To create a character here, the first and most important tool is the Player's Handbook 3.5. If you do not have a copy of this book, and cannot find it in your local library, or online as a PDF file, please let me know, and we can try to work something out.

Most players use a paper copy of the Character Sheet (found at the back of the player's handbook or here), which is ideal for those that play in person. Others find it useful to have a paper backup copy of whatever character sheet is posted online, should they want to make revisions or level their character away from the computer.

You should always use pencil to fill out your sheets, so make sure you have both a pencil and a good eraser handy. Open the Character Dice Rolling thread, so you can roll for your character's abilities and such things there.

The Character Sheet

Once you have this book, or some version of it, in your hands you will be able to start building your character. There is a character sheet at the back of your handbook, or one can be found at the top of this page, under the v.3.5 Character Sheets heading. Either sheet is acceptable, as well as any campaign-specific sheets your DM may provide. Do not fill out the character sheet in your book - make a copy of it. This allows you to use that blank sheet as a master copy, instead of using it once, and not being able to use it again.

You can go trough and type the character information out into a post here for your character if you choose (and many players who post in forums do this), but if you have a scanner at home or access to a scanner elsewhere, by all means print out the sheets and fill them out! It makes things much easier on the both of us. If you scan the sheets, please do not post them as an image here - it will stretch the page or be unreadable, depending on the size. Provide the URL of the image, and I will go there to look at it.
