Today Kianga was out on her own. It wasn't anything odd for her. Although her cooky mother tries to keep everyone tied down, she always managed to find a way to escape. On her adventure, she become quite hungry, so she decided to attempt to find any kind of meat she could. She was set on a hare, but who knows if she'd actually get that lucky.
She heard a rustle in the bushes, so she figured that this might be her chance. She creped closer to this noise and found a small boulder to hide behind. Kianga waited for this sound to appear again, but it didn't. Crawling to the area she heard the noise, she stuck her head in the bushes, unafraid of what was there. She expected a rabbit, but what made the sound was much bigger than that...

It was true. Raziki was much bigger than any kind of rabbit you'd be able to find hopping about around these areas. He too, was quite hungry. The tan hyena was more in the mood for lion kill, but almost anything he found would do. Jackals, however, are not quite his thing. Therefore, Kianga was quite lucky this time.
The noise from the bushes was of him peaking past them. He was looking to see if there was anything interesting on the other side. He didn't see much besides the golden jackal. Raziki didn't have much use for her, though, so there wasn't any point. He was going to keep going on his way until the jackal decided to get nosy.
Looking back at the sound of her rustling through the bushes, he figured he would just keep walking. Maybe if he paid no attention to her, she'd just go away. He wasn't in a talking mood today... or ever really.

Once she saw what was on the other side, she froze. With a loud gulp, she noticed that the large hyena saw her looking at him. It was a good thing he kept walking, since she wasn't really sure if hyenas ate little jackals or not. With her friendly nature, though, she couldn't help but ask.
"Hey... umm, sir? Have you seen any rabbits around?"
Kianga was terrified to ask, but her stomach won over the battle with her fear. She felt like her stomach was about to eat itself. Plus, now it was doing somersaults after trying to make conversation with such a large animal. She wasn't used to it at all. In fact, she wasn't quite sure she's ever made talk with any kind of larger animal before. Well, today was the day she started. Once again, her memory went back to the waterfall.

Here it was... what he was hoping she wouldn't do. With a growl, he turned back around. Great. Now some stupid jackal was asking him questions. He knew he didn't have to answer. He knew he could have just kept walking, but by the way he sensed her, he had a feeling that she wouldn't leave him alone. It was best to just get it over with. Maybe if he was rude enough, she'd just leave him alone. Then he could finally go find some food.
"Trust me, if I had seen any rabbits, I would have eaten them all by now." he snarled.
Giving the jackal a glare, he hoped this would be a good enough answer for the jackal to run off. If not, well... he'd just walk off himself. He didn't have time for this... or he will eat the jackal.

"Oh... well thank you," she paused with a stare.
He wasn't exactly the most friendly being that she's met, but at least he didn't eat her, right? If hyenas eat jackals, then maybe he was a friendly one after all.
"I was just asking because, well... I'm close to home and my family and myself are hungry. That's all."
She had to make up for her random question by explaining herself. At least that's how she felt. Hoping she wasn't annoying him too much with her talking, she pulled the rest of her body past the brush, trying not to be rude.

Raziki couldn't believe that she was still going on with her pointless gabbing. He wished he did have a rabbit so he could shove it in her mouth, make her stop talking, and go away. Having a hard time trying to think of any reasons why he should care, a cruel plan starting brewing at the back of his brain.
She said she lived close to here, right? And had a family? Would this mean any helpless babies that he could corrupt and slave? He's been looking for someone to do all of his dirty work, or work in general. Subconsciously even more, someone to take out his anger on. This agitating jackal could hold the key to this. He suddenly took more interest in her. How he was about to act made him gag.
"Oh, sorry. I completely understand." he nodded. A grin appeared on his face. To her, it probably looked as though he was smiling, but to him, it was the cruel and snooty substance he was made of that was unleashing.
Little did Kianga know, misfortune would soon present itself on the family.

Hmm. It was odd that he suddenly had a mood change just like that, but Kianga was just glad that he was being friendly. That's all that mattered.
"Well that's good," she beamed.
There seemed to be an awkward pause. The young golden jackal shifted a little bit and moved just a bit closer to the hyena. He seemed to look rough, but still young as well as she got closer. She was careful not to get too close though. The hyena was upset before and she didn't want to invade his space. She wanted to prevent any grounds for rudeness.
"So my name's Kianga. I kind of have a dumb question for you." she giggled innocently. She played with the dirt under her paws nervously. It was really a stupid question that she could have gone without, but for some reason, she had to know.
"Why didn't you eat me if you are hungry?"

As the jackal got closer, he brought himself back a step. He wasn't sure how close she was going to get and Raziki isn't exactly the type of person who likes to get close, by any means, to others. She told him her name and for some reason, it reminded him of a lion's name. He wasn't sure why.
"I'm Raziki." he told her shortly. He wasn't sure how much of this he could handle. Raziki wasn't very good at being nice. He even had a hard time pretending.
"I didn't eat you because jackals aren't really what I consider a tasty meal, okay?" His snobby personality started coming out again and he knew he couldn't act like this anymore. He was about to break.
"Wish I could chat longer, but I need to go find food before my opinion on taste changes." Before he could even get a respond, he started walking again. That was it. He thought he said enough. It was probably one of the most polite chats he's ever had in his life and that made him sick. His plan would be worth it, though. Now he knew where to look. Only he'd come when she was the least expecting.

Raziki was quite an edgy name. She had heard other names like it before, but it seemed like the "z" just made it stand out.
Kianga was glad that jackals weren't tasty to him. Hopefully all of the other hyenas had the same taste as he did. Then she would never have to worry about getting eaten... at least by that specie.
Before she could respond at all to what he said, he started off on his way again. She could tell he didn't want to stop at all and she wasn't going to make him. He was cranky as it was and Kianga didn't want to find out what he'd be like if she stopped him again. She let him be.
"Bye..." she mumbled.

He had heard her say bye, but he was no longer in the mood to respond to anyone. All he wanted to do was find or kill something, mow down, and get on with his day. He left the scene hurriedly, in the slavery of his stomach. Once he answered the cries of his hunger, however, he would soon have a slave of his own.
His plan made him giddy on the inside, but he barely showed it. He would tell these plans to no one. It will only be the day that everything goes down that everyone will find out.
He couldn't wait.
