My choir did Les Miserables last year. From the perspective of a drama kid, it was very... intersting. No one really wanted to do it until it came to be opening night when they realized Hey! This is Fun! and were glad that we had worked so hard on it. It was intresting doing a show whos cast was mainly people who had never acted before. Also we do District every year, its the first level in the All State Auditions. My District Audition was in September, I made 11th chair.(they accept the top 60) Then I advanced to Region and I made 11th chair again...(they accept the top 20) So I advanced to Pre-Area, stunk up the place, made 14th chair (they accept the top 5) and therefore didn't advance any farther.

Musicals were seperate from choir at my highschool. Despite this, I did do a musical once.

Never again. gonk

And it's about time for District Music Festival. I've written a friend from back home to find out how the old choir's doing.... but, of course, they're gonna do fine. They always do. ._.

kool,

i want to try out for a small role in anne of green gables but im not sure xp its a bit too late now, auditions this week and no way i can memorize a monolouge by then, i was thinking of reciting the opening of lotr fotr, where galadriel at teh beginning of the movie tells the past history of the rings given out and how the ring of the war started out, then sing the easiest audition song, star spangle banner whee

This is the first year I haven't done a musical since I started High School. my freshman year we did 110 in the Shade (complete disaster!), the year after we did Les Miserables (which made up for the year before) and last year we did Carousel. This year they did Jekyll and Hyde and Jane Eyre (which I have now fallen in love with, and really wish that I had done it. ah well, little late now). Although I love musicals, when it comes to performing, I'm really more of a straight play person. Solos make me incredibly nervous and I get all squeaky and my tone goes out the window, so I just do regular plays where I can amaze people with my ability to project my voice. Though, I would have to make an exception if any place around here was doing Into The Woods heart

Anyway, my choir has district contest on Saturday, we will make state this year! The last two years we've just barely not made it, and it makes me mad because those were the first times in 17 years that this choir hadn't gone to state contest. y'know, sometimes, I hate my peers. I just wish that some of them would care, because if they did, we could be so awesome. eh, anyway, sorry for the ramble, I just finished a big paper and I can't sleep.

Into the Woods! Hell Yes! *cough* Anyways... I hate people who dont care. They REALLY piss me off. So much could be achieved if only we could find a good group of people who genuinly CARED. Le sigh.

At my school, we have REALLY good Musicals and Drama performances. It makes me so mad that we never win any awards for our performances, because we have to go up against schools like the Arts school in the neighboring city. (were a class AA school, that means we are big). But our shows are always really good. We have alot of talented people, and the sets we have are complex, and everyone works so hard.

Its like a family, seriously, we all are great friends, we give rides home, all of our parents know eachother and stuff. Most of my good friends are in the musicals with me. I love it.

I love our drama program, its so awesome!
