Kubwa’Jazi was far too young to be out on his own and usually the little leopard wouldn’t stray from his mother’s watchful eye but the cub had been fascinated by the strained movements of a three-legged lizard – and honestly who wouldn’t? - and followed the creature up a rather tall rock. It was pretty steep so as easy as it had been to climb up, getting back on the ground was proving to be far more intimidating.
From his position he could actually see the pale shape of his mother just a little far away so he knew she’d help him if he called for her which was definitely a comforting thought. Of course, that would imply that he had to make his mother move when she appeared to be quite busy with some of his siblings and show her how weak (or coward) her son was and the last thing Jazi wanted was to be a bother for Tifu. It was enough that mom had to raise them on her own.
The little leopard sighed, sitting down with his tail neatly curled around his body and took a good look at the ground. He was gathering the courage to jump… it would just take a while that’s all.

Despite all the warnings her family had given her, she couldn't help but wondered what lied just outside the borders of her land. So as she grew to her next age she knew she just had to find out. With a heart full of excitement and curiousity she stepped out of the boundry lines of the pridelands. Just one step and she was no longer in the land she had known since birth. A land she ran, play, jumped in, and had known all her life.
Though she loved that land she knew she had to see more of this world, and with that a smile grw on her face as she took off running. As she ran she felt the wind blow in her mane, which let her know she was free. Though being Free ment able to explore, it also ment she had no one to protect her but her heart was to childish to know that. For in her heart everyone was good, so why should she worry about protecting herself?
As Zaina began to look around she noticed how beautiful the land out here truely was. Though as she turned around she also noticed she had no idea where she was. "Uh .. oh .. looks like I lost my way," she said in a cute but slightly nervous voice. Looking around she tried to find a place she could go to take a break to see if she could figure out which way to head next. So as she turned her head to look around, she noticed a mound of rocks near her right side. "Perfect!" she thought as she slowly began to walk towards them not paying attention to anything else around her.

It took a while before Jazi finally noticed the dark shape approaching. The little leopard’s head twisted to look back at his mother whose pale coat deeply contrasted with the dark pelt of the newcomer, worried eyes silently asking Tifu for comfort.
He didn’t want to make a sound and draw attention to himself especially when he was feeling this vulnerable. He knew he should really get down from the rock and run to mom but he just couldn’t when the small height was looking more and more daunting with each second that passed. So the cub just dropped abruptly with a tiny whelp, body glued to the rock’s surface as the little leopard hoped the potential threat would just walk past him and his family.

Coming up close to the rocks edge where Zaina planned to take a break, she looked up and around. Nothing around her current location looked familiar to her.
Though as she scanned the area her eyes stopped as she spotted what appeared to be someone on a rock. "Yay! Maybe they could help me," she thought as she jumped slightly in the air with excitement, as she walked towards the person with a smile. Being lost was just no fun, though having someone in her sight was a little more comforting. She thought maybe that just by seeing someone else she wouldn't feel as lost as she truly was. So with each step she took she kept her eyes glued to the person in her sights, having the mind of an innocent cub she did not even think how that might freak someone out.
Though as she slowly approached the other person, she watched the person with her eyes, and then she suddenly saw their body drop to the rock. She dashed towards with great speed not thinking of anything but their well being. Even though she didn't know the person she still was very concerned, and when she arrived she said with worry showing in her voice and face, "Oh my gosh! Are you okay?!"

The large odd cat was moving towards the young cub and Jazi froze in panic. The slow approach was bad enough but the intense stare made him feel like he was something that was about to be eaten. For a second he almost considered jumping from the rock but he was too scared to actually move. When the dark cat started running, Jazi closed his eyes and hissed instinctively under his breath, one paw lifting protectively in front of his face.
The dark cat’s words and tone had the trembling cub slowly lowering his defenses, a surprised expression now adorning his features. But with the adrenalin still pumping vigorously through his veins, the young cub could barely think at that moment.
“Uh?” he finally managed to say, looking positively dumbstruck.

"Are you okay?!" Zaina said terribly worried that that the person had been hurt. Her face didn't always show the emoticon she wished, though right now her face was showing a look of shock. One minute she was out lost in the wilderness and next thing she knows shes rushing to someones side. In her eyes everyone was the same a soon to be friend. An if she saw anyone look like they were hurt she would rush to their side.
Though as she she came back down to earth and looked more at his face she noticed he looked rather shocked. Then it hit her maybe she had scared him? Well just in case she looked towards him still worried but also apologetic and said, "Sorry if I scared you I didn't mean too. I just saw you fall and ran over here as fast I could. I was worried maybe you had got hurt or something. I really am sorry if I scared you, but from a distance you never know what is happening." After she finished speaking she tried to half smile towards him though it came off rather goofy looking.

It took a while for the young leopard to raise his head and take a proper look and the larger cat. When he did, Jazi realized she didn’t look the least bit aggressive. The female – something – looked quite concerned and her words only seemed to confirm her expression and body language.
“I’m okay.” He said quietly and he couldn’t help but to return the smile when hers seemed so genuine. He didn’t need to tell her she had scared him. That much was obvious and saying it out loud would probably only serve to make her feel worse. His claws clinged to the rock still. “I was trying not to be seen. We’re not supposed to go talk to strangers.”
Though he did want to talk to this particular stranger. Breaths slowly becoming more controlled, the leopard’s eyes traveled to the strange shape of her body and head and the odd tuft of hair at the end of the feline’s tail. She couldn’t be a leopard, he didn’t think so. So she was probably one of other cats mother had talked about… a lion or a cheetah…
“I like your tail…” he finally said after a few instants of quiet contemplation. “I’m Jazi. My mom is over there.” He added the last part almost instinctively, just to warn the stranger that bad intentions could land her in whole lot of trouble with Tifu.

As soon the young creature said he was okay, a feeling of relief rushed over Zaina's head. "I'm so glad he's alright," she thought quietly in her head, for she never liked when others got hurt. No matter what kind of past someone had, she believed no one deserved to be hurt be it physically or emotionally. Pain was pain simple as that. "Well I'm glad your okay," Zaina replied as she listened to him explain what he was doing. "Oh I see well that actually makes sense," she said in return to the young one, "I mean I'm not really supposed to talk to strangers either, but I sometimes do anyways." As she soon as she spoke that last part she giggled a bit, she didn't mean too. Though it was slightly funny how she had just, realized that she was actually a bit of a rebel.
Zaina slowly difted off into her thoughts again, though she was quickly brought back as her tail was complimented. It took her a few minutes to respond, but she was shocked since never in her life had she ever been complimented on anything. "Oh well thank you, I like your tail to its so white and fluffy," she replied with a child like happiness sound in her voice. She was happy she had come over to meet this new person, even if they had met by her mistaking what he was doing she was still happy. Though why was she so happy, she thought in her mind for a few seconds before realizing. This happiness she was feeling must be what it feels like to have a friend. A friend the one thing Zaina always wanted to have, but never got the chance too. "An oh well glad to meet ya Jazi, I'm Zaina'Nafisa. Though you can just call me Zaina." she said with a friendly smile before continuing, "Oh I see well your mother looks really nice. My mothers back over in the prideland borders somewhere, since ot be honest I'm not really supposed to be over here."

“Oooh.” The cub stared in awe of this older cat that seemed so strong-willed and interesting when he compared her with himself. “Aren’t you scared? Mom says not all strangers are nice and some are very big. And doesn’t your mom worry?” Tifu would definitely worry if Jazi were to suddenly disappear or get hurt so Zaina’s mommy surely would as well.
Jazi smiled as he eyed his tail, giving it a playful flick. He sat a little straighter then, quickly growing in confidence as he started trusting this... cat. What was she anyway and how did one go about asking creatures’ around for their species? Would it be impolite to just ask her directly? Adults knew these things at first sight so he guessed that it wouldn’t be considered a personal question but the thought of appearing rude – or ignorant – still made Jazi slightly anxious.
“I have a longer name too but everyone just calls me Jazi. I’m a leopard.” he started slowly and tentatively, hoping she’d reveal her own species without the need of a blunt question. “You’re not a leopard...”

"Not really. I think everyone has some goodness inside of them," Zaina said with a smile. Since in her heart she truely believed that no one was evil, and that no one would hurt her. In her eyes she truely couldn't see how naive she being, then again she'd never seen even part of the world until today. "Well my mom doesn't really know I'm out here..." she said rather quietly since she wasn't really sure what her mom was thinking right now. did she miss her or were things the same as when she left?
As the thoughts came in and out of her mind her smile almost began to fade, but as soon as she saw him flick his tail her smile grew stronger. She couldn't help but giggle everytime she saw it move. His tail was so awesome she just couldn't ignore it. Trying to flick her tail as he had done she responded, "Oh I see well I think Jazi fits you even if it is just a shorter version of your long name. An a leopard? I've never met a leopard before." "What were leopards again," she thought deep in her mind with curiousity, While still trying to flick her tail they way he had.
As she heard his last few words she giggled, "Your right I'm not, I'm a lion."

“You’ve never met a leopard? Really? Are there no leopards in your pride?” Were leopards rare? How odd, his mother had never said anything about it. It was very hard for Jazi to imagine a place where there were absolutely no leopards. He saved the part about “everyone having a bit of goodness in them” for later as it was something he’d like to consider more carefully, most likely with some helpful input from Tifu. And then, just as the cub had hoped, Zaina revealed her species to him and it was one of the cub’s silent guesses.
“A lion! So you’ll be really big one day, right? You’re the first lion I’ve seen.” If memory served him right, lions were the biggest cats out there and - usually – the most dangerous ones as well. But Zaina seemed far too friendly to ever become a threat and the little leopard cub more than a little charmed by the older cat. “I’ve never seen a cheetah either. Or a serval. And there’s more but mom said he had to be a little older to talk about it. Hey, do you want to meet my mom?”

Zaina just shook her head. "I don't think there is, since I've never seen one there before. I know we have tons of lions though!" she said with a smile shining on her face as she thought of the pride lands. Even though it was boring there, it was a place she called home and where her family resided at. Sure it was the family she rarely ever saw, but still her family nonetheless. So whenever she thought of her pride she had wander off from, her family was the first thing that popped in her mind. These thoughts always made her mind wander off into the air...
Hearing him begin to speak again she was drawn back to the conversation. Zaina couldn't help but giggle at his comment as she replied to his comment, "I guess I will be. Never really thought of that before. An I am? Well oh gosh, I feel honored." She couldn't help but wonder, was she really the first lion he'd ever seen? If so that was amazing ... "Though to be honest your the first leopard I've ever met. I'm glad I met you too, since your actually really nice," she said with a smile as she continued to speak, "Oh Really? Me either! I've always wondered what all the other species looked like. That's probably why I came out on this journey in the first place." Then she paused for a moment, and thought about the last thing he said. Zaina was a little surprised by his offer. Meet his mom, would that really be okay to do...she part of her kind of did want to meet her. Since she was kind of curious to what she might be like. Plus if she was anything like Jazi, she would be wonderful to meet. "That would be wonderful! If your mom wouldn't mind."

Wow, a big place with nothing but lions and not a leopard in sight. What a strange thing that would be. “I’d like to see other species, too.” The cub said with some excitement. Zaina sounded so cheerful and adventurous, he couldn’t help but to feel more than a little charmed by her spirit. Jazi smiled widely when the lioness seemed to be interested in meeting his family.
“Great! I’ll go ahead and tell mom first.” Jazi said with a happy grin, dropping from the rock with a confident hop now that he had a big soft body to soften his fall should he miss his target or trip after landing. Thankfully, none of those happened and the young leopard managed to land on the ground with a lot more grace than he expected. And even though he realized Takatifu might be slightly taken aback by the sudden arrival of a lioness, Jazi figured that considering Zaina’s size and bright nature, a small introduction from his part would be enough to start a pleasant meeting. “You’ll like mom, she’s really nice.”
And with a small chuckle, the little brown leopard ran ahead of the lioness to tell his mother they had a visitor. - FIN! -
