Grey paws padded the forest floor quietly as Artemis made her way off of her tribes land. The dark colored vixen simply couldn't take the drama any longer. There was too much sadness and too much distrust on the Lunarie lands for her tastes. She wasn't abandoning her tribe, she would never even think of doing that, but she was taking a break from them. Arty would return to her homeland after a few weeks, and hopefully, after the drama had died down.
Artemis hadn't been off of the Lunarie lands more than a nights travel before she realized she had already gotten lost. It would be hard for her to find her way back now, even if she wanted to. Already homesick and lonely, Artemis sat down and stared up at the moon, hoping it would guide her or at least send her company for the nights to come.

Riku couldn't deal with it any more. The it being Tokala, his adopted son. He cared for him, but it was to much and he had to get away for some time.
After eating, the russet colored fox took a walk in the forest away from his adopted son. The moon was full this night lighting his way to one of his favorite places. As he walked into the clearing, he spotted a dark colored vixen. She was looking up at the moon and he didn't want to startle her. He coughed to get her attention. "Hello there."

Blue eyes turned from the moon to spot brownish red male standing on the other side of the clearing. Well that was quick. Only a few moments ago she had asked her deity to send her company and now she was staring into the eyes of another fox. Such an interesting coincidence.
But what was he doing way out here? Her parents had often warned her about not-so-nice foxes that lived off the tribe lands. Was he one of them? Artemis examined his posture and the way he spoke. He didn't seem vicious. But then again, it could be a trick. Her sisters words of 'Stop being so paranoid' about other foxes drifted into her ears.
"H-hi." Artemis finally managed weakly.

His ears twitched at the sound of her voice. She seemed a little nervous, so he sat down where he was at. He hadn't noticed more foxes around the area and was surprised.
"Have you been here long? I am sure I would have remembered one as .. pretty as you." He smiled some, Oh if Tokala seen him now. He looked at the gray vixen, and liked her ear tips.

The dark vixen stared, stunned, for a few moments at the russet male across the clearing. Did he just call her pretty? No way. Victoria was the pretty one out of the two of them, not her. Why would he say that? Surely he can't see well at night, she thought. That must be it... Right?
"I haven't been here long.... I seem to have gotten a little lost...." She answered meekly. Artemis inwardly rolled her eyes at herself. Why couldn't she be confident, like her sister? Why was it so hard just to answer a question?

Riku strained his ears to hear what the vixen said. "Where you traveling with others? Are they looking for you?" Concern tinged his voice as he asked. It was safe in the area, he made sure of it when Tokala was a kit and still made sure. He moved closer to her since she didn't seem to mind talking with him. He kept his head low as he got next to her, "By the way I am Riku. If you need help finding your way back, I can do my best." He kept his voice soft and polite.

Although it was evident that the russet male meant her no harm, Arty couldn't help but get a little nervous as he made his way over to her. "No," She replied as he got closer, avoiding his gaze, "I was traveling alone. I'm sure my family will start looking for me soon, but..." The vixen trailed off and pawed at the earth below her, "I'm not sure I want to go back right now."
Once she had finished speaking, Arty finally looked up at Riku. The male seemed rather friendly and non aggressive. Maybe Arty had actually found a friend? She had never met a fox outside of her tribe before but for some reason she felt like she could trust Riku. "I'm Artemis..." She said, looking into Riku's eyes. "But my tribe calls me Arty."

Riku watched the vixens movements. It appeared she was nervous. He sat down to her left but not so close he was in her space. "So why did you travel away from your tribe?" He was trying to be polite, but he was worried about her even if he just met her.
He looked at her face when she looked up. Riku smiled at her, "Artemis. I like the sounds of it." He lifted a paw to her,"It's nice to meet such a pretty one as you."

What was with the male and calling her pretty? Was he just trying to be nice to her? He was a strange fox. Well, maybe not strange, but different than her tribe. Arty felt her cheeks heating regardless of if he really meant she was pretty or if he was just saying it to be nice. She wasn't sure what lifting his paw signified but she mimicd him regardless of its meaning and smiled. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Riku."
Her smile faded some as she thought back to her tribe and the drama that it held. "Well.." She started, looking down at the ground. "One of our Elders was declared dead recently and a lot of drama and sadness seems to have found a home in the tribe." That was about the best discription she could give. It seemed like no one was happy there these days.

He touched her paw with his and smiled. The paw lifted was something new he was trying and it lifted his spirits that Arty copied him. His tail started to wave happily and dropped a little.
"My condolences on your lost." He moved closer to her, unsure of how to show his thoughts better. "You are welcome to stick around here, if it cheers you up some."

Arty blinked in surprise as Riku touched her paw and she felt her blush deepen. Riku had an interesting way of greeting foxes, but she kinda liked that. It was obvious that he was a gentle fox.
At his second statement, Arty's sadness lessened and she smiled timidly at him. "I would like that, if you don't mind. If you do, I'll kindly leave." She added the last bit hastily and her ears fell back a little. She didn't want to be a bother for Riku.
"So...." Artemis started shyly. "Do you live around here?" Her ear's perked up a bit and she tried to relax her muscles. She mentally cursed herself for tensing up and being so shy.

"I have no problems with you sticking around." His ears turned toward Arty and his tail wagged, happy that she would stay around. His nose moved to touch her, but he pulled back when he realized what he was doing.
"Yes, well mostly." He looked around. "Another fox lives here too. I raised him when he busted out of his BCR." Riku could tell she was still nervous like. "This area is open to you, for as long as you want. We patrol it a lot to make sure we don't have too many surprises."

It was nice to be welcomed somewhere other than her tribe. She'd never been away from the tribe without her family so she wasn't sure how other foxes would treat her. So far, Riku was treating her as if she were a member of his own tribe, like the other members of her own tribe treated her.
"So he is your son? Or you raise a kit that was not your own?" Arty hoped the question wasn't to personal. Some people were sensitive when it came to their kits and she didn't want to upset her kind host. But she was very interested. The vixen didn't peg the male as the fathering type. But to raise a kit that isn't your own out in the wild, she noticed he didn't have a tribe marking, was very respectable and admirable in her book.

He watched her a bit. At the question Riku smiled. He is not my son. Just a rascal who wouldn't leave me." Even though the boy was an adult now, the russet fox still thought of him as a kit.
"Since he came around to the world, Tokala has been pretty adamant about staying around me. I'm still waiting for him to move on." With that being said and he was curious about her some more. "Do you have any?"

So he did raise a kit that was not his own. Artemis was very pleased by this fact. She couldn't stand the thought of kits being brought up with not parental figure. Even though Riku made it sound like his son, Tokala if she heard correctly, was a nuisance there was a fondness in the way he said it.
"Some of them just take a lot of time to move on." She replied to his statement thinking of herself and how long it had taken her to remove herself from her mothers side.
Artemis flushed at the question. "No." She replied a light blush making it's way to her cheeks. "Not yet anyway. Maybe some day I will." In truth, Artemis loved kits and did want them. Her sister Tori already had two! But you have to actually meet someone first. She thought to herself.
