I'm 14, and I'm around 5'3-5'4. My ribs stick out. A lot. They are VERY VERY wide and I'm VERY self-conscious about them. I don't just mean stick out from my stomach like skinny people's do, I mean they are wide around the middle, and stick out more as they go down. I really hate it and I was wondering if anyone would know when they would go away. sad Everyone says "Oh, you will get taller and they will get smaller" but the taller I get, the worse it gets! I can't wear tight shirts because of it, because if I do, I look anorexic, because my ribs are HUGE but my stomach is little. But yeah... does anyone know when it will go away/how I could make it go away? neutral I push in on them daily but that doesn't work and it also hurts.
This might be a dumb question.. so, sorry if it is. gonk I thought that growth related might equal puberty.

I'm sorry, there really isn't much I can say. Everyone's body is different. You're just special. If you are really self-conscious about it, try wearing clothes that don't show it off much.
Maybe it will go away with time, maybe it won't. It really depends on your genetics and life experiences (neither of which I have much access to, so it makes giving you a prediction very difficult).

You could try putting on a bit of weight, and see if it will help cover up your ribs, or as Kukushka suggested, you could be careful of what you wear.
Maybe talking to a doctor would help, one that knows your family?
Lastly, you're still young. Just because they stick out now, doesn't mean they will a few years down the line. You still have some years of puberty left to go, so you never know. Maybe things will change.

Hmmm... well, you could always get some sort of corset type thing, and wear that a lot. If you do some research and maybe talk to a doctor or something, and, you know, use common sense... you could probably get the results you want. :3 (Disclaimer: I don't want to sound like I'm giving unsafe advice, but it's your body and your choice, and there are indeed safe ways to go about these things. X3;;; And besides, positive body image = good mental health.)
And yeah, Kukushka's right, everybody's different. I guarantee that there are a lot of people out there that would find the effect intriguing and attractive. ^-^ But of course, not everyone will... and that's always the problem, isn't it? x__o;;;

I've never heard of this problem before so I might not be much help but you could try building muscles around your tummy to help hide it a little. Sit ups and running should help. Eating a little more healthy thing (such as protein and healthy carbs) along with the exericse should help you put weight on. If you want to do what without getting fat you should speak to a personal trainer or gym instructor.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to wait until I get a little older before I decide what to do though... they might grow in... my mom said they would but I dunno. sweatdrop Once my breasts grow too it might go away, at least that's what I'm thinking.

I know it sounds ridiculous that you will "grow into" or "grow out of" something when you are past a certain age, but sometimes it's really true. I remember my grandma telling me that I just had "baby fat" until well into my teens. I always laughed at her. I mean, whoever heard of a teenager with baby fat? Then I woke up one day about twice as tall and still the same weight (looking MUCH thinner).
It just happens like that sometimes.
But yes, wait until you are at least 20 before you consider things "to do."
Good luck!
