The evening was coming but Sokota really needed to catch something before the next day if she wanted to stay on schedul. Though, it seemed like luck just wasn't with her tonight because there didn't seem to be a living thing in sight. The cheetah continued to lurk in the tall grasses until she came upon a small watering hole. She cautiously looked around and made sure she was alone before lowering her muzzle into the water taking a few gulps of water. Lifting her head, she backed away from the watering hole and hid herself in the small bushes next to the water. Maybe something would come along looking for a refreshing drink.

Suk was out hunting for his mate. Though she was fully capable of doing it herself despite her blindness, he felt it was his job to take care of those needs while he took care of other things. He was hidining in the shadows, waiting for some sort of prey to go to the watering hole but so far it was only lions and other unedibles. He watched as the cheetah approached too, and he snorted in frustration. How was he supposed to catch anything when everyone else chased his prey away.
Sokota didn't even notice the wild dog until after she had settled herself back into the bush. She jumped slightly and then heaved a sigh of relief as she realized the creature she had failed to notice wasn't big enough and wasn't planning to eat her. "Oh. You scared me. Sorry." She then realized that she had intruded on his hunting grounds. "oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know you were hunting here."
Suk just wrinkled his nose at her for a moment. He for one loathed talking aloud. He hated communicating with anyone other than Laughingstar, his mate. He cleared his throat. "Doesn't matter. Haven't seen anything other than other predators so not much luck for dinner tonight... at least a good one that is" He said, tossing his eyes over his shoulder to check for anything suspicious. "I scared you huh? Thats pretty funny."
The cheetah looked the wild dog over assessing that he wasn't a threat and she relaxed a little. "Yeah, I haven't seen anything worth eating either so it looks like I'll be going home without food." Sokota needed to account for this set back in her plans for tomorrow and her mind was already going through her future plans making adjustments as needed. Because her hunting trip failed, she had a little time to chat with this wild dog but as soon as time was up, Sokota knew she needed to leave. "Yeah I was caught off guard. Why is it funny?" Tilting her head curiously, Sokota wasn't the best hunter and she clearly wasn't the most aware of her surroundings.
Suk looked smug if anything. "Because as a hunter you should be aware of your surroundings or you could become hunted. Hyena's like any kind of meat I hear..." He said, looking around for another moment. "I will just have to see if i can find something small to eat I suppose. My mate isn't against eatting a rabbit or a few mice for a meal." He said confidantly,
Sokota scanned her surroundings once again feeling a little paranoid about what the wild dog was saying. What if he had friends that were just waiting to jump her? She shuddered at the thought of becoming someone else's meal. Sometimes she forgot that she could prob run faster than most animals and get away if needed. All she could think about now was if she was going to fall preys to some predator now. "I know... I'm working on that." Oh, did this wild dog have a family? That was interesting. Sokota mostly met loners and rogues without a home or family. "I haven't seen anything in this general area even the smallest mouse or rabbit. I'm not sure why though. It's right next to a watering hole so there should be some life somewhere..."
Suk just sat for a moment watching her get nervous and felt a bit happy at her reaction to his words. Good .Maybe she would be more careful. "One must always be careful." He said with a nod. "The prey aren't out really right now... to hot... the sun is beating over their heads... so they are hiding mostly. I sit in the shade, waiting to see if maybe a creature will seek shelter and I can use that to my advantage. One must always be wary."
Sokota noted the sun's position in the sky making sure that she still had some free time before she had to return back home. Thankfully, she didn't have a family or a mate to feed so she could just go hungry for today and hunt tomorrow because her luck didn't seem like it was going to turn around anytime soon. She nodded at his statement to be careful; she was a much more cautious animal now that she was out living on her own. "That's true and a good strategy. The heat is starting to become a little unbearable. I would be hiding too. I hope that you're able to find something to bring back to your mate today. I don't know if my luck is going to turn around." The female sat on her haunches and carefully watched all of the movements around her.
Suk sighed. "I hate not bringing home prey.. I feel inadiquate as a mate and a hunter." He looked sideways for a moment. "Though i know that she can do it on her own if she has too, I prefer her to not have too as it is my job and duty to keep her fed and happy." He said proudly.
Sokota didn't quite know what that feelin was but she could imagine. There was something about males having to do the grunt work and brining home the food for their families. "I'm sure she wouldn't be upset with you and would understand." That was nice that he seemed so devoted to his mate. She was very lucky to have found someone that seemed to care about her so much. So far in her life, Sokota hadn't been as lucky but maybe someday she would find someone just for her. "That is very noble of you but don't beat yourself up about it. Everybody had good and bad days."
Suk stood up and shook off his pelt with a sigh. "She won't... but it is my duty. I feel bad if I don't do my job. It is my duty... and i need to always be there for her..." He looked to her. "I should be going to her... shouldn't let her keep waiting hungry with no explanation. It was nice to talk to you cheetah." He said, starting to head off.
The cheetah nodded and understood the meaning of duty. It was like how she felt like it was her duty to stick to her daily schedules. It all made sense and she really hoped that he would find the prey that he was looking for. "Understood. Hope you find some prey soon and it was nice talking to you too." It really was an interesting talk. She realized how late it was getting and she really needed to head back before the sun set.
