The Pride

The pride is based on what a real life lion pride would be with a bit of a twist. The pride is largely run by the females, there will always be more females in the pride then males at any given time.

The females are the bulk of the pride, there are two females who are generally in charge, three or four other lionesses that surround those two and act as a council or sorts. There are then all the other females that have either joined the pride or were born into it. When it comes to males there aren't very many.

When a male is born he is allowed to stay in the pride until he reaches adolescence. Once he reaches adolescence he has the choice of leaving the pride or fighting to stay. If he wishes to stay he has to fight one of the current males in the pride, if he win's he can stay and breed with the females, if he looses he has to leave. The males can come back and try as many times as they like but they cannot breed with a female in the pride until they have won their place. This will possibly be decided by a dice roll or something.
Older male lions are better off leaving then fighting as it is known for males to die fighting to breed with the females. Also if a lion is found to be infertile he would be driven out.

The females can refuse to breed with a male who has fought for his place. If this happens then that male can be thrown from the pride and will loose his place.

Like a normal pride the females are the ones that hunt and look after the cubs. The males are there purely to breed with, for them it's a good life. Other then fighting to stay in the pride the male gets his food brought to him and he gets to laze about a lot. Of course he is expected to check on his cubs while in the pride and to help out with the hunting.

If a male doesn't pull his weight though he will be thrown out, the males may have an easy life but some things are still expected of them!

The females don't hate the males and won't treat them badly, the group started as a group of female friends that wandered together who decided to settle. They don't want their female group upset and so they keep males to a minimum because they know that the males could overpower them. The pride is a gentle pride and most of the drama is only between the males trying to better themselves against one of the other males.

Breeding

Breeding can happen at any time. If a male has won his place in the pride he can breed with as many females as he wants unless she turns him down (this is rare).

Rogue Breeding
This is allowed but it is looked down on. If a female is found to have bred with a rogue lion who hasn't proved himself she is to birth her cubs outside the pride. Once they are born she can bring them back but she won't have the support of her pride during the birth and first few days. Once she and cubs can travel they are allowed to return to the pride completely forgiven and fully part of the pride.

Mating
No one in the pride has just one mate. It is like a communal Harem, everyone shares with everyone. Any female who wants to mate(as in have cubs with) with a male can but not every male can mate with a female.

Males
As previously stated males have to fight to keep a place in the pride. The ratio of males to females will never be more then 1:2. The females, if they find a male they like can just let him in as long as there aren't too many males in the pride. Yes this can lead to drama within the males.

The males in the pride probably won't get on with each other all too well. After all they are constantly at competition with each other.

Battling
Battles are the males way into the pride and the only way they have a chance to breed with the females. Of course some males maybe sneaky and breed anyway, these males will be dealt with differently, as would the female.

The battles will work by rolling a 10-sided dice. There will be a thread in the sub-forum just for the rolling so that they don't have to be in the RP threads. It works simply, the highest number wins the fight. If you both roll the same number you roll again until one of you wins.

Males are more then welcome to come back and try again and again.

The Lands

The pridal lands are shadowed by a rather large mountain. The pride share a den in a large cave that Sebae found. There is a little climbing to do to get to it but thats what helps make it safe. All youngsters must be watched at all time by the cave mouth, we don't want any injuries!

Just down from the cave a little further along the mountain is another cave, just big enough for the cubs and smaller juves to get into. This is where the prey is stored to keep it out the rain and sun! It allows a stock of food to be kept at all times so that hopefully the pride won't go hungry.

Due to being so close to the mountains there are streams that flow down the mountains and through the pride's territory. They eventually widen up to be a deep river. The streams are shallow enough but fish are seen swimming in them. The cubs unless they try to won't be drowned in them. They are too shallow and so are safe to play by.

The female group weren't sure how to do it but together they found some male rouges who liked the idea of being able to be with all the females if he wanted. It was only after time that the males started having to fight for their place in the pride, the females not wanting to risk the males taking charge decided to send them away at adolescence. Those who stayed had to fight for their chance to breed.

Rogues came in often enough and also took their chance, after all who wouldn't want to breed with a group of lionesses? After a while the pride took it's shape, more female's joined the pride and they allowed more males to stay. There was never more males then females at one given time though.

They believe and worship in Lucretia, thanking her for the pride they are now apart of and the system they have going to look after their daughters. They also believe in Talayeh and thank her for the fertility of their pride.

Brief Description of the current status of your Pride/Pack: The pride is settling into their new home and routine. The youngsters are growing up learning to hunt well. The pride are still welcoming new lions to the pride and so aren’t being as strict as they will be about the pride’s borders. For now anyone is welcome though this may change after time.

If your female/male has no backstory then by all means they can join as an original pride member! So they were one of the group that started the pride originally. Of course your lion can still join as a rogue.

Just throwing in my two cents, not trying to be confrontational or rude, but it seems like this is a pretty exhausted idea. There's already a pride very similar to this (K'N, and in an extreme case, the Amazons) as far as the female power goes. U'W was the 'natural' twist on what K'N already had running. It may seem like shoulder-bumping to some of the other pride owners. It may just be me but it seems it would make sense for Lucretia to be the patron goddess of the existing harem prides (U'W as the top and K'N as it's opposite.)

And as a side note, you may want to wait for her powers to be officially established before deciding to run with the idea.

Lucretia hates the U'W it's complete opposite of what she believes. Also I don't believe her powers have anything to do with the pride... I don't think I mentioned it. So it shouldn't matter if they are approved or not? Once they are approved then she can play a bigger role in it but that's why other then giving the group the idea, she doesn't play much of a part in it all.

The males in this pride aren't looked down or treated badly, so I wouldn't have said it was like the other prides. It is more based off a normal lion pride, just instead of having the ruler being male and being challenged and changing constantly, the females rule instead so the males still are challenged and changed but the pride's stability stays in place as the ruler won't change that often.

If the other prides have issues I am more then open to talk to them but as it's more based on a real pride with a little twist, I didn't see it being like them at all.

I still want to get details of this pride sorted though, regardless of that. I have PMed Felyn as the K'N is the only one even slightly like this and shall see what she says.

Mentioned it before, but I'd like to say again that Talayeh would be all for this/supportive. She likes her mens. XD
