So im thinking that for marching band im gonna use a Baritone instead of Trombone because its easier to march with i just want to know tips i dont think it will be to hard at least i hope not ill just have to learn the fingerings for after middle c (bass clef speak btw not treble XD) which i think arent to to hard
plus my tone on Baritone is so much better than my tone on Trombone (my friend tells me it has to do with it being valves or something but im not sure thats true)

Do NOT break even if it hurts dont it only makes you weaker if you break i may be a girl but hey i can stand and hold a beritone up longer than a few of our freshmen.

I marched with a Trombone for four years as well as baritone at times. the baritone may be easier to play because of the valve system, but they have the same issues as any of the large brass have. the baritone is a weighty instrument that is rough to carry around while you march all over the place, also the jostling you get if you don't roll step correctly makes any sound coming out the bell sound like a dying platypus.
I very much like the valve system on the baritone, but for marching? I'd have to stick with the trombone. not only is it much lighter, but it is the only instrument in the band that is always guaranteed to be in tune if you know what your doing with the slide. also it takes less air to play the trombone at volume, thus making it easier to play and march at the same time.
Then again, this could just be the constant battle between brass that has existed since the beginning of music... so idk.

Baritones all the way! Hardest instrument to march because it is heavier than any other instrument that is held like a trumpet is and that pose requires the most upper body strength to hold and march correctly.

I know that it's not terribly hard to play both the Trombone and the Baritone. It's just a matter of converting slide positions to fingerings in your case while in my case it was the reverse.

It Might take a little for you to get all the fingerings down pat but if you work on it you should get it. *I switched from trombone to baritone in 6th grade.*

Baritone is definitely easier to march :} Haha I play trombone and baritone, don't worry, the fingerings are easy! And its the same thing for me: my tone is better on baritone.

I play trombone, trigger, valve, bass and everything. And while I don't have formal training on the baritone I do play occasionally and I have noticed that the fingerings for it generally stick right along with the positions. Open is like first position, second position tends to be first valve. and so on and so forth. However I disagree about baritones having a better tone, you probably just need a larger and deeper mouth piece to get a more warming tone, try something around one or two sizes bigger, but keep it in C as I'm guessing that is what you use
