How do you capture a creature?

to capture a creature, weaken it until it retreats to its rest area, while it is sleeping, use a shock/pitfall trap, and apply tranq bombs or tranq bullets to knock it out. when you use about 3-4 tranqs, it will fall asleep and you will have captured it

I don't usually do the whole capture thing so I didn't know what to do sweatdrop

The monster has to be sufficiently weakened. You can tell if a monster is weak enough to be captured; some monsters limp, most will suddenly run away to rest. Here's a quick run-through:
All [name]drome monsters will only run. All carapeceons (except for Shen Garoen) bubble at the mouth. Most mayor wyverns (Kut-Ku and up) will probably limp, but some will occasionally "hide" their limp. Elder Dragons cannot be captured.
Once you've confirmed it's weakness, follow HawkEye's instructions, except it should only take 2 Tranq Bombs (not sure about Tranq Shots though). If that doesn't work, you might have let him rest too long.
