I don't play it, but I figure this would be a good place to ask...
Does your school march bass clarinet? I think ours is going to... But we don't know for sure yet.

Eb Contra alto: first band Bb Bass: Second band
At your service.
We dont march bass clarinets at our school, / the bass clarinets we have are all concert basses, so they would probably crack and break../

You read my mind. smile I really wanted to play bass this year, but the rental charge is freakin' insane. I love the bass clarinet, but I guess this year I'll just play clarinet. Next year, though- Oh yesh!!! Bass for me!!!! biggrin heart heart

:X I dunno what I'll do. I use a school bass clarinet, and it won't be available to me next year, and I've already memorized all my bass clarinet marching music. I don't want to go back to clarinet!!!!

My school doesn't march bass clarinet, but I play it in my schools symphonic band. Some of the music i have to do is actually really hard. The hardest thing is having to switch between bass clarinet and clarinet. I'm switching from bass clarinet then to clarinet.

I play the Bass Clarinet, and couldn't be more proud of it. I named him Frank. But he is a school instrument that cost $7,000, so I am scared to death that some thing would happen to him. Frank is only like two feet shorter then me. I am like the shortest in the entire band and I play the largest Clarinet. Next year, I am play THE largest clarinet. The Contra-Bass, which is like four feet tall (I am only five). I am like that last one you would see playing the bass or contra-bass. But I rock that Bass Clarinet.
I love Ya FRANK!

well....i played it....a long time ago...(like how about 6 years ago....for a year...) but since there was a thread for it, i thought i'd show my appreciation for the second-most-sexy instrument biggrin it's only second because there is such a CONTRABASS clarinet biggrin (btw we don't march any clarinet except for Bb, but theres a school nearby that used to march not only bass, but a contrabass! i think it had wheels or something haha) (oh and our school doesn't have a contrabass so basses are the next best thing lol except when we do combined band and my friend gets to play the contra-alto haha)

A stool and some text books can work wonders.
