 so, it seems gaia is doing a pretty steampunk themed event this summer. and in time for the events actual start, they have also released a load of cash shop items (most of which are quite well placed in a steampunk outfit) When the event starts i'll add more to this intro post so discuss: - The Event - Possible Event Tasks - Possible Event Items - Cash Shop Items

CASH SHOP ITEMS:Well, after messing with some of the cash shop items (i bought the "Frontier Skies Bundle" and got one of all of them, plus an extra, bundle-only item) i have found that all of them, except "Diedrich's Crew" have some definate steampunkability to them. This is my avatar:  I have used both "Edmunds Crew" (the jacket) and "Sams Crew" (the hat), along with the bundle-only item "Helmsmans Domain", from the Frontier Skies items, along with a few other items to create my avatar. the Helmsmans Domain does NOT include a background beyond the ship, the sky in mine is from the "Dreamscape" item (roughly 40,000g on the marketplace) but i think they work perfectly together. I sold the items "Carl's Crew", "Diedrich's Crew" and "Louie's Crew", although Carls and Louies have definate aspects of them that can be steampunked (the jacket and bag from Carl's, and the hat and jacket from Louie's) so what do you guys think of the items, and of my avatar? (ill update this with images showing all the poses for each item when Tektek catches up to gaia and adds the new items to its database)

I really like the new items. They mix in well with the other items that have Steampunkability.

I am very excited for this new summer event purely because it appears to be so steampunk/airship-themed. As soon as I saw the event page I began working on a new Jolly Roger to put in my sig to represent my airship and crew.

You know what the staff say there is more 'GOLD' shop updates than there is 'CASH' shop updates they have got that way backwards.

guys, stop arguing about the shops, wrong place for it... sure it would be nice to have some new gold shop items but there are actually more GS items than CS items, they release a new CS item each week maybe but they release about 30 items in the cash shops every month or two...
but yeah, what does everyone think of the items? regardless of which shop they come from

I wouldn't spend $2.99 on them, but they're certainly workable.

Im excited about the event as well, I love the airship and plus the steampunkish theme smile
So (about the event): I think in that item aspect this event is pretty similiar to last summer's event (Chaos Camp) because there were both cash and noncash earnable items.
I think we would have to gather items, maybe óeven cashmir tree stuff for that burned creature. Im having a bit of suspicion that we wiull have to click a lot again, just like at Chaos Camp and at the 2009 Halloween event...
About the items: I like the Louie and Sam items the most, but I dont really plan getting them... I also like the Helmsman one, the backgrounds are so... "atmosphere giving". Ive seen some fantastic avis in which helmsman ship background and some other items' sky backgrounds were combined smile

There seems to be a comic about the event. Here's what I can tell; the event will be a browser game based on helping a floating creature (The blob in the middle of the banner) who has been attacked. The creature apparently has a forest on it's back that feeds it, but it has been set on fire, and the vampires are suspected of being responsible. The only way to reach the creature and help it is through the airships, and gathering will be used to fuel the ships like at the winter/Christmas event last year.

As much as I dislike the cash shop (and I won't go any further than that on that subject), I really do like the new items....carl's crew in particular.
As for the event itself, I guess I'm looking forward to it. I don't really know what to expect from it but from what I can see and have heard from others, I guess it sounds pretty decent.
Though I really don't spend much time on here in general any more. =/

If only I had more airshipesque attire to wear/purchase. Oh well. I'll be a neo-steamship captain! (Hey, it worked for Sailor Moon!)
