse dipsh*t."
