So what's the local music scene like where you live?
I'd say the Plymouth scene is pretty good. I have friends in a couple of bands, and more in bands outside of Plymouth.
I'm actually organising a huge, day long gig for about 7 bands at a local venue.
Griff (The owner of this guild)'s band is playing, as well as a couple of others, and I've sent emails to a couple more.

Anyway, good local bands you should check out:
Synapse: www.myspace.com/synapseplymouth : They don't have any samples up yet, but are recording on Wednesday
Scimitar: www.myspace.com/scimitarrock : I've seen these guys live twice now, and they're pretty good. They're hugely influenced by Maiden, which is never a bad thing.
Viscera: www.myspace.com/viscera2005 : Hoshit, this guy can really ******** scream. Never seen them live, but they are playing a gig in February.
Schiztome: www.myspace.com/schiztome : Only just found this band's MySpace, but I've heard a lot about them, and they're pretty good.
Orchid Fixation: www.myspace.com/orchidfixation : Griff's band! Well, they're not exactly local, considering Norwich is 7 hours from Plymouth, but they're still a great band.
If Fire Would Fall: www.myspace.com/iffirewouldfall : Another Norwich-based band, who are coming down with OF for my gig.

the music seen where i am consists of one good band, Acts of Malice. They are a metal band, they sound like Children Of Bodem when they are live. If you wanna listen to them, they have a myspace. other than that, the music in my town sucs, but the rest of my state cranks out some hot hardcore, rock and metal bands. yeah.

/late There are tons, Cat, you're just not in the scene. I was when I was like ... thirteen. Hmm ... guess I grew out of it. smile

I moved but my cousins have a band by the name of Fever in the Forest. They're good but I don't have links or downloads for them.

Rugby, UK based band...
They were very close to playing at the godiva festival which is a huge thing. But they're playing the jailhouse instead, which is still very major, and at the great yarmouth festival (and Hawkwind will be there)

Mostly a bunch of "heavy metal bands" that might be good if they had decent lyrics and/or vocalist. Also several christian/emo bands that sound like nails on chalkboard and everybody's like "They rock." ...They don't. But yeah. There is also a couple good punk/indie/etx. bands around here. Eh. Fatal Alarm, The Hot Rocks, and Lenny.

Here in Buffalo we have a great music scene. Thought Lost is one of the best local bands here. They are death metal band. Check them out and let me know what you think.
