Caoimhe sighed as she circled the treetops. This was the beginning of her second week in these new lands and she was still getting lost. With a sigh, she landed in the first clear spot she could find. Trotting til she came to a stop, she looked around and noticed a white speck in the distance. Cautiously she made her way closer. Clearing her throat when she was far enough to make a getaway (she hoped!) but still close enough to be heard, she called out "Uhhh...hello there?"
Her face was a mask of caution and a touch of trepidation. Not everyone here was friendly (Or so she had been told.) She made sure to take note of her escape options as she noticed the speck was a stallion. She also noticed that he had wings, "Oh great. Pick the one that can chase you... Smooth move Caoimhe..."

Winged and horned, the mare would notice once she'd had a chance to get a better look. By all appearances every inch the alicorn she herself was, if not quite as colorful. Roque had decided, for once, to take advantage of fair weather while the sun was up and was out more or less basking. Letting it warm his back, at least. He startled very faintly and lifted his head, giving himself a shake as he looked for the source of the voice. Didn't take long to spot the mare coming toward him and he turned to face her. What was it with his mother's kind? Were they all just so full of color they couldn't help but wear it on every feather? "Hello," he called back. "How do you do?"

The mare smiled ruefully and replied, "I'm well. Just a bit lost I'm afraid. You see I'm still relatively new to these lands. I don't know my way around just yet."
Caoimhe gave a soft chuckle and said, "My name's Caoimhe. What's yours?" She liked meeting new folks, though she was a bit shy at times. It did her good to be lost. It forced her out of her comfort zone and made her talk to strangers. It was something she wasn't used to doing.

Being lost could indeed break up the usual routine, and push you to do things you normally wouldn't. It could also leave you confused and at a loss and, quite possibly, scared. Not that Caoimhe seemed scared at all. Just. Lost.
"There's a lot of land to wander around, if you don't know where you're going," Roque agreed. "Where are you coming from and where are you trying to go?" He'd do his best to guide her in the right direction, despite the fact that the lands looked so much different in daylight. His sense of direction hadn't failed him since he'd been a colt.
"Roque," he answered. "I'm Roque."

Caoimhe gave the stallion a gentle, if sheepish smile. "Just trying to get back to my two-legger's teepee. I got blown of course when I was going to visit my sister. That's how I ended up in this land. Now I'm here without knowing where exactly here is." She blushed as she realized she was rambling and murmured an apology.

Roque cast a glance skyward, as if he could somehow see the wind that had blown her around. Of course he couldn't, but looking was instinctive. He shook his mane a bit and looked at Caoimhe again. "The wind can get strong around here, sometimes. Your sister must be worried about you." He paused, shifted a hoof against the ground and asked, "Did you come from a high place, hidden in the mountains?" After all, that was where his mother had come from.
And that was beside the point. Back on task, stallion. "And do you remember what it looked like around the teepee? Were there trees?" Roque approved of the two-legs who were wise enough to hide their homes a little in the camouflage of the trees. Not so much those who simply pitched their teepees in the open for everyone to see. No way to protect against predators, that.

Caoimhe frowned thoughtfully as he asked if she recognized anything near her teepee. "There were...mountains nearby."
She closed her eyes, ears turning this way and that, "I think there's a river nearby as well..."
She smiled faintly at his comment on her sister, "I hope she's not too worried. I do miss her." The white mare shook her head to clear her thoughts, "What about you? Do you live nearby?"

"I ask because my mother tells stories about living in the mountains," Roque explained. He should really have started with that, probably, as it might have seemed to come out of nowhere. Still, better late than never, right? "So I wondered if you might have come from the same place." He shrugged his wings easily and smiled.
He nodded at her last question "Not far from here, anyway, in caves with my family and herd. It keeps things cool, at least." If not exactly clean all the time. "I guess it'd take a little getting used to, but they suit us just fine."

Caoimhe tilted her head. "I'm actually not really sure where this is. I used to live near the desert..." She paused and looked thoughtful, "Is there a desert nearby?" It was the main thing she remembered about where she lived.

Roque nodded slowly. He'd not heard of anyone coming out of the desert, but all things were possible, he supposed. "Not too far away," he confessed. "I've seen the edge of it, flying. Never landed there, but I've seen it all spread out and empty." Not the sort of place he'd like to be, he thought, open and exposed in a way that was far too much for him.
He smiled then. "But if that's where you've come from, you must be glad to be here. We're closer to the water here." Something she'd no doubt realized. "More grass, more leaves, and it's probably cooler."

The white mare chuckled and nodded, "It is indeed much cooler here. Prettier and more lush too. Sometimes it was hard to find good grazing. You'd have to go to an oasis or some other grassy place. It was usually a long trek. If I can figure out how to get back...I'd bring my sister so she wouldn't have to worry about food. That'd be nice."
Caoimhe's face grew wistful, "She'd love the scenery too. I miss her." It had been a couple of weeks since she'd gotten lost and now she was feeling guilty about exploring this new place.

Roque tilted his head, watching her. He hated to see a mare sad, and he didn't like thinking that he'd reminded her of unpleasant things. Wandering was one thing. Getting lost or lonely was something entirely different. "Once you've got your bearings, I'm sure you'll find her again," he said, summoning up a smile. "And I'd like to meet her. Never hurts to make more friends."
"Of course," he added. "Who knows? Maybe you'll find friends or a herd here."

Caoimhe nodded and whispered faintly "I really hope so." She smiled gently, "I'm sure she'd like to meet you too. My sister likes to make friends. I'd love to make friends. I don't think I'm as good at it as my sister though." She chuckled at the admission and shrugged. "I don't mind though."

"I don't know," Roque told her, smiling encouragingly. "You're not doing so badly with me. He meant that honestly. "It'd probably be easier, having you with her, don't you think? Being the first to do something is always trickier than having someone at your side."
