Today was hot, and not just the normal hot which Kichaa was used to, it was the humid kind. The kind that makes even the lightest coat sweat so profusely that it almost looks as if they went and dunked themselves into the watering hole. The sad part is most of the pride probably wanted to dunk themselves into the various watering holes at this humidity, Kichaa knew she wanted to, but refrained, other people needed to drink that. She'd have to travel out farther to a river and hope that it wasn't shallow and warm.
Kichaa trotted through the pride at her own pace, which consisted of a very leisurely type of walk, the kind you go on when you're being a real lazy face, which she was feeling like. She scanned around, her eyes half lidded from her heat induced tiredness, spotting a dark haired Pesar off in the distance, with an odd red moon marking upon him. It made Kichaa's head quirk to the side in interest, her mind promptly focused on figuring out who the male was and no longer interested in the fact that she wanted to plunge herself into a pit of water.
She approached slowly so not to startle the male, not that she thought he would be. He was a male after all, they weren't supposed to be startled by the females, but one never knew in this pride. Males shouldn't be hitting little Banu for no reason, but they did, and they were bad for it.

If Atashmah was bothered by the sweltering heat of the afternoon the adolescent certainly gave no sign of it. For all intensive purposes he appeared completely at ease in suffocating climate, though Atash had always been the sort to play his cards close to his chest, rarely concerning anyone with what he thought or how he felt. He'd always been particularly standoffish, even long before arriving at the Ukuucha'Wafalme. Perhaps that was why he lingered out in the sun as he did now instead of taking shelter in the shade of Achal's den. Unlike his sister, Lila, Atash had never quite settled into being surrounded by so many strangers. Nor had he ever entirely come to terms with the loss of his mother and brother whose faces he could barely recall now. It was better to be away from them all, living on the outskirts seemed the simplest way to avoid trouble.
Too bad trouble always seemed to have a way of finding Atash.
Testing his claws on the trunk of a fallen tree he noticed the vibrantly colored little banu long before her attention ever caught wind of him. Eyes like ruby following her out of the corner of his eye as the bark beneath sizable paws splintered and gave way to strength of the young pesar. He had hoped beyond all hope that the unfamiliar female would stride right on by without sparing a second glance, but he had no such luck. Breathing a heavy sigh of dismay at the way her little face tipped with curiosity. s**t.
What was he supposed to do now? Too late to hide. Hesitating in thought Atash felt the muscle bunch along his shoulder blade and flinch with anxiety. He didn't know what she wanted, but he hoped she'd make her point quickly and be on her way. A glance angling at the terrain around him with uncertainty.

Once Kichaa noticed that the distant male had noticed her, she made no attempt to hide the fact she was heading his way, and instead of slowly approaching him as she had been, she walked as if she normally did, with a purpose and bounce in each of her steps.
It didn't take her long to reach the Pesar, a smile spreading across her face at the opportunity to meet and possibly make a new friend. The truth was that even though she had been in the pride since her birth, she had no friends to speak of. Just some males and females in which she met and interacted with briefly. With a chipper little voice she introduced herself to the male, even though it was not the customs of the pride, "Hi! I'm Chacha. What's your name Mr. Pesar?"
Kichaa's personality was as vibrant as her fur, and it was obvious the happiness she gained from simply introducing herself to Atashmah. It was one of her few pleasures in life, living in a pad with so many babies, going from being loved for being the first, even if she was not the offspring of her mother's pad, to being relatively nothing and seeing as her family unit was slowly being taken over and falling apart. On top of that the way her mother's pad's behavior changed, revealing a side Kichaa had never wanted to know existed.

By the time Atash had decided that his best chance of avoiding this entire fiasco would be to make a break for the distant hills, nonexistent though they were on the flat savanna land, his window of opportunity had long since been shut. The small, scarlet banu already upon him and at a distance that made conversation at a civil tone quite practical. Well now, when had that happened? Despite the friendly smile that warmed her muzzle the red moon colored male couldn't mirror the expression, not even out of courtesy. Not with the apprehension that dug its claws into his chest, uncomfortably constricting his ribcage. Leaping over the abused log to at least put its dense weight between them, like some sort of blockade that might have protected her from the one she approached so recklessly.
Weighing the pros and cons of answering the unfamiliar banu's cheery greeting for a long moment. The pace of their introductions was terribly awkward as Atash finally spoke after several minutes of staring at Kichaa. As if his stone stillness might possibly deter her from continuing to pursue this poor choice of actions. Atashmah Sayeh.

"I've never seen you around here before, Pesar Atashmah Sayeh. Do you hide from everyone? Chacha hides from everyone, because not everyone is nice," She said, looking over Atash pleasantly, starring at his red moon marking for a little bit, "Chacha likes your red."
This Pesar was funny to her. He took so long to answer her, she wasn't sure whether or not he could speak. He also seemed freaked out about the fact that she had even approached him and spoken to him. She figured it was because, from what she knew, girls weren't supposed to approach boys and talk to them, they were supposed to approach her and speak to her first, but she didn't care for that. After all, there was nothing wrong with going up to someone just to talk, or at least in her mind there wasn't.

I'm not... from around here. The pesar stated quietly, and he meant it in the most literally way possible. Of course it was unlikely that she'd see him around this area, it wasn't as if he typically spent time here. Frown growing all the more grave as the youth continued to babble on, ears flicking as his head canted towards the end of the banu's statement. Hiding from everyone? I don't.. exactly.. hide. Persay.
Quiet voice was filled with periods of hesitation as if the blood moon child were groping for the right words. He wasn't particularly experienced when it came to holding conversations and it showed in his awkward fidgeting. Sliding off the log as he backed away another step, tail lashing against his haunches. Flicking ears pinning against ruffled shock of deep, red mane the color of bloodshed at the sudden and rather unexpected compliment, flinching from her obviously inspecting gaze. She liked his red? What... what did that even mean? Atash wasn't really sure though he felt the need to say something in response. It is what it is.. I.. I guess.
Not exactly a thank you, if that's what Chacha was hoping for, but how was he expected to act when she spoke with such ease of the source of his inner turmoil? A longing gaze drifting over his shoulder in hopes of escape, though something possessed him to inquire about the peculiar comment the friendly female had made. You.. hide? Why would you have need to hide?

"So Chacha doesn't get in trouble," She said with a giggle as she moved closer to Atash until she was standing next to him, inspecting his red moon some more. She liked it very much, mostly because she was one of the only lions in the pride who was such a bright red, any others she managed to meet she felt inclined to want to make friends out of them.
"My red seems brighter," Kichaa said, offering Atash a smile. She was pleasant today, which was different from her usual attitude, which was nervous and aggravated. It was a nice change for her, because she was actually enjoying herself today, something she never got to do.
"Pesar Atashmah Sayeh, do you like to play games?" Kichaa asked, looking at him hopefully. She was unable to catch the subtle hints of his discomfort. She was far too used to most of the Pesar being so self assured because they were males, so she merely figured that Atash was a more reserved and respectful Pesar.

Ahh, right. Chacha was a female--and as such a lesser member of the pride expected to act in accordance to her position. Wondering how such a thing could have possibly slipped his mind with such ease, the frown upon his maw pulled a bit tighter at the thought. Such a strange place his father had brought him too, he certainly didn't agree with their ideals nor did the image of a misbehaving female, particularly one so young, receiving her just desserts sit well in the pit of his stomach. It left a bad taste in his mouth that the brilliantly colored girl could speak so blithely about such things. Smiling and giggling the way she did.
Atashmah wasn't certain when Chacha had surmounted the distance between them, only all too suddenly realizing that the log that had separated them a comfortable distance had been traversed leaving her so close that he could practically feel her fur against his own. Aaah.. it.. it is!
Dry voice breathed in surprise, sinew writhing with panic beneath his coat as the fumbling figure stumbled over his own paws to side step away. Easing--if only slightly--once the little banu was out of arm's reach. It was strange to find company with those who actually showed interest in him, far too comfortably acquainted with the lonesome distance he held from his family given that none had ever bothered to question it. Let alone encroach. It was almost amusing how he seemed to repeatedly regurgitate her questions back at her in far simpler terms as though somewhat slow himself. Play? I.. eh.. I've never been asked.

"You've never been asked to play?" Kichaa repeated, almost stunned at the thought that anyone who had ever been a cub before had never been asked by someone to play. Even she got to play, regardless of whether the participants had been willing in the beginning of it or not. What was so odd about this timid Pesar that made no one wish to play with him?
"Do you know how to play?... Or games to play?" Kichaa asked, hoping that he would at least know one of two games to make their excursion interesting together.
Kichaa was probably creating a reputation with herself by now. The bright red Banu who played with all the males, and hid from her mother or Pad and never returned till dark. Not exactly the best reputation their was, but Kichaa didn't mind it one wink. She was happy with what she did, and no one could ever take that from her.

No... most stay clear. Atashmah didn't go into any more detail than that. Beyond being the sort who more confidently spoke volumes with his actions the blood moon pesar was reluctant to recall the still tender memories of his past and of first arriving in the pride. Even now, granted he was older and better versed in the ways of the Ukuucha the young lion still seemed socially inept. An incredulous look pinning the young female who was entirely too cheerful for her own good and reminded him greatly of his biological sister, Lililamuna.
Watching her expression Atash wondered if he should answer the last of her questions. It seemed, to him at least, to have been already explained in his first, brief statement. Deciding after a long moment of though and a casual flick of his tail, to indulge himself. It had been a while since he'd had the chance to hold a conversation with someone other that the strangers that rattled around his skull. Walking along the beaten path between the rows of trees as he did. Can't say that I do...
It became blatantly obvious as the male walked away--without inviting or beckoning Kichaa to follow--that Sayeh would have accepted whatever decision the scarlet youth chose. Whether to follow him or not, it was up to her though he neither discouraged nor encouraged either action.
