Noelani had found a large, flat rock, where the sun hit it just right, and had sprawled herself across it as much as she could. The pale pastel blue of her coat blending only slightly with the gray of the rock. She wasn't really looking to blend in though, so she didn't mind that her white was bold against the darkned grey, or that she was quite visible to anyone passing by.

Her pink eyes had closed themselves and she appeared to be sleeping. But sleeping during the day as a single, alone female, was not a good idea and she was instead simply resting her eyes - which was not a euphamism for sleeping this time!

The slender cheetahess stretched lazily after amoments continuing her make-believe nap and her eyes flickered open to peer at the harsh sun. It was quite a warm day, which was why she was resting, but it was not hot enough to make sleeping in the sun painful. She yawned, and smacked her tongue to the roof of her mouth, frowning when she realised how dry it was. Mmm, a cool drink wouldn't go amiss, she mused and pushed herself upright, but in her wanderings, she had yet to see a single watering hole and she frowned at the rather dry surroundings.

Pausing for a moment from cleaning his paws, Mauja stared off into the grass before him. It was beginning to change, he could see, but he liked the change. It had always made him feel older, but that never stopped him at all. Taking in a deep breath, he stretched out on the grass, feeling all the tension just slipping away. It felt nice, to be able to be so carefree for once. Today, his thoughts were away from his home, away from his family. It wasn't that he didn't care about them, he just needed a little 'me' time.

His orange eyes were partially closed as he stared up towards the sky, his back nestled nicely in a soft patch of grass. There really wasn't anything for him to do today, but he didn't feel bored at all. He just felt....there. He kind of wanted to get up and look for someone to annoy for the day, but then again...it just didn't seem worth it. It would take some very appealing company to make him move from his spot. Or food.

Noelani reluctantly shifted from her rock, almost seeming to melt off of it in her obvious reluctance to move. However, the pressing need to drink caused her to shift. She would have preferred a nicer area anyway, she decided, and set of away from her dry surroundings, hoping to stumble across something more...pretty, and thirst quenching would be appreciated. It wasn't long until she spotted an area of grass in the distance, which appeared much nicer than her former place, she decided, and might even have something to drink for her!

As she approached the grass, her mind more on a drink then anything else, she was surprised to see a shock of brown within the grass. She paused for a moment, before realising it was a male cheetah...and a handsome one at that. She began to smile, almost without realising it as her walk became more of a graceful stalk as she moved towards him.

"Hello there," she called out to him, hoping he would be friendly. It always made things awkward when they weren't friendly.

Wiggling his toes before his eyes, Mauja found slight amusement in their movement. He held a goofy grin as he looked on, completely oblivious to the world around him.

His ears perked suddenly as he heard another voice nearby. Flipping his head back, he saw a pale figure, who he assumed the delicate voice came from. "Oh!" He mumbled slightly to himself, feeling the sudden urge to straighten himself up a bit before he turned around to face her. "Why....hello." He rose to his feet, dipping his head lightly in a greeting. She was....striking, to say the least. "My name is Mauja, miss." His orange eyes scanned over her; she seemed almost like a ghost, gliding across the savannah.

Noelani slinked closer, an appraising look in her eye as she watched him get to his feet. She resisted the urge to purr out loud. My, my, he was so handsome. She loved his coat, it was so beautiful and natural. “A pleasure to meet you, Mauja,” she said, outright purring his name. She drew to a stop once she had reached close enough to him. She kept her posture straight, attempting to look appealing as she met his gaze. ”My name is Noelani.

So what brings out this way, Mauja?” She asked, fluttering her eye lashes slightly, in a stereotypical 'flirtatious' gesture, but it seemed to work when it was used by other females, so maybe it would help her.

Oh, did Mauja love first impressions. They were pretty much all most females got, as he wasn't one to stick around unless asked. And her first impression was, well, pretty alluring.

"Well, miss Noelani, what brings a dainty thing like you out this way?" His eyes were half-closed in a 'cool' expression, with a sly grin on his maw. It was the same question he'd asked hundreds of times, but every time it took on a new meaning.

Rolling his orange eyes over her, she was....well, something special, to say the least. Her eyes seemed to pop out like precious jewels against a snowy backdrop. Hopefully she wasn't as cold as snow, though. But by the way she was looking at him, he knew that she was trying to be a little more than friendly. Lucky day.

Noelani smiled, her claws latching and unlatching in the ground beneath her paws, her delight showing in her eyes.

"Dainty?" She repeated, almost a purr. Dainty? She hadn't been called that in a long time, and really, what girl didn't like to hear she looked slender. "Well I had been out looking for some water, but I think I found something far more interesting then water to capture my interest." She resisted the urge to giggle.

"Do you mind some company, kind Mauja? I fear my paws are sore from walking," she murmured flirtatiously, taking a step closer and feigning a tired limp. If it had been real, it wouldn't have been nearly as graceful as it was. She wasn't really sore, but if it got him and her in close contact, then a little lie was no problem.

"So you find me interesting, hm?" He raised his brows to her, feeling quite cocky now. "You should know, if could be quite dangerous inflating my ego..." Almost mumbling to himself, he chuckled a little after his words.

"I never mind company." Rolling his head to face her, he moved it in a way that beckoned for her to come closer. His statement, he knew, was rather false; Mauja only never minded female company. He tended to....well, not get along with most males. He had gotten into a physical fight with one on a few occassions, and verbal ones on most others. They just didn't appreciate his universal love as much as the ladies did.

"Come, rest you delicate paws, love." Turning around to face her, he plopped himself down, tightly curling his tail around his base.

Noelani lowered her eyelashes delicately, as if she were embarrassed by his statement. "It's not bad if the flattery is true, Mauja," she told him airily, moving over to him with long leisurely strides, her 'limp' all but disappearing in her effort to look elegant.

"Thank you, you're so very kind to me," she said, lowering herself down next to him. She curled her tail around her, the tail flicking playfully. This was easier than she thought it would be, but he seemed so sweet, and kind, so she didn't mind that he wasn't exactly needing to be wooed. Of course, she liked the attention he was giving her. Much more fun then having to fight to get him interested.

"Soooo," she purred. "Do you live around here, Mauja?" She tilted her head to the side. Perhaps he had a den around here, she thought, smiling slightly.

"Whatever you say, dear." Winking at her momentarily, he watched her every step, noticing nothing off about her. Maybe it was his bewitchment that blinded him to any problems- or he was just ignorant.

"Isn't everyone kind to you?" Bringing up a look of concern, Mauja could never understand those who were cruel to kind females. Sure, he had raised his voice at a gal or two, but they all desperately deserved it.

"Um...." Staring off into the sky, he filtered for an answer. "I don't really 'live' anywhere." Lying through his teeth, he grinned at her, trying not to let on about his massive family. While he loved them, they could be....well, a total turnoff. "What about you, sweetheart?"

Comfortable now, careful to keep her head up and neck arched -she was told that it made her look regal if she did that, and she was going to make sure she stayed looking pretty in this male's eye for as long as possible. She tilted her head to the side, laughing off his concern. "IT's fine, I promise you! No one has been cruel to little ol' me. I know how to hold my own, even against nasty males."

"What a coincidence," she chirped brightly, her smile brightening. "Neither do I! I have always felt settling down was a bit boring," she waved her paw. "I always have the worst trouble finding denning spots though, lions and leopards tend to get to them first," she explained. Perhaps he would offer to help her look for one and she could...convince him to share it for a while. She smiled.

PostPosted: Sun Dec 26, 2010 11:58 pm

"Well, that's a relief." As cruel as it sounded, Mauja didn't really care all that much. He cared, just not....that much. He was far more interested in her that her backstory.

"Oh, isn't it?" Smiling at her, she really did seem like the type to get wanderlust easily. He had tried it, but it hasn't worked as well as Nafsi probably would have hoped. Too many temptations. "Lions can be such nasty things, no?" He vividly remembered the time he was attacked by one- well, he could've avoided the whole issue if certain sly comments hadn't been made- but that was beside the point.

"I could aide you in...you know, fighting off those lions?" Raising a brow to her, he knew where this conversation was leading- but for once, it was egged on more by her than him.

Noelani nodded her head, though she had very few experiences with lions of either sort, nasty or nice, even if they did often chase her out of her dens, they weren't purposely cruel when they did it. "Yes, they can be," she nodded sombrely.

However, she perked up at his offer. "You would help me fight of the lions?" She asked, her eyes half lidded. "There you go being all nice to me again, Mauja!" She shifted, pleased that he was so receptive to her offer. "I would be delighted if you assisted me."

Watching her for awhile, Mauja could feel himself start to itch. Not in the itchy-scratchy sort of way, but in the 'I-can't-sit-still-much-longer' itch. Kneading his front paws on the ground, he quickly stood, letting his tail sway behind him.

"Well then, shall we? I mean, there is no time like the present." Tilting his head towards her, he was quite excited- and having fun- for the first time in a long while. All his waiting had really produced a jewel from the savannah.

"So, miss Noelani, looks like you're stuck with me for a little while longer." Smiling, he took a few steps in whatever direction was in front of him, teasing her to follow. Whatever happened, he knew, would be a fun ride.

As he got to his feet, Noelani stayed on the ground so as to watch him rise, delighting in the smooth gestures and the muscles he displayed as he did so. It wasn't bulky muscles, just hinted ones beneath his fur. Smiling in delight, she pushed herself up right.

"Sounds perfect to me," Noelani said smoothly, continuing to smile. She brushed passed him, her tail curling up beneath his chin as she began to walk. She wasn't really sure where she was going. "Being stuck with you sounds like it could be quite...fun," she said, peering back over her shoulder, her eyes half lidded.

She was glad she had gotten up from her perfect sunning spot, if she hadn't, she wouldn't have met him and her day wouldn't be nearly as entertaining. The gain was well worth the small loss.
