Koi yawned as the sunlight finally penetrated her den and splashed across her face waking her up. Grumbling good-naturedly to herself, she rolled out of the dried grass she used as a bed, shaking in order to dislodge the pieces still clinging to her fur. Yawning once again, the female stretched to get all the kinks from the night out of her muscles and trotted outside.
Her den was just inside the treeline, a place she could see the small lake that was both provider of foods and quiet sanctuary. She allowed herself one last good stretch and a backrub against one of the trees before she padded down to the small lake, stomach rumbling and signaling that it was time for breakfast. Avidly watching the fish, the blue, spotted female launched herself into the water. Breaking the surface for a quick gulp of air, Koi dove deep, swimming with the currants flowing in from the river that fed the lake. Catching sight of her prey, she took off after the large salmon, intent on getting herself a much needed breakfast.

Cheveyo was up and meditating before the sun. He sat near the lake, his eyes closed as he inhaled the morning scents. His tail swished in a steady rhythm as he prepared for his swim. It is his first morning without having any of the young ones around. As much as he enjoys them, he likes his time alone too.
He opened his eyes, watched as the sun played on the lake and took a deep breath. Chev dived into the water and started to chase a small school of fish.

Koi snapped at the tail of the fish in front of her and missed. Growling lightly in frustration, Koi went up for air. She shook her head a little, water flying off the fins on her ears. Taking another large gulp of air, Koi slipped back under the water.
She caught sight of another trout and took off after it. She was so focused on catching her breakfast and alleviating herself of her hunger, she didn't notice any other presence in the lake. Suddenly, the fish darted straight up and Koi, not being able to slow enough to follow, slammed into a rather large, rather soft body.

Chev was enjoying his chase, when something hit him in the side. He turned to find what had hit him and saw a large fish? He shook his head and looked again. Fin ears caught his attention first, but a Shakaiyo face connected to the fin ears. He tapped the other with his tail and pointed towards the surface.
He swam up to the surface and waited to see if he would be followed. His tail floated out behind him and he watched as some more fish swam past.

Irritated at the interruption, Koi followed the tail floating just above her head. Breaking the surface, she made her way to the bank and shook herself off, sending water flying everywhere. Rounding on the male Shakaiyo, she gave a small growl. "This is my lake, my fish," she lay down with a grown and a morose look, "and my breakfast."
She looked back at the sopping wet male. He was purple, with some lovely markings in a darker purple. he was wearing something shiny around his back paw, and something else was peeking out between the wet fur on his ear. "Who are you?"

He turned to watch the female as she grumbled about breakfast. "Well, you just missed another chance at the fish. Though I am not sure you own them."
His eyes took in her orange spotted tail and the stripe across her side. As he stood there looking at her, he swiped a fish on to the shore. It wasn't a big fish, but it should be enough. "As for who I am,.. Well that's for me to know." He said with a smirk.

She growled at the male. "These are too my fish...." She trailed off as a fish was flipped in front of her nose. She placed a paw on it and dragged the flopping animal closer to herself. "This is also my fish." She declared, taking a rather large bite out of it to soothe her stomach.
She gave the purple male a death glare. "It's for me to know too. You're on my property." Her fur bristled and, fortified with a small amount of breakfast, she stood and faced the male.

He watched as she took a bite of fish, "And you are welcome for that fish, Miss Rude Tail." He stalked up to the bank, shook his fur out at her as Chev ignored the glare. "The fish are all of ours, so just calm down."
He looked around the area and didn't see any sign that this area of bank was her property. He walked over to her and sniffed, Definitely not someone I know. "Well who are you? Maybe I will tell you who I am after." He sat down and waited. Working with the young ones, he had some knowledge of how to work with this female.

Koi's jaw dropped a bit at the rebuff. "Why you insolent little drowned rat!" She cried, jumping back away from the water droplets, though she wasn't able to escape them all. She continued to glare at him while he sniffed her, reaffirming her earlier insults.
"Who I am? I am the Shakaiyo that lives here." She pointed towards the treeline where her cave dwelled, though neither of them could see it from here. She growled one more time before tackling the male back into the water.

He grinned as she got all riled up. She was cute when mad, it made the orange stand out more against the blue of her fur. He adjusted so he could see where she pointed. As he looked there was a slight warning before they were back in the water. He nipped her ear as they tumbled.
As they were back in the water, the fun he was having, upsetting the one who hit him, made him hungry. He pushed off from her side gently as he chased down a couple of trout and small bird for breakfast. He awkwardly brought them all to the shore they started at. "There is more food over here if you are hungry still. By the way, my name is Cheveyo."

She felt the n** on her ear and shook her head. The water loosened her grip on the male, and he swam off, fishing for more breakfast. She caught her own small fish and followed him back towards the bank.
She stopped before actually leaving the water, only her head and finned tipped ears showing, reminiscent of an alligator. "Shev-yo," she said, the fish slurring her word a little. She dropped her trout into the pile of food and eyed him suspiciously. "I'm Koi. Thank you for the breakfast." She said grudgingly, sitting down and dragging a fish towards her and eating.

"Well what do you know, she can be polite." Chev grinned and grabbed a fish. His tail splayed out behind him as he flayed the fish and began to eat. "How long have you been in the area, Koi?" He asked casually.

Koi stilled before looking up at Cheveyo with a large smile. "Oh, I've been here a long time, a few years at least. And of course I can be polite. Here, Cheveyo, have another fish. It's on me." She said sweetly, placing a paw under one of the remaining fish and flipping it into the air. It went up and landed on the top of the purple male's head. "Or, I guess it's on you."

Chev smirked at the 'polite' comment. "You must hide very..." The fish landed on his head. He rolled his eyes up, watched the fish flop a tiny bit before he started laughing.
"Apparently you have good aim." His eyes shined bright from the laughter. He removed the fish and tossed it back. "Thanks but this one is for you."

Koi watched the fish flopping about on Cheveyo's head and she couldn't help herself. She started snickering, then turned it to a full on laugh when he began laughing as well. She caught the fish when he threw it back at her and smiled at him before taking a bite.
"Hide? Not really. I spend a lot of time under the water, and the rest in my own cave. I was kinda kicked out of my last home, so I guess I didn't want it to happen again." She explained, licking her paw clean.
