Dead mice aren't much fun.
You're right, Gaia on a touchpad is painful. Booty Grab with one is worse.

I also use a laptop. My hand cramps up form time to time but I don't normally have to jack in my mouse often. yay wireless mouse.
I thought perhaps a pet had been destroyed

My touchpad isn't so bad, thankfully. It makes navigating the MP with an attempt at any kind of speed a little difficult though.
