"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!"

Pixie fluttered in the air as she tried to get Harley to hurry up out of the car.

"One seco, Pix, I just gotta make sure I got my whole deck!"

Harley flipped open her special card deck holder and looked at her wicked awesome Magic: The Gathering deck. It had been a long time since she played, and this was going to be her first time playing with Pixie as a partner. But she knew they were going to rock, Team Robounicorn style.

"Eeeeee! I love gaming!"

Pixie did a flip in the air and cuddled HER deck close. Her favorite Pokemon, Jigglypuff, peeked up at her from one of the cards. She'd never played with Harley before, but she was sure it was going to be fun!

The two of them knocked on the door of Atrocitus's house. Inside, he growled as the happy knocking totally clashed with the rage-themed decor. He slammed open the door and surveyed his opponents.

"Prepare for your defeat, insects!"

Pixie flitted inside, grinning.

"Not an insect, a pixie! Can see how you totes got confused though, the wings."

Sitting at the gaming table was Atrocitus's partner, Gothic Lolita. She 'beeped' slightly as her hands rapidly shuffled her deck. Her favorite card, Blue Eyes White Dragon was shuffled in. She knew her victory was immanent.

"Let's get this started."

Disappointed that there were no munchies, Harley and Pixie plopped down at the opposite side of the table. Each of them placed their deck in front of them.

There was a long pause as everyone looked at Harley's Magic deck....Atrocitus's Magic deck...Pixie's Pokemon deck...and Gothic Lolita's Yu Gi Oh deck.

Suddenly, Atrocitus shot up, knocking the table over and sending cards everywhere.

"WHAT MANNER OF TRICKERY IS THIS?!"

"Oh, relax. It just means..."

Harley tipped the table back up and started dealing her cards.

"That the game's gonna be more interesting!"

Deciding to see what would happen, the game began, four volatile personalities, four very different decks.

Atrocitus sneered.

"I WILL GO FIRST."

*Atrocitus sneered a bit. He’d heard of these “crossover” games before, but he never thought he’d live to see the day when he’d have to take part in one. He glanced down at the Sligh deck he’d constructed. He wasn’t precisely certain mono-red was the best idea for this situation . . . But he didn’t really feel like dragging out any of his more advanced strategies. Burn the mofos? That seemed nice and easy.*

*So, after a moment of reflection, he adjusted his life counter to 20 . . . Then he thought for a moment.*

How are we gonna handle this? I mean, that Yu-Gi-Oh stuff does thousands of damage points in one attack.

Well . . . . Whatever. *He drew his seven cards . . . . And he ALMOST wanted to smile. He played a mountain, tapped it, and played a lightning bolt, targeting Harley.* At the very least, I know I can beat you!

Oh yay! *Bounces up and down in her seat as she makes a girly noise in the back of her throat.* Lightning.... hmm... * Sticks her tongue out of the side of her mouth as she looks to the cards in her hand. Rearranging the cards in her hand. She sets down tree mana lightly humming as she continues rearranging her cards.*

*She turns the tree to the side and then sets down a green card indicating that the player gets two life added back to her score. Gives Astrocitus a cheerfully innocent smile.*

*Whistles lightly as she sets down three small elf soldiers onto the field. Each only taking one mana to do so. Picks one card from her deck and cheerfully rearranges her hand.* Alrightie, I'm at nineteen!

Pixie squints and sighs at her hand, then resigns herself to laying down Magikarp as her active pokemon and adds a colourless energy card to it.

Pixie peers over at Atrocitus' cards, turning her head this way and that to make sense of them.

"Magikarp! Use tackle on Atrocitus' mountain!" she declares with gusto, leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms in satisfaction.

Gothic Lolita shuffled her deck for the tenth time, to keep up appearances. She'd long ago figured out which card was where, and in what order. Having a computer for a brain helps with that. Of course, that tactic wouldn't make her undefeatable, but it never hurts to know what card is coming next. Her choice of cards was one she called her "Frankendeck", since she had no idea what kind of cards her opponents would be using. It had a little bit of everything, from Fusion cards, to Psycho-Style, Toon World, Dinosaurs, and everything in-between. Goth-Lol's Blue Eyes White Dragon cards were her favorite, but far from being her only big gun at the table.

Naturally, everyone else not having Yu-Gi-Oh cards threw a wrench into all of this. It's a challenge, one that the littlest mecha would relish. She wasn't ranked in the Top 5 for nothing.

*Atrocitus blinked at Pixie.*

Wait . . . what? You're going to attack my mountain instead of me? And . . . how do you attack a mountain anyway? That's . . . that's insane. That'd be like me trying to attack that energy card you just attached to it.

Anyway . . . umm. How do we handle this? I mean, you can kill land in magic, but there are special cards needed to do it. Hell, there are entire deckkk strategies for it. But I think it would be something harder than a "tackle." And tackles don't kill energy anyway, do they?

*Atrocitus shook his head, and tries to muddle this through for a minute.*

I know. I just won't untap it when I start my next turn. Unless you have a better idea? But really . . . you're nuts. ANYWAY! I'd normally untap, but I can't. So . . . I draw now. *He pulls the top card off his deck, and frowns a little bit.* Well . . . it'll have to do.

I'll play a second mountain . . . *Which he does, thusly.* Then I'll tap it to play shock, targetting your fishie for 2 points of damage.

It just kinda seems too personal to just attack you directly since we pretty much just met and all.
Megan laughed nervously and shot a pleading look at Harley. Never the less she soldiers on and puts two pokemon face down in her reserves, and puts down a water energy card on her magikarp.

Well played using this "zap" of yours on a fish pokemon, its almost like you know what you're doing! Magikarp! Use flail on Atrocitus! Its totes not personal or anything.

Well . . . yeah. But Magic is a personal game. I mean, matches are called "duels." We're not trying to knock out the creatures like in Pokemon, we're trying to knock out each other. The critters are incidental. Sometimes, we have to kill them, but they're mostly just in the way.

Anyway . . . . *Waits on Harley and G-Lol before taking his next turn.*

. . . how much damage does that attack do anyway?
PostPosted: Tue Aug 17, 2010 8:51 pm

Well Magikarp doesn't have any damage counters on him right now so just ten. I love Pokemon because it's not about all that personal stuff like being better than someone else. It's all about the bond between a trainer and her pokemon.

Pixie sets her hand down and interlaces her fingers to drive the point home.

Like Jigglypuff and I. We've trained so hard together and been through so many electrifying battles that I built my entire deck around her because of my deep trust in the bond we have together. Neither one of us alone could have made it to the Pokemon World Championships in Tokyo back in 2007, you know? We only made it through to the semi finals that year, but it was a once in a lifetime experience that brought us even closer than we ever thought possible.

*She digs through her purse curiously as Pixie and the others take their turns. Looking for something, anything. Pouting at the fact that there aren't any munchies in the place. Who doesn't have munchies? She shrugs and then finds something. Score! It was a pack of gum. She pull out four pieces and slips it into her mouth.*

*She pulls another card from her deck. and looks at all of her cards thoughtfully. Glances around the table lightly humming as they argue and talk about the past. Listening though it seems like she not.*

*She places a tree mana down and places an elf arches on the board. Holds out some gum towards pixie and sets her cards in her lap, face down. Sets the gum on the table as if to offer it to the other team and then picks up her cards. Flipping though them and rearranging them.*
PostPosted: Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:02 pm

See, that's where we're having trouble. I mean, you're dealing tens of damage at a time, and our game is set up so we only have 20 life points each. Me an' your partner, I mean. So, do we take straight damagw, or do we modify it to account for that?

Pixie's eyes light up at the prospect of gum and she gladly takes the proffered piece.

"Thanks, Harls!"

Pixie starts munching on the gum with gusto and then slowly stops, a look of horror spreading across her face.

"Umm, Harls? Are you sure that this is the gum-gum and not that explosive stuff that you mixed up with the normal stuff last time?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:30 pm

*Atrocitus makes a face.* I don't like gum, all that much. Besides, we've got some pizza coming . . .

*The doorbell rings. Atrocitus sets his cards down, goes and pays.*

Let's see. We've got one 4 cheese special. One pepperoni . . . one taco pizza . . . and then there's mine. Jalapeños, spicy sausage and pepperoni, with a special habañero sauce. It's called the Rage Special.

Pixie turns her head discreetly and very carefully spits the gum out into a kleenex and places it delicately in her purse.

Ooh Taco Pizza!
