Or so they say it is... It's the middle of winter here *grumblegrumblegrumble* So, the Summer 2010 Event...
So all I know so far is... A flying jellyfish with a forest on its head has been attacked by vampires... And Edmund and Brennevin are are taking a break from finding Gino to try to help it?
To me, this seems to be the most eccentric event idea in a while.
So here's a space to share your thoughts, ideas, and intentions for the 2010 Summer Event.

Does anyone remember the poll that they gave a while back? I think it was after the last Halloween thread. It had the question that was phrased something to the effect of "Would you like to be able to 'keep' your achievements?" in reference to the ranks that we earned during the events. Did anyone else notice the message from Night Crew about how Achievements were disabled with either the direct statement or at least strong implication (I don't remember the verbage) that they were adding more? It may be silly, bizarre, or perhaps even stupid. That remains to be seen. But I'm kinda excited.

All that having been said... So at this point, it's pretty clear that the teams are going to be chosen from among Carl, Louie, Sam, and Dietrich. Louie is excluded on general principle and Carl is an absurd choice as well, leaving only Sam and Dietrich, so far as I'm concerned. Neither choice enthuses me, much, but I suppose I'll grudgingly go with Dietrich, because fact collection is... Not entirely dissimilar to the search for knowledge. Looks like those following me will be lumped in with the brainless tweens who want to help the cute green bunny, but is it that much worse a choice than the sexed-up grease monkey who is smitten with what is essentially a less charming version of a primate, an... Elk, or a modern vampire? No, I really don't think so. Not to b***h too much before the event is even released, but well done, Gaia. --..-- But what can I say? What can any of us say? They know their user base.

They won't be catering for probably half of the users... Probably....

Louie may be a modern vampire, but he's attractive, sometimes funny, and curses like a sailor when exposed to sunlight which, I'm sorry but the latter of that is hilarious on so many levels. I'm torn between Deidrich, Carl and Sam.

I'm... not even remotely certain what to think about the Summer Event... It seems that, once again, they threw a few piles of s**t at a fan and went with whatever it was that came out on the other side.
In any case, however, I think the last Halloween event had the best potential of the events I've participated in... only to be shot down hardcore. I'm still not sure if or which side I'll participate on.

I really don't care. Chances are that I won't even be able to play. No money.
Grunnies remind me of Grunties... I will kill the grunti- I mean grunnie. No rabbit.
Elk tastes good so I won't work for Carl.
Vamps burn in sun. End of story.
Guess that leaves the grease monkey... maybe.

Grunnies were created in a lab, right? Why were they using rabbits? "Grice" (or the singular "grouse") has no verbal appeal, so I can see why they didn't go in that direction, but why not "Grinea Pig"? That one is more clever, more amusing, and makes more sense. Y'know... Just a semi-related thought.

They are mounts from a game series but you have to grow them yourself. Look for them under .hack.

Oh, it looks like Edmund was available all along. I picked Edmund> Titan (named it the Blue Dragon) and named my crew mates after the top 4 guild members (sometimes abbreviating them or dropping an underscore or changing capitalization: Torzeh, Kristabelle, Tinuviel, and Snickerz). Travel log coming soon.
