Breathe in...
Breathe Out...

Eyes closed, slow movements of the legs and arms helped relax the tense muscles. He felt the breeze and let his feet slide across the sun-warmed grass.

Breathe in...
Breathe out...

Tai Chi was something the Ranger often did, twice a day if time permitted it. Once in the early mornings when it was still cool out. And once as the sun was setting, letting himself catch the last dregs of warmth as it gave in to the cooler air of night. With it, he was able to let out the stress of the day with a great deal of ease.

Plus it was something his partner could join him in. And something that the pokemon did just as often as his human partner did.

Just a foot away from where Mike was standing, Muir was mirroring his movements; his eyes, too, where closed. The only thing different about Muir was the extra movement of the Raichu's tail.

Aila did not wish to squander her first day off - a thing, she gathered from overheard conversations, that was a rare treasure to be cherished and used to its fullest extent - but somehow she found herself back in Camphoreon, wandering about the familiar city with boredom gnawing away at her.

The girl's meandering gait brought her to a large park, a place she had oftened practiced with Fleur in the past. She approached a tree with bark cut and peeling away: the target she had used in honing the Bulbasaur's skill with Razor Leaf. A sense of nostalgia washed over her, and she walked around the tree, gazing up into its branches with a small hand trailing along its gnarled surface. Her path was interrupted by the sight of a man and a Raichu practicing some form of martial arts a short distance away. Instinctively she hid herself behind the tree, peering out to watch their unknowing performance.

The two were elegant in their motions, like dancers. Aila practiced a number of different styles of gymnastics, but she would never consider her own garish movements - as much as she attempted to add grace to them - worthy of being viewed by others as entertainment. She found herself enchanted as she watched, almost unblinkingly so.

Both pokemon and human continued their exercises despite they now had an audience; even Muir, with his excellent "spidey-senses" didn't notice being so deep in his meditation he was.

As they continued, it was noticed that the Tai Chi movements were being shifted into mixture of yoga poses. Some where held longer then others; after a few moments of these, the male stopped in with his hands held in a prayer position infront of his chest while standing on one leg. The other was folded like it would were he sitting indian-style on the ground. The Raichu, try as he might, could not mimc these movements (due to his shorter limbs). He stretched and cooled himself down before opening a pair of golden eyes and shaking himself out with a dignified "Chu".

It was when he went to steal a mouthful of water from his partners' water bottle did he spy the human watching them. His tail flicked like a whip as his eyes narrowed.

Who was this female? And what did she want?

A slight disappointment gripped her as the Raichu surrendered in his efforts to mimic his assumed trainer. Their duet had been wonderful, though, and Aila was looking forward to the man's solo performance. A certain curiosity tugged at her as she studied his posture, and she wondered if it was within her capacity to imitate it. She took a step back and somewhat further into the tree's cover before rising to a single leg and folding her hands in front of her. She stumbled forward, however, before she could complete the pose, catching herself on the tree. Her cheeks and ears burned in mortification.

The stumbling had not gone unnoticed by the electric pokemon; one hundred percent of his attention was now on this girl. Fur bristled, he bared some of his teeth at her while his tail lashed at the ground.

"RAICHU RAI!"

This broke Mike out of his trance; stumbling a bit to keep from hitting the ground, he raised an eyebrow at his friends' sudden aggressive behavior.

"Whats up, Muir?"

Hazel eyes followed the pointed finger, landing on where the girl was hiding from view. Scratching at the back of his neck with one hand, he gave the monotone pokemon a quick "chill out" gesture with the other before returning his attention to where his buddy was pointing.

"Ello?" There was a faint aussie accent clinging to his words. "Any there?"

Aila was appalled by the violent reaction with which she was greeted. For one, she had not even been aware that the Raichu had seen her. What impudence that it would behave so rudely completely unwarranted!

...Or so she thought in an attempt to drown out the embarrassing possibility that she had been seen in her clumsiness. How utterly unbecoming.

She hesitated on how to react when she was called to. As a member of Team Rocket, and a trainee at that, she felt it may be unwise to indiscriminately present herself to others, even if she had no intent of betraying her alliance. Finally she opted to hide herself, and with all the stealth and nimbleness of the successful young jewel thief she had formerly been, she quietly ascended the tree and roosted amongst its leaves.

Mike stepped into the former hiding place and looked around but saw nothing. And there was nothing really there that said someone had been there too.

"Chhhuuuuuuu...."

He shook his head at the sulking Raichu and went over to graba swig from his water bottle. "Either yer seein' ghosts or yer getting senile in yer old age, my friend."

That last bit was ment to twitch a nerve like it always did. Cheeks puffed out with annoyance, the pokemon flailed its arms at the humans while spouting out an angry stream of pokemon language (probably a mixture of "Im NOT OLD! along with some swearing). Mike only laughed as he walked over and gave his friends' ear an affectionate pull.

"Alright alright, 'm sorry." He tapped his chin in thought for a moment before tossing his t-shirt back on over his undershirt. "How about we go grab some brunch? I think they're serving Pecha Pancakes today?" Out of the corner of his eye, Muir perked up instantly at the mention of one of his favorite foods. Sweets were always the right cure for a sulky pokemon.

A breath of relief passed her lips when Aila realized she was in the clear, and she adjusted her position in order to more comfortably wait for the pair to depart. She leaned forward just slightly too far, however, and the pokeball clipped to the ribbon on her chest was nudged out of place and went plummeting to the ground. The release trigger was pressed by the impact, and a brief flash of light found Fleur freed just as the man mentioned food.

Food, now there was a concept! There was an idea! There was a novelty that the Bulbasaur could get behind one hundred percent! Uttering a few happy and excited sounds, she bounded over to the man with all the speed her short legs could muster.

Aila could only watch in wide-eyed horror.

The flash of light went unnoticed by both human and pokemon but the happy sounds of the bulbsaur behind them did not.

Mike did an about-face and stepped back just enough to give the grass-type some room to stop before it ran into him. But, when it did, he crouched down with a large grin while Muir watched the pokemon from his perch on Mike's shoulder.

"Well, heya there. Whats a pretty pokemon like you doing wandering around by herself?" A swift glance around the area revealed no one in sight. "Did ya loose yer trainer?"

As Muir grumbled softly and glared at the tree Aila was hiding in, his partner reached into a small pouch on his belt and pulled out a handful of pokeblocks. One was given to his Raichu before several were offer the to Seed Pokemon as a token of good will. "Here ya go, little one."

"Trainer"? Fleur had one of those. She was just over there, in that- WHOA FOOD. The sudden presentation of the pokeblocks pushed aside all thoughts of the Bulbasaur's human. Fleur's expression could be likened to that of a destitute old man who, after decades of unwavering faith, was in his final moments rewarded with an audience with his god. Gingerly, graciously, she leaned forward to accept the offering.

Aila retrieved a band and a pin from her hair, fashioning it into a kind of miniature slingshot as dark locks settled around her neck and shoulders. The weapon was anything but deadly, but the impact, she hoped, would at least provide enough of a distraction to facilitate her swift escape if she deemed it necessary. For the time being she merely took careful aim and waited for any sign that this man would do harm against her Bulbasaur.

Mike could only laugh at the expression on the pokemons' face, letting a smile linger on his lips as she enjoyed the offered treats. As she did though, he careful reached to stroke the pokemon; first on her head and giving the pokemon a gentle scratching behind the ears before moving to touch the leafy bulb on her back.

As he did, the lessons of living on a breeder ranch for most of his life kicked in: "Hm...You seem to be in excellent health, little one. Color is good and you definately have the energy you should." He chuckled softly. "Not to mention I dont think yer appetite is a problem either..."

Thats when an idea hit him.

"Say, little one. Why don't you come stay with Muir and I while we keep an eye out for yer trainer? Better then having you wander around by yerself. Someone might grab and run off with ye then."

What was he doing? How dare he lay a hand on Fleur? The band was drawn taut, and Aila glared, ready to fire at the first indication the seed pokemon was in pain or danger. The man's gesture, though, seemed innocent enough. The girl made a mental note to check Fleur for any signs of bugging before returning to the base. She remained in position despite the fact that the first threat had passed - there was still no telling what this stranger's intent was.

Fleur, meanwhile, was completely oblivious to the tension that could have visibly dripped from the tree's branches. Here was a man with food! Food that tasted good without ketchup! She wasn't completely sure what he was talking about, but if it meant more food, Fleur was on board yesterday! She started in ecstatic circles at his feet, Aila continuing to scrutinize the trio's activity from her perch.

She was so easily won over, that Bulbasaur... Surely she wouldn't do something as foolish as to leave at that man's side...?

While Mike worked to calm the excited pokemon down, his partners' "spidey senses" were sending out major DANGER! signals. He slid off the humans' shoulders and made way towards the tree were his hunch was telling him to go...

But he wasn't going to climb up in plain view.

Slipping out of sight, the Raichu began to quietly climb up the tree to investigate...

Below, he was laughing as the little Bulbsaur ran around in circles. "Dang, talk about a sugar rush." He grinned at the pokemon. "Are you sure you weren't a Growlithe in another lifetime?" He moved to grab the small bag at the base of a tree before standing straight and glancing around.

Muir had vanished.

Where the bloody...
"Muir?!"

"RAICHU!"
FOUND YOU!
Behind Aila, the monotone electric pokemon popped out of the branches with a harsh expression on his face.

Aila had been concentrating on the man who dared touch her Fleur and had not noticed the Raichu disappear. Instinct guided her at the sudden cry behind her: Fluidly, she whipped around, tightened the band as far as she was able, took aim, and released. The pin went sailing to its mark, she did not care to wait and see if she had hit or missed; the former thief quickly relocated to a higher branch. It was from there that she was finally able to identify the thing as the Raichu.

The sudden movement had caused a commotion of rustling leaves, alongside the Raichu's triumphant cry, that did not go unnoticed by Fleur. She then remembered that her trainer was within that tree and immediately went to its base, staring up into the branches with a distressed "saauurrrr!" Vines arched out from her bulb in preparation to attack if she decided it necessary to defend her human.
