As Matasoga requested, because we were discussing the Australian slang and that made him confused. I'm a Korean living in Australia so I'm not the expert on Australian slang but I do have some which I got from my guy friends.~

Let start off with G'Day. This one you guys might know as good day just shortened.

Bogan means an Australian lout... Just the type of people in Australia.

Occa means a funny Australian bloke. Can sometimes be related to Bogan.

Okay the difference in American and Australian use of 'Root'. Over in America it means you will support, in context, 'I am going to root for that team'. In Australia it means sex and in context 'She is a good root'.

Dero means derelict. Slow or just plain stupid. Bogans aren't that... Bogans are actually smart...

Shazza or Sheila means a girl or woman.

Oh and the slang in each state is different too... Not entirely sure about other states because Queensland and New South Wales I hear the slangs but I hear different ones in Victoria or Western Australia.

One example for me that is new is. 'Around the Jacky Horner', This just means around the corner...

But thats all... I'm no expert. Uh... If you guys have any slang from the country you are living in now then add~ Hope you guys learn! xD

I was told that a Bogun was just a stupid Aussie. Can you elaborate a bit on the bogun?

I'd say a Dero is a stupid person.... Bogans aren't stupid... They are just your country non city living white people.... That is all... They can be stupid sure, but not all of them are stupid.

Bogans to us in NZ fall into two categories:
1: A male or female who tends to look rather rough, and who listens to hard rock/classic rock/heavy metal music.

2: A farmboy from the South Island who is socially awkward when it comes to being in the city.

haha this is really brilliant to read! In the UK we don't really have a word for people who don't really live in a city hehe xD

probably the coolest sland we have is things like "Brew" for a cup of tea.
(darn it, wish I was a londoner or spoke cockney or something, they have loads of cool words hehe)

Never Stop Dreaming...

American slang? If I listed it I'm pretty sure a lot of you would just get bored and skip over it because you already know it... >.>

But, thankfully, if you ever end up visiting Elizabethtown Kentucky you will realize that we have a few tweaked words and phrases that I'm not sure anyone else uses them. If you're a teen that lives somewhere else and your friends use these too, don't blame me because like I would know whats popular, haha.

WTFM: common amongst a lot of the middle schoolers and the more immature freshman. (I would say all freshman, but I'm a freshman and I don't use it..) It's the same basic text talk as WTF only we had to be different and add the M for some reason? Like I said, I don't use it so I wouldn't know. But instead of texting, kids will walk around and actually speak text talk. like, "Wtfm, omg he is so cute. Well ttyl." Yea.... I have no idea what anyone's saying anymore >.<

MOFO: Usually used towards someone you're upset with, a very minor insult to call them this. The only time friends use it is when their joking.

Done?: I'm pretty sure this is just a southern thing but it gets on my nerves so bad. and I think its spelt 'Don' but I spelt it how its pronounced. It's usually used for something someone has done or wants to do. Just a mesh of bad grammar I guess. ex: "He don walked up there and then he don opened his presents."

Thur: I love this one. And everyone uses it. It's just a stupid way to say there. I kind of use it as a mock to everyone's country accent, but other than that it's pretty common.
And actually only like 2 people in my school have a real country accent, which is probably expected, I mean we aren't that far south, we're kind of in the middle...

Rhada: if you watch the show Chowder you'll be familiar with this one, so I'm pretty sure that other places use it too. But it seems that the kids in my town has kind of taken it as their own and use it to express anger. ex: "You what? Rhada Rhada!!" I like this one too 3nodding

Lastly, these aren't slang words that we only use and know this for sure. But, when i was growing up, 'epic' and 'uber' were usually strictly nerdy words to describe 'epic' journeys and 'uber' D&D battles.
But recently EVERYONE has been saying epic and uber, it makes me feel less weird since I've been saying them like ever since I could talk lol.

I hate this, so much. I rarely hear it said here, but when I do it grinds at my nerves so badly...it's just awful.

For those that have seen Firefly and/or Serenity, there is a word that one can use in real life or at least I do.

Shiny. Cool or fine. Can be used in many ways. From Serenity, "Everythin's shiny capt'n..." or from Firefly, "I want to be the king of lindinia and wear a shiny hat..."

One word, many uses. I love it. I like the look of confusion on the faces of those that don't know.

haha! I can't believe you brought that up! I'm a huge fan of that series and now you mention it I have been using the word 'Shiny' more often xD Huh...that explains the odd looks 4laugh

Oh yeah, Mainers use the term 'wicked' to describe the magnitude of something.

Like, 'It's wicked cold out there,' or, 'That lobstah tastes wicked good,' or something of that sort.

Oh, and here is a good little blog I stumbled upon on the subject of Maine slang. The part about using French words in place of English ones, even by people who only speak English, is especially true, since my mother does it a lot.
