Mardi slowly walked through the snow covered forest of evergreens, her eyes constantly searching for any sign of life. She had been walking and searching for days now. Some time ago, her twin brother, Gras, had decided it would be best if they went their separate ways for awhile. Although she was a little hurt at the time, she knew it was for the best. So she had set out to find a tribe she had heard about. Supposedly there was some tribe that lived here in the snow and the were supposedly pretty chill foxes. Supposedly. So far, all Mardi had been able to find was snow and trees.
"Gah!" The multicolored vixen let out a cry of frustration. "There's nothing out here!" She kicked a clump of snow furiously before letting herself fall into the snow, defeated. She thought about turning around and trying to find her way back, but the snow had already covered her tracks. She was completely and utterly lost.

Shin found himself scouring the edge of the Kousetsu Tribeland for food [who wasn't nowadays], when he heard a distant cry. He could not make out any words, but worried that the fox may be in trouble or injured.
He raced toward the fox, now able to smell her. He couldn't pick up the scent of blood, but injuries didn't always involve that. Shin could see her now. The vixen was lying in the snow, only a few feet away. The yellow, green, and purple of the vixen's fur contrasted greatly with the whie snow surrounding her. "Are you alright?" Shin called out as he neared her.

Mardi's head popped up as she heard a voice nearby. She turned to see a male fox approaching her. Oh glorious day! There actually were foxes out here in the middle of nowhere! The vixen jumped up with a renewed energy and bounced a few feet towards the stranger.
"I'm fine. Actually, I'm great now that I've found you! Or you've found me... Whichever." Unable to control her excitement on finding another fox, Mardi bounced around the three toned male happily.
"I'm Mardi. I'm looking for the Kousetsu Tribe but I've gotten a little lost. What about you? What are you doing out here?" She finally allowed herself to sit and be still while she listened to her new friend talk.

Shin watched, a mixed look of amusement and confusion on his face, as the vixen bounced around him. "I'm glad you aren't hurt, then. It's nice to meet you, Mardi," Shin said once she had calmed down a bit. He still had a bit of a grin on his face.
"You've found the right fox, Miss," Shin added. "My name is Shin, and I am a member of the Kousetsu tribe. I was out looking for food when I heard your yell. We're not too far, but may I ask why you were seeking our tribe?"

Mardi had to resist the urge to pounce Shin when he announced he was a member of the Kousetsu tribe. Not only had she been found, but she had been found by a cute fox who knew where she was going. Things just couldn't get better than this. Wait, no, yes they could. As Shin mentioned food, Mardi remembered how hungry she was. If they managed to obtain some food, then things couldn't get any better.
"Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, Shin." Mardi said with a grin on her face. "I was looking for your tribe because I'm interested in joining. I wanted to hang out for awhile and see if I fit in." Seeing that Shin was such a cutie, Mardi wondered if the tribe she sought was filled with other cuties, or if it was just Shin. Either way, she wanted to join a tad bit more now. She decided not to think about the fact she couldn't even find the tribe and was having difficulty surviving the terrain.

"I must say I'm pleasently surprised to hear that, Mardi," Shin said, "and I would be honored to escort you to the tribe." He was rather shocked to hear that she had been interested in joining, considering the very recent harsh weather conditions. Regardless, he wouldn't discourage the vixen.
"The tribe is only about a mile in that direction," Shin added, nodding in the direction he had come from. "But I don't suppose you would mind hunting with me for a bit. It would be helpful if I returned with some game, as well as a potential member."

After being stranded by herself for so long, it was good to hear that her presence was welcome among Shin. The snow didn't seem nearly as bleak as it had now that she had a friend and someone to guide her. Now that she had company, trekking all the way out here in the snow felt like it was indeed a good idea instead of a bad one.
"I wouldn't mind at all, Cutie." The thought of food made her stomach rumble again, but thankfully not loud enough for anyone but herself to hear. "What's out here to hunt?" She asked as she pranced to Shin's side. "Lead the way, Mighty Shin, and I shall follow." Mardi dramatically gestured in the direction they were facing and smiled. There was a small part of her mind that urged her not to act like her normal half-crazed self (according to most foxes), but she figured that if Shin and the tribe didn't like her for who she was, it wasn't worth staying. So poor Shin would get the full blast of her upbeat and dramatic personality.

Shin had to laugh at Mardi's endearing nicknames. She had an interesting character, in a nice, refreshing way. He did as he was told, and led the way through the forest. They walked parallel to the border of Kousetsu.
"Normally we have some deer, a variety of rodents, and some birds," Shin said. "I'm not too sure where they would be now, though. I can't smell anything nearby at the moment, so I guess we'll just wander a little bit." He shrugged, hoping that plan would still be productive.
