Fun fact before we start: My title was supposed to read "Everybody loves purple." I found the typo so funny I thought I'd best leave it... I'm going to post the beginning of an unnamed tale. It may just stay as it is though: a very short story. Just beware, it's pretty purple... also, I am English, so excuse my different spellings if there are any! Please, read on and critique away!

The thickset grand old oaks, kings and royals of the forest and all land westwards, locked arms with each brother to breathe life into the old Omnipotali Woodlands. This sprawling kingdom of hidden beauty covered the far reaches of the western lands found beyond the great Petosasi Mountain Range, a great barrier of treacherous peaks reaching beyond the hand of the sky.
Among the lofty oaks that claimed their land, vegetation of every translucent hue pulsated and danced with the soft touch of the wind, never sleeping. Vibrant blues adorned creeping vines, while reds and oranges cast a flaming glow abundantly in crops of ancient flowers, blooming and bursting into fresh arrays of warming palettes every morning. There was nigh on a step to be taken without cracking a shivering branch or waking a flurry of jumping petals, excitedly leading on those who dare to follow.
There was no death in this forest, only rebirth. As one plant aged and decayed, so it would bring forth more in its stead, keeping the cycle of undying life flourishing for eternity. Fragrances and fruits of all kind were brought forth by these magnificent creations. Nectars and juices dripped from ripe fruits and flowers to give the forest a distinct feeling of dampness. The chorus of the forest both shattered through the wood, but at the same time murmured quietly of secrets lost before time began. The rustle of the old oaken masters never ceased as they commanded their domain. The flowers chimed shrilly to accompany, along with the shaking bush. The hymn of the wind rattled through every branch.
Songbirds of every colour found home to sing, all as one discordant, yet incredible body of life. They danced a merry dance to accompany such extravagance. The butterflies joined these displays, insects of all glimmering shades joining to beat their wings in harmony, setting the whole forest into a glittering cove.
The soft, mossy ground provided a luxurious carpet, occasionally phasing between moist, cool soil and soft tendrils of wild grasses. The many seeping leaves and branches would idly stroke those passing through, welcoming them further in to the seemingly never ending depths of the wooded realm. Time itself was said to have slowed within the aged trunks to allow the lost to find the deepest of revelations in frames of time bound by no one.
There were those who said travellers would find themselves mislead and never return. Those of a wiser disposition knew that one could only seek and find in these lands of deep magic, they were those who were once lost who entered this forest, but nobody within it could truly be called misled, for this was a place of truth. Souls could wander for millennia, it was said. Millennia of searching, discovering, uncovering. When the answer was found, the human body decayed, giving new life to the plantations, a new pulse. Their souls would become guides to the forest, extensions of the great encompassing spirit of knowledge. In reality, little was known as to the factual nature of this place; science was an art unheard of, logic was magic and wayfaring souls were commonplace. The grand oaks only told the secrets of their wood to those whom would never leave. The quiet whisperings of bubbling streams and gushing rivers offered only refreshment to clear the mind, while hurriedly relating all knowledge of travellers to their towering oaken fathers. You may have known nothing of the forest, but the forest would have known everything of you. The long reach of the Omnipotali Wood could not, however, have ever imagined the spark that would be struck within its boundaries, causing a pivotal shift in the fickle rule of man, and the unpredictable pairing of two conflicting cultures.
It was concealed within these very woods that the following tale unfolded.
A glade blossomed into view; a being lay still with a face of purest intent. It was night, the darkness seeping gently into every corner, hiding from the luminescent light cast by the waking moon. She radiantly sat in her silent throne as the countless stars gleamed only to please her. Beetles beat their glowing wings, spiralling lethargically around the open meadow. Long wild grasses thrashed to the song of the wind, whistling merrily. Their bell like blooms drooped lazily from each thick stalk, casting scent to lull the birds of the night into wakeful songs of melancholy. The tumultuous choir resonated throughout the glade, welcoming the presence of the being that so luxuriously sprawled among the grasses.
This woman was no ordinary being. As she gazed upwards at the endless heavens, the life of the forest gazed back, giving her pale eyes a presence that spoke of divine ages. They sat softly upon a face of enlightenment, a skin so white the life pulsating within her was visible. Slight breath was visible as cold tendrils of mist fell from her soft lips. The woman was born of a human mother and father, but was said to have possessed prophetic abilities that led to her wandering the Omnipotali Woods alone. The spirit of the forest whispered to her the soft secrets that it laboured so diligently to protect. She tirelessly lapped up the knowledge. Every so often she would inhale sharply, raising her head and staring at something incomprehensible, causing the beating vivacity around her to pause, gasping with her, before she would throw her head back down to become as though with the dead once more.
So entranced, was the woman, that she failed to notice the silent, tentative approach of another being. He strode boldly, yet wary of breaking the natural world around him, towards the glade. He had been wandering these lands for many years; forgetful of whom he was, unknowing of what he was searching for. The only inkling of sanity he had retained was the knowledge that he must keep hunting that which his heart desired most. And so it was that he finally came across the glade, an apparent coincidence. It was a rare sight to behold. Here stood a man, so afflicted with mindless notions and undeveloped thoughts that he resembled a likeness more to that of a bear than that of a man. He was rank with decay, a dirtied husk of what once was. His face was grizzled and hidden behind a mask of greying black hair, untamed. His eyes were wild, reckless and deep black. They roved around, never resting until he found what was now laying blindly just a few feet in front of him. His ragged breath caught as he took in the scene. Moonlight bounced brightly around the maiden who lay, still entranced, unaware of the man’s presence. His twitching, gruff exterior stilled as he watched, he himself falling under some ancient spell woven of lust and branching futures. He exhaled excruciatingly slowly; uncertain of what action he would next be taking. In the silence that stretched between the two figures, a sudden wind rushed hastily out of the glade, escaping the scene. The woman snapped up, suddenly sitting rigidly with an unreadable expression turned towards the man. The moment passed with less than a second, the forest returned to it’s clamouring mess of noise.
“You are going to take me away from here.” The woman spoke. She was barely whispering, and yet her voice found echoes of itself bouncing around the oaken kings. The tides and ages spoke through her voice, a profound clarity ringing harmoniously with the supple tone that flexed after years of silence.
The man stood motionless, the moonlit grasses swaying and dancing around his legs. After a hesitant moment, he nodded.

"Omnipotali" My face trying to read that. Wish you could have seen. XD
Unsurpassed yet hidden? Well, how do you even know...? "This sprawling kingdom of unsurpassed yet hidden beauty covered the far reaches of the western lands found beyond the great Petosasi Mountain Range, a great barrier of treacherous peaks reaching beyond the hand of the sky, creating a fine border between the lands, finer than any manmade wall or gate." This is one sentence. That's insane. 8U
Oh no it's starting to get purple These are good words, really and they paint a wonderful image, but there's a lot to get through for relatively little.
*Raises eyebrows* Wow. You really love this forest, don't you? A happy, magical forest of love. You've GOT to be kidding me. XD
Okay, now that I've read it all... I have no idea what to think. I am both drawn in and repulsed. Repulsed, of course, by the style, and drawn in by the description. However, I had to fight, and some words, like 'pearlescent', literally sent me into fits of laughter. This is so purple, I can barely see through the haze. Yet I am interested. I can't really believe I'm interested. I was quite incredulous at the combination of subject matter and wording. I can't believe you would devote so much to a single thing. Like a paragraph to a lamp. Yet I am interested. I... I am too biased. I can't... PROCESSING ERROR. gonk I SORT OF LIKE IT YET DON'T WANT TO I THINK emo
Verdict: HYPNOTOAD

You are SO right. When I read it I am disgusted, because you'd have to be retarded to miss how purple it is. And yet there's something about it, I don't know... I worry myself! -scared face-
This was originally just a piece to convey how I feel about trees - my friends have a running joke about how unhealthy my love for trees is.
I'll have to give it more brutal edit next time.
Nothing else I have ever written has been so disgustingly purple, I think that's why I like it? It's so different, because my style is very... blunt. And bland, in a way.
Edit: Also, thank you for being so honest heart cool

Wow...the purple... razz
I can't really add much to what you and Ser have already said. Everything in this is obviously very exaggerated, but I am weirdly interested in what's going on. Despite having so much to get through, the contrast in the two characters is intriguing, as is the very brief interaction between them. I dunno. If there was less purple, I can see this being something I could pick up and quite quickly get into. I mean, everyone likes a magic forest, right?

I know what you mean, there is a good plot buried underneath the purple mist somewhere, fufufu~
I've already started cutting a lot out. It's safe to say that I a) wrote this at 3am a while ago b) will never write like this again - no more experimentation pour moi!
To be honest, I might switch over to my usual narrative and carry it on, because the plot is... heh heh... the plot... is.... BWAHAHAHAHAHA twisted twisted twisted

Don't go too far! It was just reminding of a stream of consciousness I did in the early morning hours once. Frankly, it was disturbing!
On another note, the thread about story soundtracks inspired me to make two monster playlists of inspirational writing music, I love my life. eek
