Needless to say, the world was one giant shock for Demetri Wright when he woke back up.

Let's see, mother dead thanks to the untimely coma curse. At the wheel was not a good place to fall asleep, and unfortunately Demy's mother never woke back up. His father? Yeah, he didn't seem to care at all.

Then there was Z. Before the weird comas hit the city they had had their problems. And shortly after Demy was out of commission for...god, how long had it been? It seemed like forever. Now he was awake and things were still just...weird between them. Super weird. Epic weird. He had a lot of hopes that things would smooth out between them but as the days went by the blonde just didn't know anymore.

After that, well...those that never woke up from their comas. He knew a few there. Then those he simply couldn't get in contact with. What had happened to Mister Wiseman? The replies to his letters had suddenly stopped... Was the wizard sick of waiting for a reply from him while he was out, or had something worse happened? Demy would probably never know.

The worst of all was what happened to their leaders. Charonite and Nealite, two people that in Demy's mind would never falter. Hell itself could be breaking loose on earth and those two would still be there to lead the Negaverse. Yet the rumors whispered between the agents told another story. One Demy simply couldn't...wouldn't believe. There was -no way- the two had met an unfortunate end. He could have seen it himself and still wouldn't believe it. With the rest of his world so crumbled and fragile, this final piece of information would completely shatter everything he knew.

So clearly, he had to put a stop to these rumors himself. And what better way to do it than take some nice sweets by the Killingworth apartment?

At 2am.

Deep inside he knew. This wasn't going to be Ursula. Charonite wouldn't be there to threaten to throw him out the window. Yet he still bought orange and black cupcakes, with one purple one for the general king who probably never liked cupcakes in the first place. But these thoughts were pushed aside as he rang the doorbell, forcing a smile on a face that hadn't seen one in days. He -would- be happy, he -would- deliver these cupcakes, and even if this wasn't the Ursula he had known he could still be buddybuddy with the Queen of the Negaverse. Right?

At least there was no mistaking just -which- agent stood on the doorstep waiting, what with his clothing always dictated by an overuse of colors and glowsticks at any time of day.

Demetri Wright had apparently never heard of the saying "let sleeping dogs lie".

It was two o'clock in the morning.

It was two o'clock in the morning.

While there was no General-King to rampage to the door and send him off, there was a much more terrifying inhabitant residing within the apartment.

And Demetri Wright had just awoken that inhabitant.

She hadn't heard the knocking at first. It was a soft thump in the back of her mind, a noise invading her dreams. The knock grew louder and snapped her out of her dream world, her eyes promptly opening as she took a moment to regain her bearings. It was dark. The alarm clock was a bright red two o'clock in the friggin' morning.

The knocking didn't stop, even when she closed her eyes again. It wasn't a dream. Someone apparently had a Death Wish and didn't plan on stopping until she granted them said wish.

A robe was located, soon draped over what was quickly becoming a favorite nightgown. The clothing of the twenty-first century was by far the most comfortable of things - not even the 80's provided material this soft and...well, fashionable.

Bare feet padded their way down the hallway and she paused momentarily by the bathroom to glance in and examine her hair. Fingers combed through, straightening unruly curls, and then she finally made her way to the door that was still knocking.

Dark, half-lidded eyes stared out at the hallway occupant as the door slowly creaked open. The hallway occupant who was cheerfully smiling as though he had no earthly idea what time it was and that normal individuals did not knock on other people's doors at two in the morning. Two in the morning. It was a struggle to restrain herself from lashing out but the knowledge of having to deal with the after effects of murdering a student on school grounds kept her temper in check. Barely.

"Mr. Wright... is there a reason you're at my door at this time of the morning?"

"...Mister Wright? Aww cmon now, you can call me Demy, you know that Miss Ursula!"
He was still beaming away, seemingly oblivious to any changes in her behavior. Or simply ignoring them, that was always a possibility.

"As for why I'm here, I've heard you've been a bit down in the dumps lately so I thought I'd bring you some cupcakes! I woulda brought them sooner but I've been kinda...asleep and then stuff happened and more stuff and then I had to find the perfect cupcakes soooo here I am! Besides, this is the time I visited last time and Mr. Killingworth didn't...well kill me so I thought it'd be okay. It's ALWAYS a good time for cupcakes!"
Here he held out the delicious morsals he had so painstakingly picked out, that grin still on his face as he hoped beyond hope she enjoyed her gift.

Afterall, how couldn't she enjoy it? They were delicious! They were awesome! He had picked them out! They were sure to be a winner.

"Can I come in? Pleaseeee? I haven't seen you in sooooo long, though..yeah I was kinda out for most of that..."

The urge to kill was steadily rising and one hand moved up to rub the bridge of her nose. Her lieutenant had come to pay her a visit. With cupcakes. At two in the morning.

"Down in the dumps is a bit of an understatement, don't you think?" Feet shifted and her hand readjusted itself on the door. "And what exactly makes you think that I won't kil-"

A neighboring apartment door opened, no doubt a fellow faculty member having been awoken by Demetri Wright's boisterous personality as well. Without a second thought, she grabbed the neck of his shirt and yanked the teenager inside the apartment, closing her door swiftly behind them both. Her back pressed against the door as she stared at the teenager, cupcakes still in hand.

He was still grinning, to boot.

It would be so easy to end his life, right here, right now. Or freeze him, the smile forever permanent on his face as he clutched onto those stupid cupcakes. Both tempting - oh so tempting - though if she kept murdering officers left and right, there was a slight chance she'd lose what loyalty she'd already gained with her faction.

Politics. Sigh.

"If I eat one, will you go away?"

He kept smiling.

She didn't hide the second heavy sigh as she pulled her robe together and made her way into the kitchen. A clink later and she'd returned, two small plates in hand which were neatly placed on the dining room table. A chair was pulled out and she seated herself accordingly.

Eyes drifted to his bag and one hand outstretched itself to take the offering. "Alright. Let's be done with this."

Being yanked inside hardly phased him. Afterall, last time he was here Ursula had teleported him to the roof. Being pulled around was nothing new to him, so the smile stayed put.

The question simply earned a "why would I go away? I have MORE cupcakes, and we could do stuff! Not shopping, sadly, it's too late for that but we could do other things! We patrolled last time, remember? It was pretty awesome!"
Yeah, this wasn't Ursula. She wasn't -acting- like Ursula. But Demy was quite content to keep pretending it was and move on.

He'd be fine, really.

The teen slid into the other chair, the cupcakes plopped down on the table between them. That grin was still there. Really, the time she should be worried was when this particular lieutenant wasn't smiling.
"Here, I picked out this one just for you!"
Demy quickly pulled out one of the orange and black cupcakes, the one with the most frosting, and handed it over to the queen. That finished, he selected one for himself and sat back. While he wanted to dig in, he had to make sure the Queen was happy first.

"Sooo? Do you like it?"

She stared at it as though she were expecting it to sprout legs and run off. It was a cupcake - Ursula had loved them, but had Beryl had anything of the sort before, herself?

One hand gingerly picked it up from its plate while the other moved to cover a yawn. She stared at it some more, then brought the pastry up to her lips. A nibble was all it took for the heavy rush of sugar to hit her taste buds and her nose immediately wrinkled in displeasure.

Using one finger, she scraped off the excessive amount of sugar and plopped it onto the plate in a swirl of black and orange. Reaching out to pluck her napkin, she wiped her finger clean before reattempting a nibble on the now bald cupcake.

A bite, a chew and then what looked to be a satisfactory smile.

"Much better."

After another bite, the cupcake was returned to the plate to rest alongside the glob of uneaten icing. Her attention had now returned to the cupcake bearer.

"Demetri..." She paused, staring at him as though she were studying a specimen in a laboratory, "Demetri, do you know who I am?"

He was witnessing cupcake murder.

Sometime during the terrible beheading of the innocent cupcake, Demetri Wright's mouth had dropped open in absolute shock. Better? BETTER? How could something like -that- be better? It wasn't even a cupcake anymore! It was a sad sad shell of what was once a proud cupcake. Maybe he should eat the icing and give it some sense of worth in this world? But...well Ursula's bald cupcake was still -right there- and it'd be kind of rude to reach over and steal her icing even if she wasn't using it. Maybe she was saving it for last? It didn't look like it, but he could hope.

But, he was staring! That wasn't polite either! Demy quickly went back to consuming his own cupcake in the preferred manner (bottom first, delicious icing saved for last) to try and cover up the fact he was so disturbed by her actions. This lasted a moment or two, until the question startled him right out of enjoying that cupcake.

"..Of course I know who you are!" He was grinning again, meeting her stare with his own amused look. "I mean, who -doesn't- know? You're the Queen of the Negaverse!"

He didn't elaborate further.

What was the correct answer here? He wanted to think this was Ursula, desperately -wished- it was. But Ursula wouldn't have beheaded a cupcake. Ursula wouldn't be giving him an almost predatory look. And if this was Ursula and her house...well Charonite would probably have kicked his a** across the town by now.

Another pause.

"...W-why do you look like Ursula?" Seems even slow little Scheelite had figured it out. "I can keep working for you right? I'm a hard worker!"

He was looking more nervous than happy at the moment. Perhaps he also figured out that this Queen was a lot more likely to kill him than the previous one.

Relief washed across her tired face as the young Captain seemed to finally comprehend the fact that he was no longer dealing with the redheaded bimbo that used to parade around in the body she was currently using as her own.

Hands fell down and fingers linked together with one another, the plate having been pushed away (if she saw another cupcake in the next millenia, it would be far too soon). Her expression was unreadable, save for the momentary relief that disappeared as soon as he asked his follow up question.

"It was necessary to take on an identity while living here, among the citizens of Earth." Her expression failed to waver, her eyes staring directly into his, "And with both General Nealite and the General King having plans of treason..."

Her voice drifted at that, orange eyes casually glancing to the side, as if she were lost in thought. "They were punished for their crimes and I resumed her identity. It was the most logical course of action, since we had shared a body to begin with."

Eyes returned to his face - Beryl knew from Ursula's thoughts what this boy had meant to her. She also knew, to some extent from the memories, how much Ursula meant to this young Captain. A relationship that required severing - fast - at any cost.

"I would be greatly disappointed if you chose to leave my services, Scheelite."

Her attempt at sounding comforting was less than stellar. It was far too early in the morning to pretend - she just wanted both the boy and any talk of Ursula out of the apartment as soon as possible. "I trust you will not fail me as my former Generals have. You have a bright future in the service of the Negaverse; your eagerness is....commendable."

T-treason? General King Charonite and General Nealite had plans of treason? Hadn't they been running the show? Weren't they the reason Beryl was back now? Hadn't they taken care of the Negaverse in her absence?

He was so confused, the emotion easy to read on his face. Part of him wanted to break down and cry. He had to admit, finally, that on top of everything else that had happened he had lost Ursula. His buddy, his shopping partner, and....well the person he showed up to at all hours of the night to give cupcakes to. He missed her, missed his mom, missed everyone the city had claimed while he was in a coma or shortly after.

The pain, the overwhelming sadness tore right down to his soul. Cracked it, made it vulnerable, and finally let the darkness seep in to the light he had left.

"I won't leave your services, Queen."
When he lifted his gaze, she'd find his eyes had narrowed in determination. The overwhelming bubbliness with which he had crashed her apartment was gone, for the moment at least.
"I won't fail you, that's not an option. Not from someone who wishes to find himself where your former generals once were. -Before- they failed you, of course."
He would find his way to the top. Would find a way to be a general of their Queen. Maybe even something more if he could manage.

He'd do it. For Ursula. She had always comforted him and encouraged him to do something more. He could do this, and even if she wouldn't be there to see it he'd accomplish this goal.

He had to.
