It had been a good day for the most part. She had visited Mr. Darrow and Tara and Eva in the hospital. Her very last stop had been with Topher's mommy. Yvette was exceptionally happy that Eva was awake, just because of how miserable her friend had been.
...I don't ever want to see Topher looking so sad again...
If it wasn't for the fact Eva was in a bed, everything would have seemed normal about the get together. Topher was his usual smiling self, Eva was laughing and making promises of baking sweets as a thank you for all of the flowers Yvette had brought.
"B-but... y-you don't have to do that!" the girl whimpered guiltily. Eva only continued to laugh at her kindly. After their visiting was over, Eva had made a strange request.
"You want me to take my flowers home?" The girl looked almost heartbroken that her offering wasn't accepted.
"No, it isn't that!" the blue-haired woman reassured her. "It's just that I still have your other bunch of flowers here to enjoy." Even if Eva's words were false, her smile was so kind that Yvette, for once, didn't feel any doubts.
Now as she was walking to the bus, she clutched onto the bundle of wildflowers she had. The dark-haired girl had to hold onto the foil carefully so that she didn't spill any of the remaining water. Maybe she was paying too much attention to her flowers. Rather suddenly, the girl jolted as she literally walked into someone in front of her. She let out a squeak about as loud as the squeak of a mouse, and immediately began spouting out in her usual quiet voice "Iamsosorry,Iwasn'tlookingwhereIwasgoing!"
It looked like she was apologizing to her shoes, since her eyes hadn't even lifted up to see the dark-haired boy she had bumped into. All she could see of him was his shoes. They were pretty nice actually...

If there was one thing Akio could appreciate about America, it was the public transportation system. No longer was he squished between dozens of people in the subway tram, no longer was he subjected to forcing his way through massive crowds on the sidewalk. No, here in America, you could actually see some of the sidewalk! It was concrete! And gray! And the buses - oh the buses were fascinating! You could actually stand in them and not be touching five other people - sometimes there were even seats. Akio couldn't remember the last time he'd gotten to sit down in a bus before.
Although the day was pretty enough for walking, the call of the bus stop was far too tempting. He'd just finished window shopping up and down the street and now - now it was time to find a meal worthy of Akio Yoshida's stomach.
At least, that's what the plan was.
He jerked forward at the unexpected shove, but thankfully was quick enough to step forward and catch his own fall (who knows what might have been scraped otherwise!). Spinning around, he was ready to burst into a stream of curses at the bumbling fool who dared to touch him - and stopped, mouth agape, when he realized who had run in to him.
It was a girl.
His suave smile paused, however, when he noticed the flowers in her hand. Slowly his face twisted into a horrified expression as though a revelation had dawned on him and he jerked around as if he were being attacked from behind, or a small terrier attempting to chase its tail.
"The..t-the flower! The yellow! Is it on me? Is it on me?"

Yvette wasn't one who did well with panic. Especially panic she had caused in the first place. The shoes were no longer in her line of sight, because rather suddenly they began to move as the boy (clearly a boy based off the voice) began to seemingly scramble to figure out if any pollen (she assumed pollen) had gotten on him. She looked up very slowly, guilt piling up onto her own expression rather quickly. Especially after she saw his face. She couldn't help but blurt out another "I'mreallysorry,Id-didn'tmeanto!!"
However, the way the boy was carrying on, she really couldn't tell if she had done any damage at all. Clutching onto her flowers carefully, she almost seemed to bury her face into the petals as she took a step back. She could have pointed out "I can't check if the yellow is on you if you keep moving around like that," but that would require a spine. A spine that she clearly didn't have.
So instead, she watched. Well, watched and occasionally looked at her feet. It felt weird to stare at the boy.

Thankfully for both of their sakes, as soon as Akio realized that the girl in front of him had no intentions of assisting him, he stopped mid-spin and twisted his head around as best he could, one hand moving back to bat at any possible offending pollen that was clearly attempting to attack his shirt.
Had it not been for her apology (and a meek one at that, the poor darling), Akio would have been livid. Nobody defaced his clothing. Well, not unless it was a pack of rabid fans attempting to rip off his clothes but this lone woman seemed neither rabid or aware of who exactly Akio Yoshida really was. It was pitiful how...uneducated these Americans were to j-pop but alas, it was a struggle he dealt with on a daily basis and was slowly growing accustomed to.
Then again, she did have flowers. Could this mean she... she actually knew who he was?
Straightening up his shirt (designer, thank you), he plastered on a smile as he attempted to regain his composure.
"It is okay. I should be used to the attention by now, yes?"
One hand outstretched itself expectantly to receive the flowers the girl continued to clutch on to. "I don't normally give out autographs, but if you have a pen, I will sign for you."

Her tiny voice managed to squeak out a staggering "W-what?" How quickly had he gone from panicked to calm? She could never do such a thing, never ever ever! It usually took her at least a good five minutes to eliminate the traces of her embarrassment or panic. How someone could manage their emotions so easily was a mystery to the short girl!
When he extended his hand towards her, purple eyes blinked at him, wide with confusion. "A-autograph?" At this rate, the boy was going to think she had a stutter to her voice. She looked at his hand, then towards her flowers.
...but these are my flowers...
She wanted to say that, but the words just weren't coming out. Instead, a warm rosy color was decorating her cheeks. Many more words were now flooding her thoughts. Who was this boy? Should she know who he was? Was he famous? Now she really wished that she watched TV. That would mean her family would need some extra money to pay for such an expense...
A small frown managed to find its way to her lips when she thought about her family financial situation. Not wanting to linger on such a tender subject mentally, she literally shook her head from side to side, as if trying to reset a Magic-8 ball. He probably already thought she was weird or stupid, but she couldn't help mentioning "I-i don't have a pen..."
Her eyes once more drifted away from her flowers, but this time they caught the faint glint of something interesting.
"...w-what sort of gemstone is your earring made from?" A random question, yes, but knowing that Yvette's Mommy was a jeweler usually gave some insight to her interest in such things.

His head tilted as he watched hers shake, clearly refusing to hand over the flowers she was holding. Ergo, she didn't know who he was.
Pity.
"My apologies," he replied with a curt bow, his eyes never leaving her rosy cheeks. "I didn't realize you had a boyfriend - he must be a very lucky man."
A hand wave and a shrug sent the autograph issue out of his mind. "I would not want to make him jealous anyhow, him knowing his girl has spoken with Akio Yoshida."
He waited for a moment more, to see if the name rang any bells. But, as sadly as expected, no bells rang by judging her face, warranting another shrug from the slightly taller boy. As the subject turned to his earring, one hand moved up to caress the crystal. "It is onyx. My companions have the same - a partnership, more or less."
Vague, but to the point. "I am afraid they are not sold in stores, if that is what you mean by your question. I could assist you in searching for something similar, if you would like?"

"B-b-b-boyfriend?!!!" The girl nearly fell over at such an accusation. Her head began to shake around from side to side, almost as if she was trying to mimic a bobble head doll. No no no no no, this Akio Yoshida definitely got everything mistaken.
In her little voice, she then rambled out how mistaken he was. "Ohnononononotheseflowerswereformyfriend'smotherbutshetoldmetotakethesehomewithme..." A pause. "...sinceherpreviousbatchofflowerswerestillprettyfresh..."
Loose translation. The indigo-haired girl did not have a boyfriend. Judging by her reaction, she probably had never been on a date, which was 100% truth. After having given such an explanation, her lip seemed to button up, silencing the girl once again. She just looked at Akio for a moment, big wide eyes that seemed curious. The name sounded foreign, and now her curiosity had been poked in the tender belly. However, she needed to turn off that faint background noise of her heart beating in her head.
Her ears did manage to make out the sound of his voice, answering her question ever so politely. She nodded her head, a tad more gentle than her previous head-shaking of panic. "I... I d-don't want one... I w-was just curious. M-my Mommy is a jeweler... s-so I w-was just curious..."
It was about this time she realized how ridiculously rude she had been. "ohgodIdidn'teventellyoumyname!" She was tempted to hide her face in her flowers, but that wouldn't remedy the problem at all. He probably thought she was stupid. A stupid American, since he was probably foreign.
"M-my name's Yvette..."

He stared at her as if she'd sprouted antlers, his poor Japanese brain attempting to pick apart at her words and make sense of what he was hoping was a form of English. It surely wasn't anything he'd heard of before! Key words, however, were quickly deciphered.
"So no boyfriend then. Got it."
His hand removed itself from his earring, the topic quickly changed. It wasn't one he tended to linger on, despite the fact Akio could write books upon books of any and every article of clothing that ever touched his body. After all - they'd been on his body.
Still smiling, he glanced down and stared at his shirt and slacks, both hands moving up to pat at the chest, then the stomach, then the hips before his focus returned to the shorter girl's face.
"I do not think I am bad looking - is there something that is making you nervous, Yee-vette? You sound upset. I have upset you?"

The poor girl's face turned absolutely red. One way to make a shy girl even shyer was to point out the fact they were nervous. It wasn't that hard to tell with this girl. "I... I uh... Ididn'tmeanto.... I don't th-think you are bad l-looking..." Wait, did she just say that?! Yvette couldn't help but wobble a bit in place. She was turning what could have been a relatively simple conversation and making it all the more complicated.
Her voice muffled down quite a bit, and eventually her eyes were staring at her own shoes. She really was just a stupid American. "Y-you... you didn't make me upset..." How did one explain that she was just normally this jumpy?

His laughter was soft, Akio attempting to be mindful and not embarrass the poor girl even further than she seemed to already be. She was adorable, but the young man couldn't help but feel just a bit guilty for egging her on.
"You are very pretty when you blush - I assume you practice this often?"
Before he could dig himself even further into a figurative hole, the bus arrived, wheels squealing to a stop as the doors creaked open. Several passengers made their way off of the bus and Akio moved to where his back was to the giant vehicle.
One hand gestured towards the door, then to his new friend. "After you."

Yvette wished she was a turtle at the moment. A turtle could tuck their head away in a shell and hide it when they wanted. Yvette, unfortunately, was not gifted with such a talent. Apparently making her face pinky-red was her talent.
If she had been more dignified in any sense, she might have been able to spin her own clever comment out of his words. Instead, all she could say dumbly was "I... I don't p-practice! R-really!" She honestly did practice plenty, but it wasn't like she did it all on purpose.
The bus was a familiar sight for the girl, and as people exited the vehicle, she allow her eyes to drift to their feet, watching various pairs of shoes walk past. There were also sorts of sneakers and fancy dress shoes. Sometimes she wished she had more shoes, but 10 pairs were plenty good. Once people stopped spilling out of the driving billboard, the girl glanced up.
"Oh... um... uh... thank you...um... Akio Yoshida..." Like a cat, she stepped up lightly, hopping up each step into the community vehicle. It was a rare sight, but there was actually an empty seat. There were actually several empty seats. Without a word, she meekly took a seat in the first one.
