Pyke wasn't used to slacking off, and he wasn't really slacking off he was just waiting until the very last minute before he had to go and do his guard duties for the day. He had time yet but he could hardly sit still. He was waiting anxiously, there hadn't been that many days since Weyard had gone on her trial, since she had gone to meet her moon but the feeling of impatience weighed heavy on his heart.
He knew without a doubt that if Weyard was gone much longer she would come back a slave and he also knew that he would follow her. He couldn't leave her, she was the lioness of his heart and he knew he had to love and protect and honour her. So he waited, feeling nervous and twitchy waiting for that beautiful sun kissed coat to pad over the horizon.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, he needed to calm down, her trial would be over when it was over and not before. That thought didn't stop him feeling impatient and made him jump to his paws and start pacing. He would have to calm down before he went to his job. he would be no good to anyone so highly strung.

Weyard felt like her body was made of stone, submerged in water. Everything was flowing and blurry, and she felt like she could barely move. At first, just a toe, a claw, and then a wrist...she twinged, too tired to even gasp at the pain the shot through her. She'd been laying still for so so very long--she wasn't made of stone, she felt now, but she was nearly as stiff.
The next thing to hit her was the hunger. Her stomach roared to be sated, and from somewhere above her she heard chuckling. It was not malicious laughter, rather a sort of gentle amusement. The laughing lion spoke to her then, but she could only nod weakly. She was still so tired...thank goodness the landscape had stopped swirling around and settled back into place. The lion talking to her shook his head and stepped away, to some other duty perhaps...he'd hid the moon with his form, but now it lay clearly in her view. Still showing, still glowing...her heart thudded in her ears. She'd done it...the moon had chosen her for its own. She was not a slave...not to the pride, not to Tariq, not even to the moon. She was her own lion again, she felt.
After a while longer of slow stretching and regaining her feet (and a good meal of course) she set off for...where? Home? She had been offered a den while she ate, but, unthinking, she'd denied. Well where had she expected to stay then? Her mind was still fuzzy...Then, in her mind's eye, came a vision of a dark lion, his mane glowing golden-pale. Her eyes grew wide as memory flooded back to her. She had to tell him! She broke into a clumsy run, her heart knowing the way to the den even if her mind didn't. "P-Pyke!"

He was still pacing when he heard the clumsy foot falls. His head turned and his ears perked and at last her voice, sounding nervous but there reached his ears and he broke in to a run to meet her. "Weyard, Wey!" he stopped, just about, sliding dustily to a halt before he managed to collide with her.
"I knew you'd do it, I knew you'd come back with the moon." He smiles widely, his pale lilac eyes dancing. His heart leapt a beat, he knew he would have followed Weyard in to the slave class if she had fallen in to that category. It wasn't in him to leave her now he wanted to be with her more than anything else, more than he wanted to be in a higher rank. He was glad though, glad she wouldn't have to be a slave, he knew she had been through enough, he didn't know the specifics, but he knew she needed to be someone, her own lioness.
He waited for a few moments considering what to do before he closed that gap and wrapped himself around her his soft blond halo like mane engulfing her. "You'll stay with me now won't you Wey? I want you to stay with me." He looks away shyly releasing her again ever so slowly, just like before, he didn't want to hurt her, or upset her, what if she had decided to take a den of her own? "That is, if you want to." he smiles a little nervously, he hoped she wanted to, he hoped she wanted to stay with him forever.

She broke into a run when she spotted him there, waiting for her. Had he been there the whole time? The thought both frightened and warmed her. She felt overwhelmingly happy, but still afraid...what had she done to earn that level of devotion? She'd always felt the things she'd done would earn her only scorn. But now...not she had two moons radiating acceptance and love to her. The one above, and the one that finally met her, tugging her into an embrace.
She resisted the urge to tense at his touch. It was true, her heart did soar each time he called her name, smiled at her, even just stood there...but her body remembered the torture of the past months. She knew already that she would stay with him, he would just need to understand. She needed more time, still. Gently she leaned into his mane, unease giving way to a feeling of security. If they would just take it slow...
"I'll stay, yes Pyke. My mind was so muddied from all that sleep...they asked if I wanted my own den. I started to say yes, but I couldn't. I don't know what stopped me...I said no." She sighed with a curious mix of relief and sadness when he let her go. She...she didn't want him to worry about scaring her. She nudged his cheek with her nose. "If you can just be patient with me a little longer...I won't leave, ever. I promise."

The big black male smiles a serene smile, he took another step backwards. He was like his father in a lot of ways, he wanted to please the lady he was with, he knew that Weyard needed time, needed space and if that was what she needed, he would give it to her.
Giving a solemn nod the big blond maned male smiles gently. "I understand Weyard." He lowers his head a little, his pale lavender eyes fixed on the beautiful pink female. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you. I just want you to be happy. I wanted you to know how happy i am you came back." He laughs a little light nervous laugh.
He grins when she mentions saying no to her own den. "I'm glad you said no. I want you to stay here so I can look after you.." He pauses for a moment and looks at his toes. "I, I very much hoped you would come back I made you something." he shuffles his paws in the dirt looking very bashful, looking up occasionally to check that she was still there though his focus was mainly on his dark toes.

She almost couldn't believe when he told her he wanted to take care of her. Silly. Hadn't he been doing that all this time? It still seemed such a strange concept. In all her time running, and in the Ukuchaa, and even as a rogue before that, she'd had to do for herself. Not since she still lived in that far off pride that was but a memory now, and a faded one at that, had she been cared for and looked after.
This time she was the one who hugged him. He was staring at his toes, and she inched closer shyly and in silence. Finally she butted her head against his and draped a paw around him. "Pyke...I...ow you so much. You give me a home, food, health...my life back again. And now you say you've made me something?" She shook her head in his mane. It was just too much. She'd done nothing to deserve this...
I'll stay with him. I can't leave. He's done so much for me, and I've done nothing for him...And the one thing he wants is me. I'll just have to stay. I...I... She shook her head. She wasn't ready yet o admit that she was falling in love. Not even to herself, not yet. But she would stay, and one day she would be able to say it.
