I'm smoovegeek, and I'm your guild captain! My goal is to teach philosophy.
I would describe myself as an independent Objectivist. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Rand's ideas, but I don't agree with everything she said, nor do I believe Objectivism is a complete and closed system. I appreciate the developments offered by Kelley, Sciabarra, Machan, Rasmussen, etc. I also find quite a bit to like in the political philosophy of Robert Nozick.

My name is Xulia. I am a christian and am pro life. I am living in the southern part of the U.S. I'm really here to learn about WHY people stereotype people such as me. I am also looking for reasons as to why a person does the things they do and believes what they do.

My name is John. I am greatly influenced by my family members and my rabbi. I am relatively critical of certain aspects of American society, and in the future, I hope to put myself in a position where I can start changing things. If I could influence one person to turn from a harmful lifestyle, then I would feel successful.

My name is Dillon Hertlein. On Gaia, however, I am referred to as Raven. I go by that name because I prefer it to my birth name, so I would appreciate it if you would call me by the fake name.
My opinions are based off limited teachings of Christianity, conversations with friends, and my own thinking. I'll almost never quote anyone, but I will usually provide a quote of my own. Religion is always a good topic for me, so hunt me down if you think it worth your time.
If I gace any more than that, it wouldn't really be worth talking in the forum. So I'll leave the rest for you to find out through conversation.

My name is not really John Blackthorne; rather, John Blackthorne is one of the main characters in James Clavell's ShÅgun. My real name is Jason L. If I ever get around to it, I plan on starting up a donation thread to raise money for a name change.

Well my name is Lenneth, but I really do prefer Aesh. It has a more Scandanavian sound to it, which is something I find particularly appealing. At any rate, I come from a rather diverse religious background. I have quite a bit of 'ingrained' Christianity in that it was what I was brought up in. I'm not really sure what to make of the religion issue, which is one reason I enjoy talking with people of different belief systems. Personally I find it fascinating to hear what people think because people are so diverse. I like to be challenged. I like people to find the flaws in my thinking because I feel like it makes me stronger and more capable of supporting my views.
I suppose my one vice is that I can get too literal at times. It isn't that I don't have an open mind, I guess I just don't latch onto abstract ideas as quickly as I'd like. Once again, this is a vice I'd like to overcome.
Anyway, that's me.

We sure have a lot of religious people in here!
Not that it's a bad thing, but as long as everyone's talking about it, I'll divulge that I'm an atheist. I'm not a militant atheist, though, so don't worry about me taking a chauvinistic or patronizing attitude. If I do, I assure you it's entirely unintentional and you may feel free to bonk me on the head.

My name is James Jackson, But I prefer Kimp. Technically, I am Unitarian, but I don't practice, or stay true to most of the morals. I read many religious things, but I am in no way religious. I am open to learning why people act they way they do (referring to religion). I listen to others opinions and am capable of having a intelligent conversation with out insulting. I am pro-choice, if anyone cares. I live in middle America. My background is German/Irish. I am willing to help any person who asks for it, as long as they haven't offended me, or anyone else. I do not discriminate on sex, religion, age, or race, I do however, slightly discriminate against stupid people. I have very bad spelling, but a unnaturally large vocabulary...Ok...Well...That's all I want to tell...My post is getting kind of long...You can read my DJ for more...

Well I'm known as Wolf Larsen, taken from the charracter in Jack london's novel the Sea Wolf. Unlike him however I am not an Atheist, rather I am Christian. Now before anyone sees this and tells me this, yes my religion is very intolerant and yes it says that quite a bit of us are going to hell. However I will not to presume to push my views on anyone else, but if you have questions about it let me know and I'll try to answer them. My major philosophical talking points are justice, honor, and various abstract concepts. My major flaws are that I tend to leap around when I get caught up in the moment and its not always easy to follow. If I do so just let me know and I'll fill in any blanks I may have left. I was born and raised in Alabama. That does not mean I am an unintelligent hill billy. It just means that I have relatives like that. I think thats enough for now. You can find out the rest later.

I'm Whozit. I don't really know what I am... I just recently got into philosophy, or at least the kind that we talk about here. I'm an inquisitive person and I'm curious about way too many things to list... the main one is the unexplained -- why we are here, whether psychics exist or not, metaphysics, UFOs, ect. Lately I've took it upon myself to learn about psychology and philosophy.
My main influences are books. Nearly any kind of book I can get my hands on really... It all started with my children's Bible and it took off from there.

Ill be 18 by August and Ive been interested in philosophy ever since I read the book 'Sophies World' by Jostein Gaarder. Ive never "studied" philosophy in a class before and I only depend on books and also online discussion forums like this guild. I dont have much to say for now because I consider myself as "fresh meat" to philosophy so Ill stop here. Ill edit more when I think of something though xp

I'm Derrik Robert Hyde Klitsch. Just Hyde please. Derrik matches Klitsch witch comes from from my mother's side of them family, I'm sure you guess what that means. Religously I'm Crsitian but philosphicaly I borrow off everywhere. My most important quote would probibly be "Do what you want but harm none", an old wiccian saying. I'm an Evolutionist and I guess independent because of that. It buggs me when I don't know how something works, I remember learning to ride a bike. I refused to beleive it was possible without training wheels until I acualy did it and relise the aerodynamics kept it up, I could of kicked myself. My main intrest is psycology. I engoy breaking myself down and finding out what realy makes me who I am but it's not alwas so good. Once you find something about yourself out you can't forget it. I'm 15 and that probibly putts me at a huge disadvantage here.

I'm Jessica, fifteen and from Las Vegas. I guess I'm Unitarian Universalist... but only in name. Actually I'm agnostic. I have read Ayn Rand's philosophy, and to be blunt, I believe that she is rather childish, even sophomoric; many angsty teens like the idea of only living for yourself without realizing the consequences that go along with it. I play the violin, read constantly, and I've been told that I'm intelligent. airsswordsman I am influenced by EVERYTHING. ^ What he said.
