I have a ton of these things official and unofficial. My teacher even has one that he put together. My friend just put one together as well and included Tank! in it. I guess he wants me to do the Bb version.

Real Fake books drive me insane. I'm really quite bad at them, or at making them work beyond the basics.

Remind me again what these things are..Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's an arrangement of a piece in a different key? Therefore they're mostly for beginners? sweatdrop ninja

Real and Fake books are pretty much autorized or unauthorized books full of lead sheets and chord changes. Great for playing in combo's if you dont have alot of music to play. Some books have basslines as well as harmonies and such. they can be a great source to look at if your doing an arrangement.

My favorites are the old fifth edition berklee ones. Sure, they had a lot of errors in them, but they left a lot to the imagination, which brings about some fun experimentation. If you can get your hands on that one, I recommend it.

I really am starting to hate realbooks. In addition to frequently being wrong, they omit a good deal of standard tunes and yet leave in a good deal of obscure ones.

Speaking of Tank! my school's Jazz band is playing that this year. We actually have Jazz band this year, w00t!

Yeah, I've got the fifth edition too, but mine is in rough shape with a number of pages missing from both ends and the edges all tattered.

I love the pocket-sized C Real Books that my teachers at Berklee used to carry around

Not at all. If your band's going to play a gig, it helps to have someting like that around, if only just for reference.

I have quite a few, myself.
