Faction/Race Undead - Vetala
--- Note: Vetala have several names, such as 'Vetal' or 'Baital', but they are essentially Ghouls or Vampires (depending on the translation) who can and often do possess and reanimate a corpse.
Personality
Amrita is a very simple Vetala, Dedicated to learning and poisoned with tunnel vision to focus on her studies to the best of her abilities. She takes pride in what she does manage to accomplish, making her generally barely passing grades feel like a medal of honor. Look down on the overly decaying Zombies all you want, push her over in the hallways, she won't care so long as nothing falls off of her; chances are equally good she just fell on her own anyway. It's happened before, it will happen again.
Despite her actual self being a more socially acceptable member of the Undead, she has taken over the 'Zombie' frame of mind as she is currently locked in a Zombie-like body. Due to the fact that she was never a Zombie originally, she does not understand that this current body of hers is one of the end-of-the-food-chain ones. Heck, she is still incredibly proud of herself for even possessing this body to begin with! Besides, she is merely borrowing this rotting body until she has the strength to possess and reanimate a new one. A better one. With more skin, and less smell. Up until this body she could only possess skeletons with a minor amount of muscle or flesh remaining, having a body that can be identified as mostly humanoid is a great accomplishment for her. They should be proud of her for that! She is certainly proud of herself for it.
She tries very hard; studies take up most of her time, leaving very little in between for social interactions. This is truly because she is limited to the bodies of the deceased that she is possessing, and as such her mental capacity is rather slow; she has no choice but to focus very hard in order to get where she wants to be...even if it is a slow, grueling process. Her inner Ghoul shows through here; she wants to succeed, she knows she can do it, it's just the getting there that is the hard part.
When she does go out and socialize, she will still attempt to make friends with any other Zombie as she does not yet understand the social hierarchy of 'her own' kind; that the less rot there is, the better. That being said, she understands the hierarchy for the other species, and won't go near the Mummies, Patchworks or Vampires unless she has no other choice or unless they go up to her first. This is mainly because she is terribly embarrassed over being a Ghoul stuck in a corpse, and adopted the mentality of 'Who would believe me, if they knew the truth?'.
If they do end up talking to her, well...then she just gets a big head because hey, the cool kids are talking to her! It would be enough to make her happy for hours.
Physically, Amrita is small and rather clumsy, especially when walking. How could you not be, with your feet pointed backwards? More often than not, she looks like she is constantly moonwalking - shuffling feet is pretty much the only way she can get around. Not only that, but her hands are also backwards, meaning at a 'resting' pose, her palms point outward from the body.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy?
Right now, Amrita can only easily possess and reanimate the corpse of very decayed children, and wishes to build up her own strength and power to be of use to her brethren, and to be less of a shame to the name 'Vetala'. This thought really only came to her when she possessed the corpse of a young only-mostly decayed girl as a test...and managed to get herself locked in. Oops. Well, that was embarrassing.
Each year, she will hopefully have learned enough to be able to get herself a new body, and to detach herself from the previous year's body to inhabit the new one. Each new body should be in better standings when it comes to decay, and each year her mental capacity will get larger as the bodies become less rotting. She will more than likely go for the same 'type' of body - girls with similar hair and eye colours at the point of their death...but no matter how fresh the body, the hands and feet will always point backwards; it's the trademark of a Vetala-possessed corpse. And, every year, without fail, she will get trapped in the body. This will happen until and if she ever graduates.
FEAR:
- About the Vetala: The Vetala are said to have an uncanny knowledge of the past, present and future, along with deep insight into human nature. That being said, they are also known to kill children, cause miscarriages, and drive people mad. But there is one set of Vetala stories in particular (25, actually), called the Baital Pachisi, that focuses on a Vetala that a King is trying to capture. The only way to successfully capture this Vetala is to not speak a word, but every time the King gets his hands on the Vetala, it tells him a story that ends in a thought provoking question, along with a threat that promises bad things should he know an answer but not speak it. Each time, the King answers the question, and each time the Vetala disappears, leaving the King to try again another day.
Natural:
-----> You Make Me Sick!: A play to the 'Killing Children' aspect, Amrita can currently only make someone feel ill. A passing wave of nausea that may or may not be spawned by the rotting flesh of her current body.
FEAR:
-----> Answer me, Please: Amrita's FEAR is a FEAR that is more for support than anything. If attacked, she will do her best to make her attacker answer a question. Right now it won't be anything more thought provoking than 'What now?', but it will more than likely be along the lines of 'What's that?'. If answered, Amrita will be able to give them the slip. Probably. Her FEAR puts her body into overdrive, and if her question is answered, she will more than likely be able to avoid the attack, at least a bit of it, anyway.
Physical Description:
Eye Colour: Gray, hazed over as with any corpse.
Hair Colour/Style: Long, Black, unkept with dried or withered flowers stuck in its knots.
Skin Colour: Grays, Greens, Browns Blacks - rotting heavily, and skeletal in some places.
Clothing Style/Colours: Only a Hindu Sari - The pattern on it is up to the artist, however the primary colour should be either red or yellow as young and unmarried girls are buried in either of those colours. The Sari is worn as a wrap, as I imagine skirts and dresses don't stay up well when your hips are rotting.
Extra: Her hands and Feet are pointed backwards. There is a high level of decay on the body, but how that looks is up to the artist...but there should be the same withered, dead or dry flowers stuck to her rotting skin from the funeral rites.
