Duuuuude
The pink and brown pup lay flat on his back, watching his paws wave lazily above his face. How were they dooooing that? His tongue lolled out of his mouth, which was open in a wide, happy smile. The mushroom he had decided to eat was rolling around in his stomach, singing happy tunes which echoed in his ears and made his head bob in time with the music. This was the life, huh?
He kicked his back legs happily, wiggling his overly fluffy tail. He loved his tail, it was the best thing in the world, besides the mushroom which had now begun to fly and bounce off the walls of his stomach, tickling him and making him giggle insanely to himself. OH, his TAIL. He thumped it lightly against the ground. It was pink and fluffy and perfect for resting his muzzle on at night when he was super tired. He love loved it. Almost as much as his ears. Which he couldn't find all the time~ HE was constantly losing them. But he knew riiiight where they were right now, or at least he thought so. It was all good.
The pup blinked sleepily. After nibbling the mushroom - which he could still see, wriggling whole in his tummy, if he looked down - he had crawled behind a large rock to lay in its shade. The bright light in the sky hurt his head sometimes, and caused his pretty lilac eyes to burn and water. He didn't like it when the tears ran down hi face, when he looked weak. He was fluffier and bulkier than his siblings, and felt that appearing weak in front of them was the worst thing ever. But that really was the extent of his serious thoughts, becuase the mushroom was pulsating now, and it was kinda painful.

Grumbling Jani felt twitchy and itchy and dirty and so many other things that confused her! Nothing made sense, she was all alone now there was no one like her… She was different. Sure she still had her sister, sure they still kind of looked the same but it wasn’t enough, now every time Jani looked at the pup all Jani could see was… Dirt. Growling Jani twitched, this wasn’t right… She wasn’t right something was wrong, everything was wrong! Glancing around angrily Jani had to claw something to release something, something was pent up in her it felt so tight and knotty and… Horrible!
Suddenly jani’s nose picked up that of her brothers sent, where the… Panting now Jani glanced around doing her best to search out the horribly different pup from their seven. There he was, behind a rock… Grumbling Jani’s tail swashed about on the ground, “What are you doing?” He looked as if he were floating about on a cloud, which surely he was not. He was on the ground being… Odd, change… Different.
Jani’s anger rose at the very thought.

Rock's tummy ache went away instantly as a familiar scent filled his nostrils. He sniffed the air delicately, searching in his mind catalog for who it might be. One of his sisters, definitely, why which one? He thought it may be his twin, the one who was always avoiding everyone... but she had been hurt badly, and Rock had cried, and he had hated that he couldn't help her. He feared she would die, and he hadn't seen her in so many days that he was unsure of what was happening.
Making up his mind as to who he smelled, the pup rolled over quickly, making his mind feel as though his body had rolled at least four times. He hopped to his feet, his eyes still rolling, and approached her slowly, weaving a bit on his paws. "Heeeey, dudette... chillax a little, you're making my mushroom sad." He whispered the last part, about the mushroom. He didn't want the fungus to think he was talking bad about it! He didn't want it to get angry and make him feel sick more.
"I was just looking at the pretty colors you knoooow? My paws are sooooo big, dudette. Jani they... they can touch EVERYTHING!" he wriggled his toes in the sand, overdoing the motion so much that he almost fell over. "Everything but themselves!" he pranced just then, and did manage to fall over, his paws slumped under him where he rested, touching each other obviously. "Wooooaaaah..." he exclaimed, now completely focused on his touching paws, he had forgotten that Jani was in front of him, and very agitated now.

Growling to herself Jani couldn’t help but want to scratch her brother into pieces not even she could see. Shaking out her fur Jani did her best to relax, to figure out what to do under this kind of stress. She needed her twin, her mirror… Something that wouldn’t further make her want to harm others, her family… of whom she should care about. But she doesn’t!
Her growling increased as she sat down and dug her claws into the ground, what was she to do… How was she to do it? To relax, to breathe deeply and understand the meaning behind everything, no! Too much Jani couldn’t handle that kind of thought pattern yet; shaking out her hair Jani took a deep breath and stared long and hard at her brother.
He seemed pretty calm right now, “What did you eat and where did you get it?”

The pup smiled and giggled, completely marveling over his paws. How could they touch each other? "Jani..." when she spoke, asking him what he ate, he realized she was there once again. The pup hopped up, weaving even closer to danger, to his sister. What was a sister? Were they always this grouchy? He rubbed his cheek against her shoulder accidentally on his way past her. "Wooooah, how are you doing that? Your fur is soooo soft, Jani!" he whipped around, sticking his face close to her once more. "It's freaking me out, how do you do that?"
But she had asked him a question, and was growling at him. He didn't want to share his friendly mushroom friend, and really didn't want her to know where he had found them. "Share and share alike, huh." he muttered, feeling almost annoyed, but the emotion was fleeting. "K, but... dudette you can't follow me. I'll go get you your very own mushroom friend ok?" he offered. He had to go it alone. He wasn't sure that Jani was able to get into the magic land where he had found the mushroom in the first place.
"Just stay. Sit a spell, cool your jets. HAAAAHAHAHAHA!" he let loose a high pitched laugh that dissipated into a tiny howl. He cracked himself up. Rock wove away from his sister, looking back over his shoulder constantly to make sure she wasn't following. After she was out of sight, he changed direction, heading diagonally away from her and toward his magical land. The land where his mushroom friends grew. He would have to be very careful not to eat a second one. Rock didn't want to be greedy, and he knew what happened if you were found to be greedy by the mushroom kingdom. They would kill you dead!
He finally arrived to the small patch of mushrooms. A tiny stump was left from where he had gently picked his current friend, the one tumbling and singing in his tummy. He licked the stump with the utmost care before selecting another mushroom, this one was much smaller that his own, but he figured that was best if Jani was new to being a friend of the 'shroom. He closed his eyes and grasped the mush in his teeth, taking great care not to swallow it, or crush it in his mouth. After he had the tiny thing secured, he ran back the way he came, taking the diagonal turn to approach Jani from the same direction he left her.
"Here..." he opened his mouth and stuck out his tongue, the new mushroom sitting happily on the tip of his tongue, unharmed.

Frowning Jani watched her brother make a fool of himself, going about in circles and disappearing into the woods where he knew he wasn’t allowed but then maybe he didn’t care about his family as much as she had he had? But that didn’t make any sense, he liked his sister her sister, her mirror but how could anyone like her in her current state of… difference. Her thoughts consumed her with rage at her sister, at her family at the world! It wasn’t… right! Everything was different! So new and always changing! Why must everything be changing!
Her tail wagged feverishly as she tried to pin point a non-difference between her and her sibling… her brother, one of them at least. They both had pink, which was good I guess, they were both young but that didn’t matter! Nothing of this matters! All of this was just so… Letting out a growl Jani watched as her brother returned in the same manner that he had left, just as crazy and ridiculous.
Staring at her sibling as he made a fool of himself Jani felt disgusted at the very gesture of taking something from her sibling’s mouth. “Drop it, I will eat it then.” Gesturing to the ground Jani waited for her brother to follow the command before she can consume it.

Rock's ears slumped and pinned back against his skull. His sister was sooo mean. He took the mushroom gently back into his teeth and turned, heading towards the rock he had been laying behind earlier. He placed the mushroom gently in a crevice of the large boulder, safe and sound. There was no reason to get mushrooms dirty~ It made them gritty and they were never happy in your stomach if you got sand and dirt all over them.
"There, princess." he sighed, exasperated that she was so picky and mean to him. He had gone out of his way to stop having fun and get her her very own mushroom. Now she was seriously killing his buzz, and he was irate that she would soon be happy and flying free, and he was grounded again. What a b***h!
"It doesn't take long to make friends, just swallow it. It's better if you don't chew." he instructed simply. He was pretty much back to earth now, and was all seriousness and had no time for nonsense and waste. He felt the urge to leave her to her own devices, but that wouldn't be right of him to do. She had never done this before, and he didn't want her going crazy and doing something completely stupid. He would stick around... for now.

Even more twitchy now Jani went over to the mushroom, her nose picked up the scent of it as an almost high inducing feeling, her head felt lighter and her stomach felt tight. Her growling continued as she came forward upon it, ignoring her brother, and just going for it all together. Leaning in the small pup took the mushroom into her mouth and went to swallow it but something stopped her… Glancing around Jani’s gaze had caught with that of her brothers markings, they made her feel disgusted, sick to her stomach and the very thought of eating anything further made her sick.
Opening her mouth Jani dropped the mushroom back onto the rock and turned away, “Keep it…” Anything her brother finds is just as disgusting as he is, and in her eyes he is the most disgusting thing she knows of; besides her sister that is. With her back to her brother Jani could feel her fur stand on end from the close call of becoming her brother… A shiver ran down her spine, “Disgusting…” The young pup mumbled but the day wasn’t over yet…

The little male sighed, a forced huffing sound which he really didn't wish to hear coming from his own lungs. This was not his way, and he certainly didn't like the feeling his sister was making him feel. "Fine." his brows furrowed, his eyes sharpening as he truly inspected Jani. They were only pups, and though personalities had come on strong in all the siblings, he seemed like time was standing still with Jani. Why was she so angry all the time, why was she so mean and uncaring? Was it just him she hated so intensely?
His expression softened as he turned away from her. He had no idea what he was going to do, but he wished so fervently that his family could just be together and be happy. Share the love, right? Maybe if he shared the Gospel with them. He sighed, almost contentedly this time, as he walked away from Jani. There was no need to stay near her now, she was angry, and he had no way of calming her to a point that things would make sense.

The day went on as normal for Jani, well normal for other wolves but too different for Jani to calm down from her anger high. She had paced and pounced on anything that just seemed too different in her head, and that was basically everything that wasn’t a wolf. It was slow going for Jani the warm sun’s rays against her thick fur, shaking out her back side thoughts of her calm brother from earlier came to mind. How did he get so calm, just from that mushroom? It was a disgusting thought to be like him but if it helped her with relaxing a bit her life might just be a bit better to deal with everyday.
Taking in a deep breath Jani took in the air, the wind, everything that she could to search out her brother’s stash of mushrooms. She knew he had started in one direction but the smell of those mushrooms from earlier were coming from another, the pure disgust she felt from them were stuck with her forever so she knew what they smelled like, and probably forever would.

Rock had tried really hard to just find shade and take a nap to pass the day, but he was restless, and had kept flopping back and forth to get comfortable. The sun hadn't moved much before he gave up and hopped back to his large paws. He would have to just find his family and try to blend in for a few days. Jani was worrisome, but he doubted she could be too mean if everyone was together. At least, he hoped that, anyway.
The small male padded along, not bothering to feel the funky way the sand shifted under his feet. He knew this different ground led to something groovy, but he had yet to figure out what that mystical thing was. His parents called it the 'big water'. He shrugged and figured that in due time, they would haul the large litter of siblings out to this big water. Maybe his mother might drown herself in it, as that seemed to be her way lately. Bizarre.
As he came closer to the den where his family lived, the pup realized that he would need to apologize to the mushrooms for picking one of their own and not giving it a new home to play in. He turned a 180 and headed back towards his little stash of friends, hoping that they would be forgiving. Briefly, the pup wondered if he should revisit the rock where the lonely dying mushroom had been dropped unceremoniously, but decided against it. The still-living mushrooms would tell him what he needed to do regarding that.
Drawing closer to the small mossy bed where the mushrooms grew, Rock realized he wasn't alone. He could barely see the ears of another wolf just up ahead of him, past the bushes that sat tightly around the moss-bed, protectively keeping his mushrooms from harm. His stash had been compromised. What now?

Jani was now nose deep in her brother’s stash of calmative mushrooms, they smelled horrid to her and the thought of eating them made her want to puke. Her stomach clenched as the smell filled all of her sense the thoughts of her brother, his oddities and his changes as he grew, she couldn’t allow this to happen! Glancing around Jani’s head started to spin at the very thought of her brother at the world at easting one! He can’t have that choice any more, he had to be controlled the same every day…
Nothing can change! Growling Jani’s little paws stomped out onto the ground, everything had to change, why! Why did everything have to change! It was all weighing down on Jani, her only escape was now fried to a crisp and she was alone… Forever alone, forever unique and forever changing! Her growling increased as her paws stomped out everything she could see, it was a frantic attempt at letting her rage out but it wasn’t enough, she needed something live.
Quickly her mind turned, how could she attack another? What was wrong with her, why didn’t she care! Glancing around only a few mushrooms were left and it made her think of her family, her brother as he was so calm from earlier. So calm, how… These mushrooms did it? Glancing over the area Jani slowly took one into her mouth, why only take one? They might be disgusting but if it helped…

Rock's eyes grew wide as he watched his sister destroy the tiny kingdom he had found not so long ago and begun to nurture and learn from. He was frozen in fear, now. Would they blame him? It was his fault, he shouldn't have ever told her he had eaten anything at all, and now she was here, destroying everything.
As she stomped away, he crept closer, unaware that he was actually moving. It wasn't until she opened her mouth, bent her neck down and engulfed one of the last living mushrooms, that he lept forward, finally taking action. "NO" he squeaked in mid-air, pouncing towards her to bowl her over and away from the mushrooms. He had wanted to share, he HAD, but she had put him down, called him and his mushrooms disgusting. Was it all a rouse to get him away so she could do this? WHY?
He tumbled into his sister and nipped at her face, trying to make her open her mouth and spit the mushroom out. If she was in such a terrible mood all the time, and hated him and the mushrooms so badly, he was certain that the mushrooms wouldn't make her so calm and happy that they made him. No, they would have their revenge for her assault against them. He couldn't let her eat the mushroom, he just couldn't.

By Jani’s surprised her sibling tackled her, she couldn’t very well say he was attacking her but the suddenly outburst made her auto swallow the mushroom in her mouth. She didn’t have the effects right away first she had to deal with her brother, “To bad!” Growling Jani rolled away from the pink male of their group and her body began to twitch, more so then usually.
Everything was bulging out and her head felt so funny and everything was… huge! Why was everything changing so quickly before her very eyes, she had never seen it like this before… Was was this normal? She was supposed to be calm but her blood quickened with the feeling of dread, this was horrible! So… Horrible! Growling Jani spun around hearing twigs snap behind her, hearing voices from above shout at her, things darkened and lightened at the same time! “Stop this!” Her eyes grew wide at the feeling of other wolves watching her, why would they watch her!
Growling Jani spun in a circle and things blurred together, why… Why! Until suddenly an image of her sister came to mind, was that the way to fix everything? To become like her sister? Nodding to herself Jani stopped before quickly started to naw on her own leg; up and down her small sharp teeth went… Right this was what her sister looked like right?
Up and down her flesh ripped and her fur vanished into her mouth getting caught between her teeth, was that enough?

As he watched his attempt at damage control fail in slow motion, Rock stepped back. Jani was twitching and twisting now, and he feared for her life. She had only eaten one, but... had his first mushroom been a whole one? He couldn't remember, and he grew increasingly frightened as events unfolded. "Jani?" he whispered, his voice shaking now. She pleaded with him to stop it, but he couldn't. She would have to deal with this. "I can't, you did this to yourself Jani." he backed up more, becoming aggitated at her situation. The mushrooms were punishing her for being so terrible to them. Maybe she deserved it.
As she spun in circles, Rock was glad he was backed away. He didn't want her to attack him. This was terrible, and he swore that he would never disrespect the mushrooms again, and never ever would he tell anyone about them. There would have to be another excuse for his behavior. Rock felt tired now, as though his body was being forced to sink to the ground. Heavy. He watched with interest and terror as his sister began to gnaw and rip at her own body.
"Jani don't!" he cried, tentatively creeping towards her. He didn't want her to attack him, but he couldn't let her kill herself. "Come on... it's not that bad, please?" he stood to his paws as she became more fervent with her self attack. "I'm going to get help." he whined, whipping around to run the way he had come. He would have to get his father, and fast. He just hoped there was anything left to save when he returned.
