Sandy sat at the edge of the pool her legs in the sun warmed water. The spawn was enjoying the last month of summer and hanging out at the pool was favoured activity. There were always a lot of different people around to talk to and her tentacles actually behaved when she was swimming. The only downside was the somewhat odd looks she got from time to time, a two piece was really the only type of bathing suit Sandy could comfortably ear but anyone who examined her two closely could note something a little off in the fit. Thankfully she was still young enough for that to happen only rarely.

Steve had been, well, chilling at the pool. His brothers had decided to go their own separate ways today and the preteen was more than content to be soaking up the sun and the waves, and maybe letting Boris and Natasha splash around. His recent notice of how girls looked in bikinis, particularly tops, was completely unrelated of course. Why would that have anything to do with wanting to hang out in the water?
Presently, Steve had just noticed the somewhat ample upper portions of a girl before something small flashed in his view and he noticed Natasha waving at something. What was she - hey wait, that'd been a tentacle he'd seen! A yellow one! At that point, he realized who the top he'd been getting a look at for a sec belonged to.
"SANDY?!" the boy asked, swimming over - not too difficult with two extra paddles - and blinking up at his friend. "When did you grow- how did you- I thought only girls had- the hell are those on your chest and why did you not tell me about them?" he finally stammered out after a few moments of gaping at his friend. The hell, you think you know a guy, right?

Sandy laughed and stared down at her friend's bewilderment. Normally the spawn would have been disturbed by such a reaction but well, she knew Steve and realized he wasn't being insulting about it. "I am a girl, sort of" she teased "and I haven't seen you since I got them and it's hard to explain over the phone." In fact she doubted Steve would have believed her over the phone. Although this was a sort of weird place for him to have to discover her secret.
Epsilon stretched out to offer a blue, weighted ring to Natasha.

The boy blinked, head going to the side. "Huh. Never saw that one coming." he admitted. Sandy'd always seemed like a boy to him - a sort of shy and nervous boy, but a boy. But he was a girl, sort of? What was that supposed to mean. Shaking his head, the dark haired spawn decided he honestly didn't care to try and reason that out, instead deciding to talk to the other about their growing.
"So, how's being bigger treating you?" the boy asked, offering a hand to Sandy much in the way two 'bros' might do one of their weird hand grab pull woogedy woogedy handshakes in greeting. Because really, Sandy was his best guy friend, even if he was apparently a girl too. Thaaaat was gonna get so awkward. Especially since you do not oogle the chest of your best guy friend - unless you're gay but then you wouldn't be oogling for breasts, now would you? Gah this took too much thought!
Natasha curiously poked at that ring, her googly eyes - now featuring lashes apparently - wiggling about as she did this. They didnt' move like normal eyes, of course, but them being there still gave the illusion. Boris, on the other hand, popped up to half high five the blonde's other larger tentacle and the two small ones up top. Or high one, really. Either way.

Alpha, Omega and Delta smacked against Boris in greeting. Any resentment from the paintball fight a while back clearly gone. Epsilon taking matters upon itself placed the ring over Natasha liked a big sapphire necklace.
Sandy ran one hand through sun bleached hair before answering and extending the other in the direction of Steve's outstretched one. "It's a bit weird but mostly I like it, I'm allowed to do more stuff now, like go places alone and that sort of thing." Sandy enjoyed that bit of independence but didn't take too much advantage of it. She still wasn't comfortable out late at night alone or going too far from home. " What about you?"

"Eeeeeeeh, not too different from before, except I can do more stuff and it's more awkward." the other boy agreed, snorting as he watched Natasha get a new piece of jewelry. "She's not allowed to keep that, E." he told his friend's tentacle, having at least memorized their names by now.
Poking Sandy's stomach after a moment, the spawn smirked, "So why aren't you in the pool proper, scared of the water?" he joked. The pair had been friends since they were small so palling around and joking like this was no problem. Hell, he didn't even mind putting a head on Sandy's knee as he said this and looked up at the other spawn from the water. The boy knew what parts to stay away from, thank you very much.

Epsilon flicked water at Steve's face in mock annoyance.
Sandy shook her head as she looked down at Steve. "I got bored of diving for rings and then it was nice and warm up here." The sun on her bare skin was pleasant and offered the spawn the chance to gain something of a tan.

The boy stuck his tongue out at it, and Natasha wiggled at the both of them as if telling them they were being silly - or laughing. One of the two. Steve stopped trying to figure out what the tentacles were saying a while ago - if it was urgent, they'd let him know.
"You're gonna start looking like one of those MTV girls at this rate." Steve joked, shaking his head at the tanning skin, blonde hair and blue eyes of his friend. Apart from the tentacles and the male genitalia, total beach babe. Oh and the being his best friend. That too. Of course.

Sandy snorted at that, "Are you trying to say I'm pretty or shallow?" Pretty she might agree with although the spawn felt she was rather plain compared to some. Shallow though, Sandy had never been shallow, she'd been raised to look at more than just appearances in people. After all she knew perfectly well how much they could be deceiving.

Steve raised a brow, "I said lookin, didn't I? Not acting. You're you. Nothin wrong with being a bit shallow in any case." he pointed out before shrugging, "Though I'm pretty shallow myself so I'm a tad biased there."
Ducking back down under the water for a sec, Steve let his hair get soaked for a few moments before popping back up. The sun beating over it always seemed to feel so hot and he needed to keep at least his head cool. Sweating at the pool was just gross.

Laughing for a moment, and unsure if she thought Steve really was shallow Sandy used her legs to push the boy away from the wall after he'd re- surfaced. That done she slipped back into the water herself and was now face to face with her friend. " You know you haven't really changed since I met you" the girl mused. Oh he was bigger and stronger now but he seemed to be the same funny but weird old Steve she'd known since the days of the ball pit.

Steve snickered, "Well one of us has to stay the same to make up for how much you've changed." he pointed out, reaching out to dunk the other spawn quickly then dart away. Not meant as a mean gesture, of course, more him being playful.

Sandy resurfaced sputtering and narrowed her eyes. Oh that was it, he was so not getting away with that. Kicking off the nearby wall for extra propulsion the green eyes girl swam after Steve intent on catching him and exacting some friendly revenge.

The boy grinned, moving backwards through the water at a quick pace. He'd probably have escaped pretty well if it weren't for the rope that separated the shallow and deep ends. Crap! Turning to Sandy, he tried to duck away from the other spawn's advances. "Now now, Sand, don't do anything rash." he joked.

"Not rash," Sandy assured her friend "Pre-meditated." Not a good thing to admit about murder but giving her friend a good dunking wasn't really a crime. That said she launched herself at Steve, arms and tentacles spread out to grab him and prevent escape.
