The large pale dog padded quietly across the landscape, his soft lilac eyes scouring the world, watching, protecting. In his old life he had only the need to protect himself and his mate and ultimately their children, now though he had to protect everyone in the pack, luckily he wasn't alone in this.
As darkness fell his eyes adjusted quickly and he sat in his usual position casting his gaze out in to the wide world to check for intruders, new comers and danger.

She was far from dangerous, in fact she was fairly harmless, at least to an adult dog. Still she had always been called a scrappy little thing and she took that as a good sign that she could up and protect herself at any time.
Xena had been travelling for quite a while now, ever since she realised she was old enough to strike out alone she had picked up her paws and made her way in the direction of her choosing. She was searching ultimately for a new home. Her mother had informed her of a place where her father lived, a place of many dogs of strange ways and it was there that she was headed.
She had been approaching a land of dogs all day, she had crossed and recrossed lines that were obviously hunting tracks and now, as the shadows approached she spotted the large white dog waiting on what was a clearly heavily scented border.

The large pale dog smiled a light smile at the approaching female. She was young, much too young to be of any threat to him, he had been an old warrior for a long time, but he could recognise someone who was full of passion.
The flash of sunny yellow on her nose made him smile, it was like the sun had walked a line up her nose and left it's mark.
"Greetings." He states, his tail wagging, his ears cocked at a friendly angle. "Welcome to the Peke-na lands" He says his voice rough but whispery. "Can I assist you in any way?"

Xena smiles a doggish smile, wagging her tail she gives a swift affirmative nod. "Oh yes, you can help me!" She grins playfully "Actually, you already have, I was looking for the Peke-na, my father lives here." She nods her head brightly.
"His name is Zuberi, he and my mother had a short time together and I have been searching for his lands and his pack for some time now. May I enter to seek him out?" She smiles and wags her tail. It had hardly been luck her coming upon the lands, it was easy to follow the large packs scent, but coming upon someone who was clearly of this pack was sheer dumb luck.

Silentpaws smiles brightly, he thought he knew this name, though perhaps by his other name. "I can lead you in young one." He smiles bowing his head. "My name is Silentpaws. I welcome you."
He gets to his paws stretching his limbs slightly as he did so "Come, I will take you tot he dens. I'm sure you can find your father in the morning."

"Oh, I'm Xena." She smiles happily padding up to the older pale dog happily, her tail wagging in an ecstatic manner. "I'm sure I can find him easily enough, my mother says he was very much the charmer." She chuckles lightly, she was impressed that she had managed to find the pack of her father.
"Silentpaws, that is an unusual name." She states, curious about his two word name that seemed to be said as one."

The pale dog smiles brightly "Yes, before I joined they called me Horatio, but when I came to this pride I took on another name so I am known best as silent paws." He pauses for a moment before picking up his paws once again.
"If you stay, you will get to choose a name for yourself. Perhaps something to do with your sunny streak hmm?" He smiles a friendly smile his pale lilac eyes laughing gently.

"Horatio? That name is even more funny." She giggles playfully a smile on her maw as she padded up beside the large pale male. "I would like that, I have been looking for my fathers pack, he spoke so fondly of it to my mother I felt I must come and see it for myself." She sighs softly, she had the romantic idea of joining her father and becoming a part of this large pack.
"A name to do with my sunny streak?" She questioned, confused by what he meant.

The older male chuckles, he remembered a lot of youngsters used to say is name was unusual, and it was, but it was also a good, strong family name. He loved his name but he was happy to simply be called Silentpaws.
"Yes, your sunny streak up your nose. It looks like the sun has painted a line up your face." He smiles, he was quite enjoying speaking to the young female.

Xena broke in to a gentle, tinkly laugh as he told ehr what she meant. "I never thought of that before." She smiles softly, she would definitely consider his words if she stayed, something to do with her sunny streak. She really did like the idea of naming herself something to do with the flash of gold up her nose.
"I am looking forwards to seeing the pack. My father spoke much about it to my mother before I was born." She smiles, wagging her dark tail. "I may stay, it always sounded like something so far away and magical when I was growing up."

Silentpaws smiles brightly "It is a good pack to live in, quiet, healthy. I joined with my mate some time ago and a few of our cubs, it's a good place to make your home." The big dog nods his head. "The dens are not far away now." He smiles.
"I suggest you spend the night, have a sleep and search out your father in the morning. Those who are not used to the darkness sometimes find it quite foreboding finding their way around the pack lands."

Xena squints through the darkness,s he could just make out the outlines of the dens ahead. Silentpaws was right of course, she would need to search out her father in the mornings light. "yes, I will search for him during the day, I do hope he won't mind being woken up." She giggles her golden eyes full of amusement.
"I wouldn't want to fall down a hole in the dark." She grins, thinking that was the least that could happen if she went stumbling about in the shadows.

The big male dog chuckles and nods his head. "Yes, come, there is a place where guests can sleep this ay." He pads towards the dens and settles down to sit waiting for Xena to catch up. "I'm sure he won't mind being woken up by his pretty daughter." He smiles wagging his pale tail int he shadows.
"I hope you find this comfortable enough to get you through the night."

Xena catches up to the big white dog a smile on her maw as she looked down in to the clearly empty den. "Thank you, you have been most helpful." She turns and vanishes in to the den though her head soon pops back out again. "Thank you, really, I don't know what i would have done if you hadn't met me out there. I may have missed this place completely or wasted another day out in the rogue lands." She smiles a wrinkly nosed smile.
"Will I see you again? Perhaps I can bring you a gift for your kindness."

Silentpaws chuckles lightly "There is no need for thanks my dear. Sleep well and good luck in locating your father in the morning light." He smiles bowing his head. "I can come back tomorrow if you wish and help you find your way."
He gets to his paws then, he knew he had to get back to his position. "Good night Miss Xena and you are truly welcome, I live to help others." He stretches out his limbs once again then, turning back towards the direction from whence they had come, he soon vanished in to the darkness.
