In the hour that Serah had convinced her brother to let her out, Serah had found things were worse than she thought. Serah was sure her brother would be angrier but she wasn't coming home tonight. She had brokenly promised him she would only be out an hour. To "check up" as she termed it. But the situation was far more dire and heart-breaking to return home now.
Why..? The same thought over and over ran through her head. The single question that was universally asked.
Instead, the negaverser sat on the roof of the building that had previously harbored Nealite and Charonite. She had seen their chamber in the Negaverse room. The first place she had looked to report into-- instead, Beryl appeared before the shocked Serandite. It was "their sin," the betrayal to their Queen. Trying to press for more details that wouldn't be given, Serandite's mind took on a numb state. Too shocked to press for more details, Serandite had found herself out of that room and on the rooftop where she previously spoke to Nealite. Or rather, Ursula.
She was curled up, knees hugging her chest, her expression red and cheeks marked with traces of tears. She regretted it-- why hadn't she been here? If she had, would she have been able to help? How could the leaders that she adored transform into such a state? Their devotion-- it was hard to imagine them committing any form of betrayal. Serandite was sure that the situation was bigger than she knew. Ursula had been here for her-- Heck, even the General King had bandaged her up. Why hadn't Serandite been here for them?
Why had she fallen into that ridiculous coma? That stupid stupid coma. First clenched, one could hear Serandie verbally battering herself.

Seventy percent of human will is supposedly governed by some sort of control. Perhaps that is the excuse that Torbenite gave himself when he fled: that it had been on instinct, laying low like the shameless coward he was because he had always, always, saved his own skin first.
And yet, as time flew by and, well, nothing much more happened, this fear became replaced with an odd curiousity. What indeed happened to the Negaverse that once sought everything: was it his imagination or were things incredibly, strangely, quiet, a city consumed by dreams to wake up weeks later and continue living just as quietly as sleeping.
It was his first time down this street in months: he had been avoiding this neighbourhood, much like someone who averts their obligatory workplace, for fear of spotting someone they recognized. To be honest, he had tried his best to tie positive emotions to Nealite - Charonite being out of the question - but short of her smacking his face with a mirror, and her strange Lieutenant-Captain appointments, he really did not know her that well enough to really care. There was no remorse or resentment, only a strange wisp of nostalgia.
It was getting dark now, the overcast shadows against the night sky made walking in this suburbia nearly impossible. Like methodical clockwork, Torbernite scaled the buildings, looking left and right for signs of danger before dropping his posture rather sheepishly. In a quiet night like this, of course there was noone else aro-
- hold that thought. At first he thought it might have been some sort of strangled cat yowling, but as he listened, heart pounding against his chest nervously, it occurred to him that the voice was both human, and were they crying?. But who at a night like this...? It couldn't be - well he was close to her house.
Slowly, with trepidation, he inched closer, and did a double take. Smallish figure, ornate uniform, and a hairstyle he could recognise from anywhere. Serandite. But what was she doing here at this time of night?
Torbenite wavered uncertainly. Crying girls always made him feel awkward, not to mention there wasn't much he thought he could do. Like he had done for so long?
Oh, ******** it. Inching a little closer, he cleared his throat, trying to catch her attention, hands deep in his pockets in nervousness. "Um... hi... didn't know you were here." Maybe if he played it cool, things would go along smoother?

The last memory Serandite had of the dragon ball lieutenant was the last time when he had called her flat. Or more accurately phrased, she had nothing to show. Even if that had been true, he should have known it would hit a girl's pride like nothing else. Nothing else. Not even the word "fat" would have been as effective.
Which is why he was the absolute last person she would have wanted to see on this side of the planet.
The sound of his voice chased away Serandite's worries for the moment, allowing for the anger and grudges that had built up to return, her posture stiffening. She stood up immediately upon hearing his voice, her back turned towards him, her gloves furiously wiping away tears before Tobernite could catch sight of it. (Nevermind the fact he already had.) Both gloves now wet with moisture, she turned around to face Tobernite with a nearly impossible stubbornness.
"I wasn't crying." She declared stubbornly, her tone leaving no room for Tobernite to argue. Even with her eyes rimmed with red puffiness, her expression remained obstinate, hands clenched. If she had taken a moment to get past her anger, she might have noticed Toby's nervous posture. She might have realized that Tobernite had gone out of his way to talk to her. But she didn't.
"If you tell any of the other captains that I was, I'm going to--" She cut off, the reminder of the word "captain" bringing memories of that strange captain's meeting. She seemed to choke up with emotion before sitting back down again.
...
......
".......... whatareyoudoinghere?" The words came out in a soft mumble, loppy sat there deflatedly in serandite's tight embrace. (If it was real, she'd be choking the poor thing.)

Torbenite squinted really hard, leaning just a little closer due to taking the other's words literally. She wasn't crying? Well her eyes looked really puffy, but it might have just been some sort of make-up fad. "If you say so," he began dubiously, only to back away a bit at the other's thread. "Whoah, wait what? What does this have to do with the others?"
God what was he doing here anyway? It would have been better just to leave her to wallow in her misery, though the pink bunny did ruin the 'miserable' mental image. "I uh.... came to..." he began, searching for anything to break this awkward cycle, "Uh.. apologise. Sorry about that."
He had been referring to intruding upon her rather unwanted not-crying.

"Nothing. I'm just wondering if you were here to see.. the Queen's apartment. The old queen I mean. Not the new one." Serandite hastily said, the excuse only part of the reason why she was here. She rubbed her eyes to make absolutely sure that there was no wet streaks, rubbing her face and taking a deep breath to calm her panicking insides. Soon, the redness was starting to fade away from her crying expression and gain some normal color.
She thought he had been referring to their last incident, ages ago. After all, Tobernite didn't really have anything to apologize for the moment. Or at least, not anything that came to Serandite's mind. She stared at him blankly for a moment, wide brown eyes blinking before registering his apology. She looked away with a frown quickly with a little "huff", arms curled around her knees.
"Nope."
"You're not forgiven." She turned her whole body away, her back facing Tobernite. "Even if it's true, you can't say a girl's got nothing to show. You just.. murdered her heart. Right there. With ten different knives." Serandite explained, her mouth set, if possible, in an even deeper frown at the memory. There had been a senshi there right? Not that Serandite cared since the senshi had been the least on her list at that time.

There was another queen!? Before he even had time to digest this piece of information, his reluctant moment turned into one of incredulity. Oh great, now she was upset and pouting. There was really no better way to descript Serandite's rather long winded outburst.
"Um, look, I didn' t mean that," he began, gesturing both both hands, "I meant the, you know, the stuff with, okay, what the heck does it any of it have to do with hearts and knives?!" This was seriously a conversation his train of logic did not follow, saying a simple sorry had already took half his dignity.
Well, might as well go for the other half. "Okay, look whatever heart murdering happened, we should probably put it past us. Even if you can't forgive me for, uh, multiple heart wounds, though in my opinion you don't look like you're suffering from any sort of chest failure, at least work with me okay? We're on the same side."
A very quick, and low 'I think', was muttered after that. It was worth a try, and the captian had very, very few allies.

Tobernite was hopelessly confused and at such a loss, anybody on the outside looking in might have been rolling in laughter, as hilarious as the situation was. Even if she explained it, it was likely the confused captain wouldn't understand the argument. After all, if your chest was flat, your chest was flat. It couldn't be helped. (Or it could be, through plenty of products.)
But even Serandite wasn't immune to the situation.
Serandite's back hunched up but not from anger or sadness as it had been initially. That slight shaking.. from laughter? She turned around, her laughter evident now, one hand covered her expression. She couldn't stop herself from laughing for several moments, trying to contain it but clearly unsuccessful in doing so. "Your understanding of girls is as big as your dragon ball." It wasn't an insult-- more of a fact-of-life. "But that'll do. We are on the same side, after all." She agreed cheerfully, holding out her fist for a fist bump with the other. It was her first smile of the night, the one she gave the other.
It seemed that they were on good terms now. With the entire world of senshi, police and civilians against the negaverse, it wasn't beneficial to have enemies within the negaverse as well.

Someone up there hated him. There was a god of crying pink haired girls that absolutely wanted to make him suffer, there really was no othe reason for Serandite to burst into more tears. Dear lord, someone make it stop, he promised he wouldn't go around bursting any more heart vessels, honest to God, not to mention the eardrum damage. Not wanting to sound too impolite, he tried to scramble for some other "reassuring words", when it occured to him she was actually laughing. At him.
Girls.
".... My dragon ball." Torbenite repeated stupidly, still not getting over the crying to laughing part. Serandite's second sentence barely made more sense than the first. At least she had stopped the crying thing. "Um... yeah. Yes, go team power and all that." He absently fistbumped the other, missing the first time, to fumble the second time. Awkward.
A good moment of silence passed between them in where the captian half expected the other to just disappear into think smoke and a light case of LSD aftereffects. Nothing happened much other than a sudden occuring thought. "Hey," Torbenite scrunched his face, "My dr.. my dragonball is not THAT small." Ah yes, size compensation issues.

"Your dragonball isn't that big either." Serandite pointed out, amused, phasing back into her civilian form. Having met him before with Theresa, she easily let her guard down. After all, it was Toby. If there was someone you could let your guard down around, it was him. He didn't pose a threat to her civilian identity-- Hell, what was he going to do? Kidnap and sell her?
No.
She waved to him, pulling her bunny hooded jacket closer to her body as a chilly breeze flew past them. "I'll see you later, Toby." She grinned, her hand lifted in a small wave. She did feel a twinge of pain, walking past Charonite's apartment. Theresa's lights were off, indicating the other was asleep. Without Tobernite there, it might have been a lonely night indeed .. Especially without Theresa. But in place of the female, temporarily, the captain had consoled Serandite with .. his.. natural personality. While more degrading comments than not could be said, the night and the previously cold moon seemed just a little bit kinder.
Just a little bit.
Her hands cupped over her mouth, her breath trying to warm chilled hands, Serah left in the direction of her home, nearby.
