Helios had a jaunty swagger in his step as he strode through the forest. A good meal, some time with a couple of rather forthcoming ladies, whom he didn't have to pretend to be doing other than something he wanted and the rest his time spent with them had given him left the big male feeling rather good.

It had been a while, to be honest, since he'd felt fully himself and he wondered, now, where to go. Before he'd bumped into that delectable pair he'd been mostly wandering here and there, skirting packs and doing his best to scratch a living. No more, he thought. No, it was time he settled down, the head of the pack, perhaps father a few brats to actually keep at his feet. The two female's maternal wishes had apparently rubbed off a little on him, and he was wondering if he'd left other spawn across the forest. Maybe there'd be a little son, one day, whom he could teach all he knew to.

Letting his daydreams take sway, he was barely paying attention to his surroundings.

This was the second time she had encountered Helios, and the second time she'd done so without him noticing her right away. It was rather amusing, how unconcerned he was with the world around him. She couldn't even begin to imagine what he was thinking about.

"You know it's really best to keep your mind in the present if you're on your own," she called, so that she wouldn't startle him by getting too close. "I could have had my teeth in your hindquarters before you noticed I was even here."

With her warning out in the air, Nendiya felt free to trot up to walk alongside him. "Do you have a particular destination?"

Her discovery of Helios wasn't an accident this time. She had followed the wolf's scent and tracks for several hours before finding he hadn't gone very far at all. The service he had done for her and Istanzi was much appreciated, but Nen had doubts that once around the bush was going to take. So, leaving Istanzi to nap and do as she saw fit, Nen had gone off hunting-- only she intended to find more than just rabbits or grouse on her trip. Namely, she was hunting Helios for a repeat of his generous contribution to their lives, in the hopes that twice might work as the charm.

Helios almost jumped, but schooled his body and face just in time. Gritting his teeth, he counted to five, breathed out the gasp he'd taken in when the female had come out of nowhere and when he turned to face her he had a sarcastic smile on his face.

"Well well well, look who it is" he crowed. "Back for seconds? I understand I know I'm irresistible like that". Part of that was an indelicate jab at her for sneaking up on him and part of it he truly believed. What female wolf would choose another female when they could have him?

"Good to see you again, Nendiya" he purred, knowing she had likely come after him for one thing alone but not, for once, entirely sure why. "As to where I'm going? Where the winds take me, I should think" he let a little of his 'romantic character' out, even though he knew she had seen his other side, knew that wasn't him. It was a good character, a good front, which had an answer to everything.

"That sounds wonderful," Nen admitted. She had enjoyed the way she and Zizi had left their pack without knowing whereelse to go but "North." The idea of just walking without purpose for a while did sound very romantic.

For the moment, she left his comment on coming back for seconds alone. It was true, wasn't it? It was just easier to not let him get to her.

"I'm glad I ran into you," she replied, glancing over at him. He knew, almost as well as she did, how unlikely it was that she had just "happened" to run into him in such a vast forest. "I did want to talk to you."

"Came back for second helpings, did you?" he preened, stretching his body head to tail with precision - showing off his more-filled-out body. Of course, its current state was mostly because Nen and Izzy or whatever her name was, the pretty pale girl was how his mind's eye remembered her, had helped feed his scrawny body with his first decent meal in ages.

Of course, that didn't stop him from lording it over the female, whilst waiting to see how she'd go about asking for his special brand of 'help' again. His smile was predatory, a stark and uneasy contrast to his good, golden looks. In any fairytale he'd have been a beautiful blonde prince charming but Helios only bothered to use charm when he needed it and, right now, he wasn't sure why he should bother.

Nen eyed him as he grinned lasciviously at her, and then shrugged. "I guess I'll have to find another male. I don't think your seed took the first time, which is why I came back. But, if you're not interested, I'll have to find another male to help me."

She stopped and turned back the way she had come. She loved his pelt, would have loved to see her pups mixed with it, but if he was going to turn into someone nasty, she could always find someone else.

Zizi would be so disappointed though...

Her feet had only taken her several steps away before that thought stopped her, and she looked over her shoulder at him, tail flicking a few times. "I had hoped you wouldn't mind helping me again."

"I never said I didn't want to help you" he purred, knowing how she prized his looks. Much as he did, in fact. He didn't want to entirely give up his chance at some fun just because of her over sensitivity, though.

"Come on, now, you know I wouldn't turn away a fair maiden in distress. Especially one who's not as unskilled in the the ways of having fun as her current mate would attest" a subtle dig, but she had pretty much called his seed unable and he wasn't having that. He had surely fathered a pile of bastards across the wood, right? A while ago that thought might have scared him, but now the thought of being unable scared him more...

Sensing some kind of change in the game, Nen turned back and smiled easily at him. "My mate is more precious than you could possible imagine. We females don't share the same kind of needs in our relationships as you would with a female. But we do sometimes need... more than that."

She ambled back to him, suddenly looking very suggestive. "I hope you'll forgive me for not prostrating myself in front of you, but if you're willing... I would like insurance on having pups. Even if the first time does take, which it still might, I would feel better knowing I have that added chance."

She nipped lightly at his shoulder when she got close. "And for all my mate's lack of skill, she rather liked the thought of us having puppies by you. I'd rather not disappoint her."

Helios snerked, his eyebrows twitching up in amusement "I actually would rather you prostrated yoursef - makes this sort of thing easier, y'know" his knowing, smirking maw was perhaps a little less nasty and a bit more playful, if a cruel kind of game. He knew that it was more a matter of how it'd go about that if it'd go about now.

He shivered a little as she nipped his shoulder, enjoying the game, relishing it. For all she sometimes seemed to get the better of him, and that he preferred, in some ways, her little pale slip of a mate, Helios had to admit there was something about the fiesty green female that made playing the game with her interesting. Even... fun? That was certainly something he'd not often experienced but, then, he'd not often gone for her 'type'.

Nen's smile eased at the joke into something slightly more genuine and she turned her back on him and flicked her tail to the side. Her eyes sparked with amusement as she glanced over her shoulder at him. If this could be made easy, that seemed all the better to Nen, and she wasn't about to ruin the start of his good mood.

"If you'd prefer it." She slid into a stretching pose, enjoying the feel on her shoulder muscles. It had been a fair walk since she'd left the den, and what did she care if he thought she was submitting to his will? In the end, they'd both walk away with what they came for.

Despite the businesslike nature of their 'relationship', Helios had to admit that Nen didn't exactly make it hard for him to do his job, a pleasure in fact. He almost wondered, for a split second, if there were others out there like her who wanted pups but not a father. That'd certainly be a fun job...

With a slight smirk on his face he got back to the one at hand, admitting to himself that the last fortnight or so had certainly been one of the most enjoyable for him in a long time.

Nendiya didn't move a muscle as she gazed out into the night, hearing the sounds of small creatures searching for their meal and a few night birds calling out among the bugs. It had been an exhaustive day-- more for Helios than for her, she was sure-- but she was fairly well assured that if the first time hadn't done it, one of the subsequent times had. If nothing else, she could say Helios was a willing partner.

Her concern went out to Zizi though. It wasn't as if the wolf was in danger, but Nen had been gone all day. She was going to have to head back soon, and make sure to catch several rabbits along the way to make her absence seem plausible and keep up both female's strength. She wasn't going to be at fault if the pups didn't take.

It didn't hurt that now that the business was over with, Nen missed her mate. She would have to wash off in the waterfall pool to get his scent off of her, and if she did become pregnant, she could confess then. The last thing she wanted was to get Zizi's hopes up if nothing would come of it. And if no puppies were forthcoming, well... they would have to find a new male.

Helios sat a little ways off, grooming and looking somewhat pleased with himself. A little something in him had sparked with these encounters, and he wasn't sure when. He wasn't really ready to admit it yet, either, but doing something for Nen, even if it was something he very much enjoyed himself, had felt sorta good.

Well, of course it had felt good, but you know, another kind of good, a little higher up. Shaking his head, he chanced a glance back at the green wolf, letting his usual smirk dance across his face but only because it was expected, and got to his feet.

"I guess I'll be getting on my way then" he said, aiming for diffidence "I'll keep heading this way for a while, probably turn west towards the sea. Not been that way for a while". Not since his failed coup against his cousins. The invitation was subtle - he was letting her know where he'd be if she wanted to come by him again.

Nen rose to her feet as well, stretched, and then smiled at him. "Thank you. I hope the rest of your journey goes well. The sea is beautiful. It'll be a nice change of scenery from inland."

She turned her head towards the sound of something in the leaves that sounded larger than the usual mouse. "I need to find the day's meal for Istanzi and I. Good journey to you."

Her feet took her the opposite way from where Helios was heading. The sound had seemed like a hare, or possibly something a little more dangerous-- racoon, maybe a skunk-- but somewhere in that range. If luck was on her side, she could find three or four of them before she made it back to the den.

Helios nodded, wishing she was off to find him a meal - after his exertions he was certainly hungry and their last encounter had ended with him feasting on deer meat. It had been uncommonly good after months of not feeding. That wasn't going to happen this time though, it seemed.

"Good journey" was all he said, though, as she receded into the forest, heading away from him. The last bit of fun he was likely to see for a while. With a soft sigh he turned to face the direction he'd said he was headed in and set off at a slow pace, figuring that he didn't want to head so fast as to be too far away for her to find him.

Good journey, eh? Well, his had certainly been interesting lately...
