Eliza sets her plate down of scrambled egg, ham, two types of pepper toast and a glass of orange juice before opening her bag.
Okay granted she wasn't exactly new to these scary things but perhaps across the pond as it were, there were more scary, frightening things than gators that would eat your dogs if they had been left outside!
She looked over the book for such *other* things awhile before snapping a rubber band at her wrist. You're not going to make *any* friends if you don't appear friendly! She scolded herself.
Eliza looks up and smiles at the first person she sees walk in her direction.
"Hey y'all - I'm new here!"

She'd have to keep herself in check or she'd scare off the next person she'd met.
"I know it - it's very overwelming. What's your first class? I have something about these creatures..."

Gilderoy walked by on his way out the door. "Hey,your the girl from yesterday.",he says grinning.

Eliza looks up to Gilderoy with a smile.
"That's me! Back for more southern comfort?"
She hands him a new bag of the brown sugar & vanilla nuts. Looking to the one she'd been speaking to -
"Do you have any alergies?"

Polo-boy-swagg ummm hi i didnt meet you yet did i? "Oops.." Removing some pralines from her bag - Eliza gives one of the pretty wrapped, southern USA treats to the new guy. Pralines are pecans caramelized in boiling brown, cane-sugar syrup and vanilla - that hardens when cooled. It was even more difficult to make, as when it was humid outside - they didn't "set" properly. So here they were sweetened nuts. She felt a little nutty herself now - forgetting to introduce herself to the other! "I'm Eliza - and this..."she pauses giving Gilderoy the chance to do his own introduction. Given the impression he'd made on her yesterday, she felt that such a detail might be important to him.

Gilderoy Flashed the boy a bright smile as he always does when he meets new people.
"Hello there. I'm Gilderoy Lockhart? And you are?",he asks him extending his hand in a friendly manner.

Eliza says carefully; Not trying to be unfriendly but unsure if bringing up one's class list might not be good first conversation starter.
She sips from her glass.
"Are either of you going out for any teams or clubs this year?"

"What do you like to do? There should be something for everyone here..."
Even at one of her old schools where funding for extra activities was limited (could only provide a spare room) her and a few people could still have a good time by working together!
And provided a distraction from the new piles of homework they were expected to tackle every night..

--- Luna walked into the Great Hall and absentmindedly pulled a book out of her blue knapsack. She'd be anxious to get back to Hogwarts all summer. Stuck in that drafty orphanage wasn't much fun.
She raised her head when she heard a familiar voice, looking around to see whose it was. Luna's attention turned to Gilderoy Lockheart. She rolled her eyes. Gilderoy was a nice guy, but he was a ladies' man, most definently not the best at sorcery. They'd met once or twice last year.
