Personality:
To best describe Zenos in one word, the best term to use is enigma. Zenos is very distant, and closes himself off from others, rarely speaking to any given person, and if he does speak, his sentences are often broken; usually one or two words at a time. Anyone that hears a full sentence from him should consider themselves very lucky as they are probably hearing more words from him than any single being has heard from him in their lifetime. In fact, many have come to the conclusion that he is a mute. When he is totally isolated, he often talks to himself to pass time and keep his vocal chords working, but in hushed tones. To be more precise, he does not converse, that said, he will speak the names of his attacks if the situation calls for it, if not, then he will not. To communicate he often uses gestures, which gives the first impression that he is very rude, of course this is something that does not bother him. His fellow Espada are fairly accepting of this personality trait, and thus usually aren't bothered by it. Aside from this though, he is capable of using Sign Language.
Zenos is also very proper, he walks straight, sits up straight and has excellent manners aside from not speaking. Along with that, he will bow to anyone to give his thanks. While he is normally stoic-faced, he does express emotions from time to time, ranging from looks of general surprise or a smile when someone has bested him. His signature look, is a set look of general unconcern. His stare is often vacant on top of this, making it look he isn't paying attention to anything in particular. Unlike a lot of Arrancar, he is quite humble in manner and does not consider himself to be better than anyone else right after meeting them; he actually waits to gauge their strength before thinking such a thing. Those he deems powerful, he will register them as either his equal or his superior in his head.
During fights, he has a tendency to keep his hands pocketed until things get heated, as a majority of his techniques can be used without the use of his hands. One of his quirks is to keep his eyes shut when he is standing still, thus leading to the allusion that he is sleeping, which he does often. Zenos' loyalty to the other Espada is fairly loose and despite being their leader, he neither chooses to associate himself with them individually, nor is he concerned if one of them is killed off or chooses to leave their rag tag group.
Biography:
Before death, Zenos was born in Athens, Greece during the Crusades (1000 AD) to a upper class family as the first of a pair of twins. He lived his life fairly peacefully, but kept to himself save his brother. He began working as early as age 12, if only for the satisfaction of doing work and not for money, since his parents still provided for him. Around the time he was seventeen, a pure-blood vampire attacked his house while on the run from his own clan, thus he needed sustenance. His parents were left barely alive, and Zenos was blooded, thus turning him into a denizen of the night. He was disowned and cast from his house, forced to live on his own and now without the luxuries of high-society. Believing his brother to be dead at the hand of the vampire that had blooded him, he wandered the earth for decades, slowly mastering his Vampiric abilities and learning how to feed and how long he could go without feeding. Though he was a vampire, he never killed, but only drank what he needed to survive. He was half-immortal at this time and thus he could not age. After the turn of the 12th Century, Zenos was once more able to walk the earth during the day as he evolved into a High-Daylight Walker, or a vampire with sufficient enough magic to gain immunity to the sun's effects on his body.
Centuries passed (16th Century) and he finally met his end when he was cut down by a Shinigami Captain who had been dispatched to deal with him as he was considered a nuisance to the humans, even though he was far from it. Once he was killed, however, he managed to escape Konsō through early signs of Reiryoku use that were apparent due to his Vampiric abilities. Finding himself bound to the earth, Zenos began to naturally evolve into a hollow, and once his transformation was complete, he found that he felt like he was alive once more as the desire to feed was much more present. Thus he did so. Traveling to Hueco Mundo, Zenos began to rapidly evolve into a higher being, using his Vampiric base to grow in power quicker. Around 300 years ago, he evolved into a Vasto Lorde hollow and was Arrancarized by natural processes. His Vampiric state caused him to be more powerful than a naturally born Arrancar would be.
He shed his Vampiric powers as he gained true immortality, which was his ability to regenerate wounds by using forcefully generated iron whiskers to mend his wounds, this coinciding directly with his Resurrección's abilities, though it carries over to outside it as well. The only remnants of his Vampiric powers are his long, sharp canines, and lengthened, sharpened to a point nails. After a brief period of living in Hueco Mundo and keeping to himself, Zenos took to the Human World and isolated himself in Athens, which he was attracted to, with his Reiatsu fully suppressed. Zenos remained for several years slowly regaining memories of his life, until he finally returned to Hueco Mundo and joined the Espada's ranks as the Primera.

Other Appearance: As remnants of his Vampiric abilities, Zenos has long, sharp canines and lengthened, sharpened-to-a-point nails, two things he was unable to get rid of once he shed his Vampire side. Along with those were the silver hair and dull red eyes, which were generated after he was blooded. His frame is slender, and in no way bulky. However, his body is toned with muscle, complete with a six-pack abdomen and defined pectorals.

 Zanpakutō  Αρχαία Γοργούς (Gorgon Antiguo, Ancient Gorgon): Zenos' Zanpakutō is a black dagger that has two bent protrusions on both sides that serve as a tsuba, and a spiraled handle. In the dead center of the two protrusions lies a vertically placed stone eye with a light-purple pupil. The blade itself gives off the image of being stone, but it is in fact made of Tamahagane (玉鋼:たまはがね, jewel steel) which is made from black sand. It is also quite sharp, being able to slice open skin by the slightest of touches. It's sheath is sewn to the inside his jacket, just above his heart where he keeps it at all times. It's presence there prevents his heart from being struck from both the front and back. Αρχαία Γοργούς is one of the few Zanpakutō that has an ability while in it's sealed state; should it cut through a person, the wound left behind will suddenly harden, turning to stone (this applies not only to the blade itself, but the protrusions as well). Unlike Breath of Stone and Eternal Petrification, however, this is a permanent mark and would have to be removed through surgery. The ability is not limited to just that, however. For instance, if the dagger is stabbed into a wall, that wall will turn to stone.

Its release command is Πετρώστε [Petrify] It is unnecessary for Zenos to draw his Zanpakutō to release it, and upon release the dagger remains the same. His Resurrección, like other arrancars', returns him to his former self, and as Vasto-Lorde level Arrancar, Zenos has no mask to speak of and looks completely human in his Resurrección. In fact, his Resurrección is nearly impossible to distinguish between his sealed state provided he uses no moves. The Resurrección itself, aside from the powers listed below, only increases his speed and strength up to the point where his Sonído surpasses a Captain's Shunpo, and his strength is to the point that he can shatter a boulder with a flick. The Resurrección form of Αρχαία Γοργούς retains the same latent ability as it has when sealed.
Resurrección Special Ability: Zenos' Resurrección grants him the ability to totally manipulate things dealing with stone and rock and the like. For example, he can create rocks out of nothing, summon large pillars, or move stone with his mind. Thusly, Gochūtekkan and Bankin Taihō are rendered totally ineffective against him because metals are made from minerals, and as his alias suggests, his Zanpakutō deals with all things ground, though more specifically with metals and stone than things like sand or dirt.
Δέρμα τιτανίου (Piel Titanium, Titanium Skin)
TThis technique is a willed-activation technique, meaning that it can be activated and deactivated at any time and without any prior preparations, and can sometimes activate on reflex alone. This technique increases the density of Zenos' entire body, up to the equivalent of Titanium, to provide and incredible defense while still allowing him to move perfectly. Every aspect of his body reaches this density, including his eyes, hair, lips, etc. Due to this increase, Zenos is able to easily combat and stave off Bankai-level attacks with his bare hands. He usually uses this ability to partially strengthen the density of selected parts of his body during battle, but can extend the effect to its entirety if he deems it necessary. Normally, Zenos leaves the Piel Titanium active beneath his clothes and not on any exposed skin in order to trick his opponent into thinking it's not actually there, causing them to try and attack him bare handed, which leads to them getting injured. Piel Titanium effectively drops the power of nearly all Hadō drastically, easily making those below eighty completely useless against him. As the melting point of Titanium is 3,000 °F, Zenos can survive swimming around in lava. His grade of Titanium is Beta C, and has an ultimate tensile strength of 200,000 psi, thus there are few things that can cause his defense to break. The metal is paramagnetic and is a generally low conductor of electricity, thus low-level and mid-level electrical based attacks will have little to no effect on him. Strictly speaking, his opponent or attacker has a much higher chance of injuring themselves than they have of injuring him if they come at him with Kendo or Kenpō.
Ο ΜONOAIΘOΣ KIΩN TOϒ AIΔOϒ (El Pilar del Piedra de Hades, Stone Pillar of Hades)
Summons several, colossal iron pillars in the air around or behind Zenos that he can use to defend or attack. Each hexagonal pillar is made up of Ausformed (hardened) steel carrying an ultimate tensile strength of 2930 psi and a melting point of 2800 °F. By speaking an incantation in Ancient Greek before using this ability, a vast number of the pillars will take shape instead of just several.

Λόγχη του χάλυβα (Lanza del Acero, Spear of Steel)
Summons a number of steel spears (1-100) that are three feet long, cylindrical and tapered on both ends to a fine point. They are roughly made, so the edges are uneven and jagged in places. With this ability, Zenos can use these spears to punch holes into a target or break apart barriers. Even a Danku is said to be unable to stand up to it. Each spear is made up of a type of iron, Martensitic steel, which has an ultimate tensile strength of 2070 psi and a melting point of 2800 °F.

Πνοή Πέτρας (Breath of Stone)
Zenos breathes out a gas that turns whatever it hits to stone. Any part of a spiritual being's body that is struck by this gas turns to stone for 3 posts, after which the spell wears off. Once the petrification wears off, the area affected is subject to being quite uncomfortable, even painful to use for 2 posts, as everything in the body part is turned to stone, including blood, thus halting blood flow to that area.

Zenos fires a beam from his fingertips that turns any object that it strikes into stone, including living beings. Any part of a spiritual being's body that is struck by this beam turns to stone until Zenos seals his Resurrección, after which the spell wears off. If Zenos should hit a spiritual being square in the forehead with this beam, their whole body will turn to stone and remain this way until Zenos seals his Resurrección. Once the petrification wears off, the area affected is subject to being quite uncomfortable, even painful to use for 4 posts, as everything in the body part is turned to stone, including blood, thus halting blood flow to that area. While a stone statue, the opponent can be broken apart, thus killing them instantly.

Zeno's special Cero that is available to him after his Resurrección is released, and uses the ground as a medium. A light grey color will glow around Zenos before being sucked into the ground through his feet. Zenos then points his finger, creating the light of the beginning of a Cero, though nothing is actually taking place, thus confusing the opponent. The actual Cero, which is bigger and more potent than the Gran Rey, is fired from the ground in whatever direction Zenos desires after he flicks his outstretched finger in that direction. Any Earth in the general direction of where the cero is directed, with begin to heave up with the cero in a wave like fashion, shooting upwards to the enemy, along with large chunks of the earth that is up heaved. It can be made wider and even thinner to Zenos' whim.

While using Segunda Etapa, Zenos' form actually does shift in contrast to using his initial Resurrección. He grows younger in appearance, becoming about 16 years of age and being reduced to 4'10" in height. His nails lengthen and gain a metallic lustre while his canines grow as well. His hollow hole shifts slightly, increasing in size by about and inch, a symbol appear to stretch across his back and his eyes shift from red to golden colored. In this state, Zenos' Reiatsu becomes overwhelmingly powerful and it can be noted that it no longer feels like Reiatsu at all and is even hindering to most Captains. While in this state, Zenos' abilities are augmented to the point that a single bala can be powerful even against a Captain. The aspect of this Segunda Etapa that sets it off from any other Arrancar form, is that it forces his vampiric tendencies to resurface, giving him that thirst for bloodlust which will often cause him to act differently than normal, violent and vengeful as opposed to quiet and lackadaisical. In addition, Zenos now acts more instinctively than before while murderous thoughts fill his head, making his moves that much harder to predict.
Δέρμα βολφραμίου (Piel del Tungsteno, Tungsten Skin)
Zenos' Titanium Skin gets an upgrade to Tungsten carbide 857. It is composed of 85.7 % tungsten carbide, 9.5% nickel, 1.8% tantalum, 1.5% titanium, 1% niobium and 0.3% chromium. This Tungsten carbide measures between 8 and 9 on the Mohs scale and is four times harder than Titanium. The Tungsten within the Tungsten carbide changes the melting point of his body to 6192 °F and its boiling point to 10031 °F. With this, even techniques as grand as Kurohitsugi are rendered ineffective against him and Ittō Kasō would serve no threat.
μαύρες λεπίδες (Cuchillas Negras, Black Blades)
This technique creates twelve pitch black blades made of Damascus steel that hover around Zenos providing for rudimentary defense and a form of attack. Four float parallel to each other on his right, another four on his left, and usually four parallel to each other in front primarily used for attack, though one of these can often be used to cover his back. Each of these are made of the incredibly durable Damascus steel and are capable of cutting through Zanpakutō when the right amount of force is applied. They are not meant to be used for Kendo, but instead will move at high speeds at Zenos' will and flick in many different directions, drawing thin white lines across the ground or any surface from their movement. After a second passes, the lines split open and create chasms in the ground or surface, causing significant property damage as well as creating a large amount of rubble to fly into the air for attack.

Arrancar Abilities: Enhanced Endurance/Stamina
Zenos' stamina and endurance is to the point that he his able to shrug off major, potentially fatal wounds, and keep fighting, even after he has been fighting for extended periods of time. An underlying factor to this is both his regeneration ability and his pain threshold.
Immense Strength
Despite his small and thin build, Zenos is frighteningly strong and can effortlessly put a lot of destructive power behind his attacks. He has shown the ability to physically discipline those primarily known for their large build or strength with no visible effort. Zenos is capable of overturning huge sections of rock by stomping on the ground, and is capable of kicking people a tremendous distance, causing significant damage to whatever they hit. More often than not, even if he is pulling his punches, his opponents are going to be bruised to the point of significant pain.
Immense Spiritual Pressure
As the strongest Espada, Zenos' Reiatsu is nothing to be trifled with, giving him an incredibly imposing presence. While he normally keeps it suppressed with his Reiryoku Suppression ability, when he does release it, it causes anyone who is close enough (within a 1 mile radius) to feel the might of it. He forbids himself and 2-4 from releasing it while under the dome of Las Noches, as the Reiatsu released upon doing so would deal significant damage to his surroundings. It's might is to the extent that he can kill off younger hollows and unseated Shinigami simply by releasing it. As all Arrancar do, Zenos' Reiatsu is dual-type, meaning it contains both Shinigami and hollow elements but it's still more hollow than Shinigami. When actually released from his Reiryoku Supression, which is rare, Zenos' Reiatsu fills the air like dust, choking and gagging those who breath it in. When he releases his Resurrección, the Reiatsu falls to the ground like tiny pebbles. The color of his Reiatsu while around his body is silver and metallic in appearance.

Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant
Zenos' proficiency in CQC is nothing short of something to be truly feared as possibly his most deadly ability. Because of both his Titanium Skin and Iron Regeneration, the need to focus on defense is so small that Zenos will focus solely on moving in close to the opponent to drive his hand through their body with the help of his sharpened nails, or deliver a strong, debilitating blow, without fear of being harmed while doing so. Despite his minimal skill in defensive Hakuda, he is quite adept at solely catching blades in between his index and middle fingers, or with his bare hands, and using open-palmed blocks against other blows. These skills make up the majority of his defensive prowess, the rest being dodging more than anything. Also because of his Titanium Skin, his strikes are considerably augmented by the density of his skin, making them all the more deadly. Above all, Zenos relies on Hand-to-Hand Combat as his primary method of attack, rarely ever removing his Zanpakutō from his jacket unless the jacket is damaged. Due to his quirky nature of keeping his hands in his pockets at the beginning of a fight, Zenos has adapted a fighting style in this state that relies on fluid dodging with the upper body and attacking with the legs. However, once his hands are removed, he quickly switches to a style that uses both, employing strong kicks and punches as well as stabs with his outstretched fingers. Furthermore, his trademark move is to flatten his hand and put his fingers together, and then impale his prey's heart in one swift move, killing them almost instantly. It is for this reason that it is rare for anyone to survive a fight after Zenos has beaten them, simply because he always finishes the job unless interrupted or somehow outwitted.
Master Sonído User
Zenos' skill and speed in Sonído is so great that it seems as though he possesses a form of teleportation as he moves in the blink of an eye, simply "appearing" solidly instead of shimmering for a second like other Sonído users. His proficency with Sonído is also able to create multiple after-images of himself to confuse the enemy. Like any master of the art, he is capable of using Gemelos Sonído, which allows him to leave behind quasi-clones by increasing his steps only a little. He uses this technique as diversions, substitutes or multi-directional attacks. These "speed-clones" generated by his intense Sonído are so realistic that they had even shown the ability to bleed after getting attacked.

Enhanced Hierro
Aside from his monstrous strength and Hand-to-Hand combat abilities, Zenos is primarily known for having the highest defense of all Espada. His Hierro is such that he can stop blades with his bare hands, even those from Captains, and emerge without a scratch. The same can be said about blocking Bankai attacks with his Hierro alone, though this is not as effective as his Piel Titanium.

All of Zenos' projectile-type Hollow abilities are Silver in color, and more potent than other's due to the high concentration of Reiryoku in his body.

As a remnant of his Vampiric powers, Zenos is a true immortal and is able to regenerate any and all wounds, including those to the heart and brain. Though his regeneration differs from High-Speed regeneration itself, and is by nature a little slower. By focusing his powers of iron into his own body, he can force iron whiskers (tensile strength of 11,000 psi) to take form and spread across this wound area, acting like muscle, tendons, ligaments, tissue, and skin to repair the wound. The result is that affected area is pure, malleable iron and thus gains a higher density in exchange for full function. Despite this, major organs being turned to iron and ceasing to function properly will not cause him to start dying. With either the release or sealing of his Zanpakutō, the area returns to normal, thus healing his wound fully and completely.
Reiryoku Suppression
Zenos is capable of erasing his Reiryoku's presence, which prevents him from being located by both Pesquisa and the Shinigami equivalent to detect Reiryoku. Combined with his Silent Motion, this can easily let him slip through any area unnoticed, providing he remains unseen, of course. This also erases his Reiatsu to the same extent, making him appear and feel like he is incredibly weak.
Pain Threshold:
Zenos has a very high threshold for pain, in fact, it is almost as though he does not feel it at all. Even if a limb is chopped off, he'll ignore it completely and let his Iron Regeneration take care of it.
Extra Sensory Perception
With all things earthen, Zenos exercises a specific ability to commune with them via a specific form of Psychometry. It is akin to psychic resonance, and he is able to hear the "voices" of Earthen materials and gain information from them with a simple touch. He is also able to speak with them on the same level.
Keen Intellect
In addition to his remarkable combat prowess, Zenos is also gifted with great insight and understanding of situations at hand. With his calm and collected nature, Zenos can be highly perceptive and analytical, allowing him to easily deduce the basic idea of his opponent's skills to figure out their strengths and weaknesses.
Immortality
While it is possible to defeat Zenos in combat and wear him down to the point that he can no longer move, he cannot be killed. His immortality allows him to survive numerous fatal injuries, and any form of dismemberment; he even retains his ability to speak after having his head cut off. However, his head still needs to be connected to his body in order to control it, which is quickly remedied by his Iron Regeneration, where his Iron Whiskers would whip out of his neck and attach to his head, reel it in, then patch it back on. Fears: Seeing his parents die. It's an irrational fear, drilled into his psyche due to dreams of this occurring. They began springing up ever since his parents nearly met their demise to the vampire who blooded him. As they have long-since died, this is hardly a thing he could ever witness. However, for some reason he still fears it and dreams about it on occasion.
Triva:
Zenos' surname, Athanasius is the masculine form of Athanasios and means "state of being deathless, or immortal." Ironically, this is his given surname, not one he adopted after being blooded. Point SystemPoint System Agility
