Im planning to do a Kaito Cosplay for Halloween this year, any advice on making a good look. I want to make one from scratch to be original not a full costume from a cosplay store.

if you're gonna make it from scratch, my advice to you is keep reference pictures with you while you shop for fabric so you don't get something off colored or something like that and pay special attention on what kaito wears so you have ideas of how you want your costume to turn out

Hmmm... Well, when I got my materials, I carried them around the whole fabric store with me so I could make sure all the colors I chose worked well together.
Also, always make the arms holes in the coat bigger than you think you'll need them. Make sleeves that are wide enough to match. I made my sleeves too narrow at first and it was uncomfortable. But fixable.
Don't use satin. Just don't. It's icky to work with. Okay, I used NONSHINY satin for the scarf, and that works. Don't try to make the coat, pants, or anything else with it, though. It looks bad and is horrible to work with.

oh yeah, make sure you measure yourself first. otherwise you might end up with clothes that don't fit or are extremely loose

I have no idea how to buy a coat for this. I made mine. ^^;
Coats are pretty easy, though. You can probably make one.
Two long, narrow pieces for the front. One long, wide piece for the back. Arm holes. Then it's all just hemming and detail work. Sorry if that's not helpful; I make things up as I go along when I sew, and it usually works out, but then I can't give good instructions to other people.
