So I'm going to assume everyone is aware of the massive toxic spill that BP made in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this year.
There hasn't been any news or media coverage of this in a very very long time. Post your thoughts, comments, links to articles and videos here. Lets get some conversation going on it since the media is too afraid to.

This topic really angers me (duh, Im sure it angers ALOT of people) that not only did this all happen because they circumvented government safety laws to save some money, but not installing the proper safety cut offs, but because they have no only completely F'd up the environment for YEARS to come, if it can ever truly be fixed, and they are worse, trying to cover it up it, instead of getting help from where ever its being offered to fix it. This screw up has in my books hit monumental...and there is absolutely no slap on the wrist that is going to be handed out that will change all the damage not only done to the animals, the land, the health of even the people around the area (I'm not usually an advocate for people...but in this case I am saying it) its just mind boggling.... please anyone else? whats all your opinions on this? I think BP as a company needs to be charged the complete cost of the clean up effort + they should be shut down as a company for illegally going around the safety guidelines as an example for any company that would in the future even think to try this! *growls and foams at the mouth*

It's just a big wad of irresponsibility on BP's part. And it makes me want to never drive a British Petroleum fueled car ever.

honestly I think if I never had to drive any kind of fueled car again id be happier... electric needs to be upgraded for better performance... in the long run, I think that would be a nice big start XD (and screw the oil companies I wish they would all go out of business and drown in their own product)

I feel like electric powered vehicles and other alternative non-petrol-burning modes of transport should be more affordable and available to everyone. Sadly they are so expensive that I don't know if Ill ever be able to afford a completely electric vehicle, but if not then I will avoid driving a fossil fuel burning vehicle and opt to catch the bus instead, which still burn fossil fuels, I know. x_x

yes, propane is a fossil fuel. most of the buses here burn natural gas, which is also a fossil fuel. also the industrial machines that burn fossil fuels statistically consume far less of the worlds petrol than automobiles. while it is true that on a per unit basis they require more of the fuel, there are far less of them than there are vehicles in the world. so many people are dependent on cars and they are CONSTANTLY in use so automobiles, statistically really are the biggest slice on the pie chart if ya know what I mean, but yeah I agree I really wish electric cars were more affordable. :/

Here's a little bit of coverage from one of my personally more well liked media sources, The Young Turks, discussing the government-corporate coverup attempts relating to the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Recent estimates by scientists say that 75% of the pollutants still remain in the Gulf as well as on its shores in some form.

On beaches in the eastern US, thousands of dead fish are washing up ashore in several states. Scientists currently attribute the mass death of these fish to "low levels of oxygen in the water due to climate change", which I feel is certainly a very good possibility (as 2010 has been the worlds hottest summer and a very good example for those who do not believe in global warming/ climate change), but more likely could be a coverup attempt on the US government and corporate America's part to protect the multinational company, British Petroleum. There is no hard evidence as of yet, which links the massive death of sea life all over the eastern seaboard directly to BP's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

two very awesome links! TYT is a great program, and wow, what really gets me is how calm people seem to be in that video about explaining why these fish have all died... it has been a crappy summer though XD

You are legally not authorized to view these images, but here they are for anyone who wants to see the mass devastation that BP has caused and why they have worked with the US government and gone to such great lengths to hide images like these: http://blog.alexanderhiggins.com/2010/07/11/bp-gulf-oil-spill-photos-show-bp-real-reason-constitution-suspended-2180/
