Bio:

Rei lived up to the desert-dweller stereotype: a cloaked, mysterious individual known to appear to lost travelers. He knew every inch of his desert, every hideout of the Cacturne (and received many goods from their stash, those thieves), every Sandshrew's hide-hole, every room in every cave and cavern that lined the edge of the desert...

Yet he knew almost nothing of the world outside of his own. His Zubat being his only companion, he knew nothing of real conversation between other people. All he learned, he knew from the random book or scroll that he found in the sands; reading was easy, but his social skills needed polishing. He came across people every so often: an archaeologist who just had to know how to enter the sacred realm of the ancients (yet the old man didn't even know braille!), a few campers needing to "get that badge" or "find that Skarmory on the other side of the desert," a caravan or two, and what he believed to be gang members.

Team Aqua wasn't the first group that tried recruiting him; it almost made more sense that he would stumble across a Team Magma recruiter in the desert. The recruiter's sales pitch seemed effective enough; how hard could it be to convince a hermit living in the desert that more land is good? Yet Rei declined the offer, leaving a bewildered recruiter to slowly sink into another Trapinch hole. Nobody really knows the reasoning behind Rei's acceptance into Team Aqua, but he joined without complaint.

As long as he can return to his desert in the end.

Skills: swordplay; plenty of time to pick up a useful skill in the desert, and what better way to pass the time than to practice with an old blade.
