Hi! I'm Ellineath, the guild mule! (Actually, this is lilchibiusa working this account, but oh well.) I'm here to help all of you who have been struggling with the official Gaia summer event, Frontier Skies. I have played about 20 times, and I have won with Carl twice so far. So, listen up! This might just save your life on the game.
wink The Beginning-Choose the Krestyl (the fastest ship)
-Before leaving, make sure that you have AT LEAST 100 ammo. Get more if possible.
-Make sure you have at least 25 food. You don't need much more than this in the beginning.
-Hunt as soon as you are able. 10 well placed bullets can get you 250 lbs of food, so you don't need much food in the beginning if you have a small amount of loot to work with in the beginning.
-Make sure you have at least 200 or 300 loot. You can trade this for food, ammo, and luck. It also gets stolen sometimes, so it's good to have a little backup, thus the 200 or 300.
Managing Your Crew-In the very beginning, turn your pace on high, and your portions on meager. This will reduce your crew's health quickly. Let three of your crew members (it doesn't matter which, even if it is the one with your username). Leave two crew members alive. If it looks like all of your crew members are going to die at once, change the rations to filling close to the end. The deaths will be slightly further apart. If you are still worried about the deaths being too close together, have the healths on fair, and wait for some random event to lower the stats of a crew member or two.
-Make sure that you only have two crew members by the time you reach the desert. If you only have one, you run the risk of some random event killing you off even though you say that you don't want that character to be killed. Chances of random, unwanted deaths are higher with Carl. Normally, random deaths are good to get rid of crew members, but not if you only have one or two people.
-Once you only have two crew members, have the speed on average, and the rations on filling. This will keep your crew members healthier longer, and use less food in the long run.
-Make sure you heal and hunt before entering the desert. It's harder to get food in the desert, but you should still take the desert even if you only have 50 lbs of food when you are given the choice. The shorter paths take less time, meaning that less food has to be consumed, meaning less ammo is used, meaning your chances for survival go way up.
-The same thing goes for taking the volcano root. There is food in the volcano, so don't worry.
-Make sure that your two surviving crew members keep their health levels on "healthy" the entire time. Rest if needed. You never know when something bad might happen.
Hunting-The forest and the ocean are the best places for hunting, so stock up on food while you are there.
-When you are in the ocean, try to get as many crabs as possible. They each give you 50 lbs of food, and they are slow, and they only take two bullets to kill. You end up getting more food for your bullets.
-When you are in the forest, go for the buffalo if you can. They are slow, and they give you 100 lbs of food each. However, they take 5 bullets to kill.
-Elk/deer are good sources of food, but DO NOT KILL THEM IF YOU HAVE CARL AS YOUR GUIDE!!! He will kill you and your crew as soon as you return from your hunting trip.
-The vegetables only give you 20 lbs of food each; however, they are slow and only require two bullets to kill. If there is bigger game, forget the veggies. But, if you are very low on food and or ammo, they are great, reliable targets.
-Rock puppies, tumble weeds, and clouds are just there to waste your bullets. You cannot eat them. However, robots (which take 5 bullets to be killed btw) give you pizza boxes that are worth 80 food. Sadly, they are faster than buffalo.
-This one is REALLY important. After you kill the animals/vegetables, make sure that you put your targeting thing over the food item that appears to collect it. Otherwise, you will not be able to keep it. It will say "food got" or something like that if you do it right.
Choices-Trade your loot for ammo, food, health, luck, etc. Do NOT trade your food or ammo.
-If a ghost asks you if you want to see how you die, always say yes. Most of the time you will get great bonuses. You will never get any bad results or deaths.
-If there is a quarrel, settle it with rock, paper, scissors.
-Do not pull the rope. (nevermind, I finally got a positive result)
-Do not engage with the vampires near the end. That's just suicide.
-Fight the pirates if given the chance. It's better than losing your stuff.
-Do not cut down the big tree.
-If you explore, do so with trepidation or caution.
-If you have more than two crew members alive, kill one off if you are offered the chance. If not, let them live; however, they might die anyway.
-If you find some chemical called Ce Ce Embryonic, give it to your guide and you will get 50 loot.
-Drink the potion that the wood nymph gives you.
-Party or don't party. There's an equal chance of something good or bad happening. The same thing goes with the pygmies.
-Get rid of the pterodactyl eggs.
-The witch doctor usually doesn't affect anything.
-Take the candy. There's a better chance of you getting food than something bad happening. Plus, you never lose food or ammo from it, so it's all good.
-Leave Carl alone. If he is happy, let him stay that way by himself.
-Urinate on the fire
-Get sucked into the storyteller's world
-Feed the person who littered to the man-eating plant
*I found a great guide for these random choices you have to make, and you can access it by clicking

*You may only win one medal per guide per account. If you win with the same guide again, you only get 1500 gold. (Thanks felinophile!)
